What makes us in the West more deserving of food, employment and general greed and gluttony than these poor souls?

Blessed are the poor.. Luke 6:20-27

Venezuelans' long walk from hunger

Micah 6:10-12
Micah 2:1-2

If you look to the parallel in Matthew, it’s Blessed are the poor in spirit.

Do you believe it is possible that poverty, like war, is (these days) more often than not artificially manufactured, in order to control?

The further we move from biblical truth, the more power will be given to those able to cause artificial shortage, war, terrorism etc., resulting in the plight of peoples we see around the world today.

Jesus tells us that we will always have the poor.
Matthew 26:11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.

He also tells us that how we treat the least of our poor and oppressed brothers, is how we treat Him.
Matthew 25:34-40 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

I referenced the woes too. The blessed are the poor is the intro to the section of the chapter which was referenced, to aid those who don't want to click the link.

It is saddening how no one, as yet, has mentioned the plight of the Venezuelans.

Maybe the African people deserve compassion? :(

900,000,000 live in slums worldwide.
It's sad, but what can you do? As soon as you set some of these people up to produce their own food, warlords come in and rob or kill them. And if the entire nation gets ahead, Western nations invade it and turn it back into an anarchic wasteland (e.g. Libya).

Well what we can do is raise awareness.

Social media have lots of hate messages, Trump, anti immigrants, lots of lbgw and nationalist, anti plastic, celebrity gossip posts, articles.

But how often do we see these issues being raised? Surely social media can help reinstall compassion and direct peoples attention if people start posting these things more.

I dunno - why are Venezuelans starving and unemployed? Just bad luck?
