Atheist male blogger, preacher father, spiritual female journalist... sounded like it might be an interesting TV show.

To my surprise, the words exchanged between the atheist and believers (in regards to God) were quite blunt; a lot more "realistic" and "harsh" than I figured a network show would be airing.

Interesting roads ahead!

About half-way through the show, during and emotional dialogue with the spiritual female journalist, the atheist tells her he doesn't believe in God because...
he merely finds all the evidence presented lacking.

Hahahahaha, just kidding...

His mom was killed in a car accident coming home from the hospital, just after her cancer went into remission.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Typical. Thought nothing has yet topped the CNN discussion panel about atheism that had not one atheist on it.

For a much more interesting representation of an atheist in popular media I would suggest Penn Jilettes appearance on Crashing.

Thanks. I'll check it out.

You know, it kinda says something (about the show's material) that my knee-jerk reaction was laughing loudly when...
the spiritual female journalist gets hit by a car.

Didn't know mainstream media is still so backwards regarding atheism. For some reason I think 80% of the population are atheists.. even though the percentage is probably much, much smaller.. lol.

Mainstream media is the unquestioned expert on everything superficial.
Yeah, I avoid it as much as possible. Every media outlet I watch takes atheism for granted.

Yup.
I don't have a problem with atheism per se. I like some Atheists I know better than I like some Christians I know. Labels themselves can be clumsy sometimes, never mind how clumsily we use them.

mehhh I'm waiting for the horror sequel where god kills people on skype, "God Unfriended Me."

That's a show I would watch.

I don't know how many times I want to scream at the tv when someone thanks god for saving them after a flood/tornado/accident. I guess god cared about them and not the other people who died in the flood/tornato/accident or the victims in the latest mass shooting/plane crash/tsunami or the thousands of children who die daily around the world of starvation/disease. The ego required to think the creator of the universe saved you while letting countless others die is staggering.

I've seen the previews for it & been wondering if it'd be any good.

Was it worth checking out?

feels a bit middle of the ground, probably not enough to make the evangelicals like it, and a little too much for the atheists or non believers to like.

Plus they use the usual reason for someone being a atheist, even if ti was at least creative in it's version.

Weird though The Waltons a 1970s TV show had an atheist character, who actually provided real arguements and the theists around him couldn't respond and kept quiet. Lol.

Really? Never watched it but given the type of show it was and when it was aired that is quite surprising. Might have to do some research on that.

Yeah.. they even had an episode where they portrayed a creationist as a daughter beating drunk who ends up trying to burn the local school down for teaching evolution and ends up dying himself in the fire.. lol.

I may have to revisit that series.

Yeah, its a well written show. A Christian channel used to play a censored version of it, and I never saw them even air the evolution episode. The 1970s actually had a lot of cutting edge content for the time. The 80s seemed to return to more dumb down fluff.

Depends on what you are trying/expecting to get out of it.

Watch the 1st episode and I'm sure you'll get an idea of what it will be like.
