Depends on who you are speaking to. Rebuke a nonbeliever sharply and you can damage your faiths testimony for life, rendering that individual unable to receive anything another christian ever speaks again. That accomplishes nothing for your cause.
Rebuke a wise man and he will love you for correcting them, rebuke a fool and he will rail against you.
And when others openly come against Christ, openly rebuke, and command in the authority of Christ.
