Good morning my dear friends in Christ!

If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.” - Philemon 1:17

Philemon was no ordinary person – he held church services in his house. He evidently was well off. He had servants. He had a forgiving spirit. He, according to Paul, was a partner in the ministry, no doubt working with and helping aid Paul financially.

Author and teacher, Dr. Howard Hendricks, tells the story of a young man who strayed from the Lord but was finally brought back by the help of a friend who really loved him. That's a real tight spot, with Onesimus. it seems that Onesimus may have stolen from Philemon or his household and consequently, run off. Looking closer at what Paul wrote, it seems that Onesimus has become saved, and Paul refers to him as beloved and his own "son" in the Lord. Paul vows to pay back anything that is owed, and he's asking forgiveness for Onesimus from Philemon and reconciliation of Onesimus as a brother in Christ. What a precious blessing from Paul.

And thank God for the Christian brother who actually "swam out" to his floundering brother and grasped hold of him and WOULD NOT let go, consequently restoring this floundering brother.

Our prayers are like that aren't they?

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." ~Jam 5:16

God bless you brother. Thank you for this wunnerful study and meditation. It blessed me BIG TIME.

thank you for reading and commenting Brinny. It is always tough to forgive when we feel we have been wronged. In Christ alone!
