I would definitely argue that some here has, at least enough for it to count as being genuinely born-again by the Spirit in God's eyes.

ButI would still like to know, what would be your definition?

No, some have not here. It is not my definition, read the entire passage. One key is the statement He makes to Nicodemus, who was a Pharisee. The following passage is very important in understanding the truth.

You are Israel’s teacher, said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man...that everyone who believes may have eternal life in Him

I'm sorry, but I don't see your point. It may be me, and I often don't understand what people are trying to say, so could you explain your point in your own words, and also using more verses to prove it?

John 3:31-36. John reiterates it again.

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. How many births are there and how many deaths?

It would be better if you stopped trying to sound spiritual, and instead spoke clearly. God's Truth is never confusing. Are you speaking about the old man having been buried with Christ and the new man having been made alive in Him? Being raised into heavenly places with Him?

I am laughing myself silly at your post. You don't even realize what you just posted, do you?

"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." Galatians 3:27

Baptism puts you into Christ. Now how can you be put into someone if you are already in Him? How can you "put on" Christ if you are already wearing Him and your baptism is just a public profession that you have already put Him on by your "faith alone?"

Thank you for proving my point from Scripture.

And none of the other verses say "Give your life to Jesus" word for word. You are reading into them what you wish to believe and you also are ignoring what the Church taught in the first century, i.e., that baptism washes away sin and gives you new life in Christ.

Look, mere mental assent to facts does not save. The devils know the facts about Christ better than any of us. Are they saved?
Where does it says that Galatians 3:27 is speaking of water baptism ? This whole chapter is about salvation by faith actually, Paul isn't saying "oh by the way sprinkle some water on them too". There are several kinds of baptism through out scripture, this baptism being spoken of is baptism by the Holy Spirit though, it's a baptism taking place at the heart level...

Well as I said I was baptized already, and mine was full immersion Trinitarian style, and I was old enough to remember it and it was of my own free will, so I guess I'm covered either way. Or are there 500 other technicalities I need to worry about concerning my salvation that only your denomination can rectify?
No you're covered, so am I.

I look at it more in the line of cooperating with Jesus. I was born again back in 1977, but it began with ME affirming to Jesus that I would cooperate with Him, not the other way around.
Absolutely ! I came to Jesus Christ in my heart in 1979, I was totally broken, nearly non functional. He has been working in me ever since, full life change of events etc. He literally saved me and gave me a new heart. PTL

Could you be a little more vague?

I'll agree with you that some in here are deceived of understanding.

I've accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord, that only by faith through grace I'm saved.
I've confessed my faith in Christianity, to 1 or 2 people (in person), many more online.
I've repented from all sins.
I read the scriptures daily and pray without ceasing.

I have not been baptized by water.

Am I born again?
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,” (Galatians 5:22)

Only those born again have faith that remains.

I'm looking for someone to baptize me. But the closest church is an hour away. Most churches don't baptize unless you become a member, and take classes. I want to be baptized now.

Maybe you can call that church pastor on the phone and explain your situation and that you live an hour away and won't be able to take any classes or attend regularly. He may be willing to do an 'express' baptism for you. He can interview you over the phone to make sure your legit. If he refuses you can leave your callback number and ask him to pray about it. If he continues to refuse you can try other churches and other pastors within Uber or bus range. You won't even need to meet with them face to face at first. At least one will be likely to help a brother out.

I think that it would be better to wait until he can get a real baptism, and not an "express"-baptism. God isn't in a hurry.

I haven't been baptized yet, because I want it to be special (though God provided for me a "baptism" of a sort Himself once). I want to be baptized by someone I know is Spirit-filled and who knows Jesus. Not by the worldly, pro-gay, mostly female pastors where I live, or the state church that won't baptize those who were baptized as a baby. I have prayed for it, but God hasn't provided an opportunity yet. Maybe soon. It doesn't need to be rushed, but it needs to be led by the Spirit.

I had a private public baptism lol. That is to say I could have gone with others to a church picnic they were having at a lake 2 hours away from here where there was to be a baptism that day. I opted instead to have my born again pastor friend and a hand full of other born again believers we know come to a favorite local pond where I fish in the spring and fall months, and pray there often otherwise. That pond has always been a special place to me. It's funny, there were two young families hanging out there when we arrived at a primitive boat launch and this one guy looked like he didn't know where to put himself as this was going down. But he was the first one to cheer when I came up out of the water. The pastors house is only half a mile from the pond, we all went there after and had cake and ice cream. Then my wife and I came home and cooked hot dogs on the grill because I really felt like having a hot dog. It was dark out about the time I shut the grill down. So this turned out to be most of the afternoon and evening event all in all.

My thought and statement: Jesus did it, who am I not to .

The HS had placed this on my heart that I should do it, that was around January or so of that year. We did it in late June when the water had warmed up. We are just a satellite outreach so we use local waters, ponds, even the ocean. Home base is in Baltimore, there they have a baptismal tank in the church but even they will do these picnics at a park someplace down there and dunk people in the lake in the warm months, both they and Marlborough Ma have an annual picnic in the summer and that is the big call to be baptized in our church organization in various locations around the world actually ( we have 670 churches world wide).. The tank is used for periodic baptisms upon request in bad weather months etc.

I'll be praying you find that believer Emli !

Lol that is an awesome testimony! :) It sounds amazing, and perfectly planned by Jesus, who knows you by name. :) I could just feel His love in my heart as I read this. Thank you for sharing!

I think that God may have found me an awesome church family over here, but I have to wait to see what happens. There is no pastor, it would be a house church based on the New Testament, but any mature believer would be okay, right?

You don't need religious hoodlidoo to be baptized but you do need another born again believer and it should be witnessed . But you should do as the Spirit leads.

Am I born again?

People do not choose birth, it is a process that happens.
You detect it has happened by signs of life.
Love of Jesus, praise of God, love of Jesus's words and a burning desire to follow them.
Love of those who love Jesus and follow Him.

This is what John says

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.
1 John 3:14

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:3-4

The stirring of our loyalty from the world to Jesus is indicated by this desire to understand and follow Jesus and His words. In our hearts the realisation this is life dawns. This is not just an intellectual affirmation, but a heart and life affirmation.

Paul talks about
Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
Eph 1:13-14

How do we experience the Holy Spirit? Start praising God and see where your heart soars. Such is the ministry in our hearts.
