As I'm sure you're aware, Trump ordered a FBI investigation into the allegations right after you wrote this post. Maybe you'e right that he is just putting up a smokescreen to delay the confirmation.

This wasn't a trial where Dr. Ford had a burden of proof for her case, it was a job interview for Kavanaugh. I agree with Trump that Dr. Ford was very compelling & seemed like a fine lady. She certainly was far more cogent & composed than Kavanaugh. But you're wrong & you're flaming to state that I "only side with Ford" on account of not liking Kavanaugh. Prior to his pathetic behavior that we had to witness, I liked him fine, and was just pushing for an investigation into the allegations. Believing her is independent of being unimpressed by him.
I apologize for flaming towards you. This was certainly not the right time for me to come back into the politics section lol. I'm pulling back from this discussion and will wait until the FBI does their investigation. If they find something, then I will be on board to not nominate him. But if they don't find anything, my support will stand.

I felt both of their pain. It's a weird time for sure.

So your ignoring all evidence? Or the fact there are endless videos if her lying about her story on the stand? First the first floor was super loud, then later she said only a 2-3 people were there and it was very quiet. Or she can't fly, buts fly all the time. Or she was a innocent girl but her yearbook makes her out to be skanky. Or the fact there are other inconsistencies in her story. Or shes afraid of men from PTSD yet has three people in her face telling her things during the case. Or how she uses a homely voice but when caught out of the court room her voice is fine.

Don't need to be an expert to notice the obvious that she is lying. At least about Kav.
Comprehending the difference between testifying in front of the senate and being in the hall doesn't take a whole lot of critical thinking skills.

Apology appreciated & accepted, Saucy. I also feel for the ladies who've made the accusations as well as for Kavanaugh & his family.

Have yourself a good night.

Obviously an expert's opinion. NOT!

Obviously an expert's opinion. NOT!

Just NOT!

That's just mind blowingly stupid. Should I provide further explanation?

Factually incorrect.

Only seems like that if you are desperate.

Blaming the victim. So typical.

Blaming the victim? We don't know if she was a victim. At least we don't know that she was a victim of Kav. We have no evidence. You obviously believe she was simply because she says so. Some of us want some evidence of a crime committed by someone.

I don't really know who is telling the truth here. The circumstances all just seem odd to me. But let's wait to see what the FBI has to say before we pass final judgement.

Because he doesn't get blackout drunk?

I only got blackout drunk once in my life. I don't see what's so difficult to believe about that. That's one time when I couldn't remember the things I did while drunk. For those of you unable to grasp this, there's a method to it....pay close attention....

1. Drink slowly, so that you can feel the effects of what you drank before drinking much more.
2. When you begin to feel drunk, stop drinking.

I know for some people that will seem difficult, but trust me, it can be done.

....some people can exercise constraint. Others don't -- especially teenage boys trying to impress..

I asked the same thing when a different poster mentioned this on another thread. It's gotta be some talking point on the left. He's white, he's wealthy, so obviously he got away with all kinds of behavior that poor minorities wouldn't get away with....

Unless you start with the assumption that because he's a wealthy white male who enjoys a drink....and therefore he's guilty of something...it makes no sense.

Personal accountability is not a talking point.

So why did you bring it up?

I don't believe him and in my opinion, he has never had to account for his actions while drunk.

If you want to change your mind now...that's fine. It just seems odd to talk about something then say "don't talk about that" as if I'm the one off topic.

Off topic? I was responding to:

...and I'm guessing "100 kegs or bust" wasn't a Senior year goal.
I'm still puzzled at how we accept that there are many people who can drink "a lot" and behave well, yet if one is then accused of bad behavior, they instantly become not one-of-those-people.

What magically changed in how they tolerate alcohol and behave, I do not know.

I might be able to help you there, what's happening is that you are missing a camp.
1) Those who can drink alot and behave well
2) Those who can drink alot and behave badly
3) Those that lie under oath about drinking alot.

Hope that helps.

I thought they'd still be from #2, but would be lying by saying they are from #1.

Regardless, it's always troubling how quickly they go from #1 to either #2 and/or #3 with an accusation. Never the accusation faces these types of dilemmas, just the accused.

It doesn't really matter in which direction they are lying under oath, it's still lying under oath.

Hmm, that's probably because "getting assaulted while drunk" isn't a crime, no matter how much righties wish it were.

Sure it does. There isn't going be someone who drinks a lot, behaves well, then lie and say they don't behave well.

I think you are missing my point about how the focus is on is he or is he not lying, rather than is she or is she not lying.

The default now is trying to prove/show you aren't a bad guy, instead of the other person prove/showing you are a bad guy. It sets the stage with the accusation being true and you having to fight uphill.

I was not aware of that.

But there is going to be someone that drinks and behaves either way, then lies about the drinking regardless of the behavior under oath.

Except I am not talking about the he said she said portion of the program, I'm talking about the obvious references to heavy drinking and promiscuity in Kavanaugh's year book in contrast to his under oath declaration that neither happened.

Clinton didn't get impeached for having sex on his desk, he got impeached for lying about it. So should it be with Kavanaugh.
