Has anyone else here been blessed to enjoy this ministry?
This is a ministry that is sorely overlooked and in great need folks.
These elderly people are in need of a "bridge" between their surroundings and church.
This are a very very special congregation as they will love you like no other, You will come home with handmade doilies with love in every stitch and puzzles and cards and most importantly beautiful memories of these precious toothless smiles as they gather around the pulpit to join in worship and share their own personal testimonies.
I have entered the rooms of residents that were new to the facility to invite them to our Sunday services and to pray with the, Only to find them sitting and crying because they feel abandoned by the children and family that they raised and that this is just the last stop before death.
They feel discarded, Not needed or wanted.
These residents are often isolated with the only company coming from the occasional nurse to deliver some pills or someone to clean the room.
The wisdom that one can learn from these dear people is priceless as they have lived through things that today's society could scarcely tolerate and yet they are open books and love to share their vast knowledge with you.
They will talk about anything, Just so long as someone will sit and talk with them.
If you haven't already, Please consider doing a bible study or preaching at your local Nursing Home. There is a whole facility of new special friends just waiting on you :]
