No it doesn't. Senator Elizabeth Warren DNA test indicates that one of her 1064 ancestors from 10 generations ago "may" have been native American making her 1/1024 native American. White American average genetic makeup is 0.18% (1/600) Native American.

She's super white.

Nice try, Senator Warren, but having one ancestor from 200 years ago or so does not make you or anyone an Indian (or any other particular ethnicity, for that matter). And it absolutely does not make her mother (!) a Cherokee and known to be a Cherokee as she claimed.

In fact, it probably is the case that MOST Americans whose ancestors have been in this country since the early 1800s are Indians by that reckoning! However, I am now sure that she will be going on the attack, claiming that she proved her contention.

hmmm...I might just point out there's now more evidence to support her claim to having a native American ancestor then President Trump's claim to be a genius or a billionaire. :sorry:
tulc(just a thought)

Except the evidence refutes her claim. At least Trump's not holding up an iq test saying that it proves he's a genius when it doesn't.

...really? Because my impression was it actually supports it.

Thank you, that was the point I was making. She has now offered more proof then President Trump has shown in support of his claims.
tulc(is glad for the help) ;)

She's mostly European descent but the test confirmed she had Native American DNA from somewhere between 6 and 10 generations back. Even if it was her 6th generation back it would be much but to someone who has done Genealogy reports it would show why the story of having Indian blood would affect her but this is usually how closely families kept records, usually Bible records.

I had heard the same stories in my family but until I dug deep into our past those stories were just that.

Perhaps Trump should get a similar test done. Odds are he might have the average amount of Native American Ancestry most Americans have or some other racial group in which case the left would be forced to concede Trump belongs to that racial group if they want Elizabeth Warren to be considered native American instead of the old white woman she clearly is.

Turns out that, according to the research, it was more like 10 generations ago and one unidentifiable ancestor only.

She, however, claimed that there was a big dispute between the families of her mother and father because the father's family didn't want him to marry an Indian of Cherokee and Delaware blood.

How the Senator could think that this DNA fiasco would not make her look worse rather than vindicated is hard to figure.

It’s almost like the claim of Irish Americans of being “black Irish.”

Then from this day forward everyone must call me Redleg the Conqueror given 40 generations ago I had an ancestor who conquered Ireland and sowed his royal seed there.

That is incorrect. I read the results provided from the lab. Estimated at 8 generations but could be as much as 6. Overall it placed it at between 6 and 10.
She, however, claimed that there was a big dispute between the families of her mother and father because the father's family didn't want him to marry an Indian of Cherokee and Delaware blood.
But it true but it doesn't mean that she was lying. She said that those were the stories told to her by her parents or other family members.

How it makes her look depend on the onlookers. A person who understands genealogy hears these things all of the time. Stories are passed down through families all of the time but before DNA tests they were hard to verify.

That was before it was revised.

What evidence is there of that being true?

The Cherokee nation has apparently issued a statement:

"A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person's ancestors were indigenous to North or South America. Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is prove. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."
