Oh, and there's also the problem that you still have to reconcile "they leak" with your "maybe they'll leak something sometime possibly in the future" walk-back.

Why is it so hard to get a consistent story here?

Not a "leak" as the term is commonly understood. No one on the Mueller team violated confidentiality.

Well, in that case it is a leak. According to the story, the Mueller team presented a list of questions to the Trump administration, and someone in the Trump administration leaked them. But the Mueller team didn't leak them.

So which of those sources attributed leaks to the Mueller team and not some other party with which it provided information as part of the investigatory process? The LA times article did not attribute the leak to Mueller.
