It doesn't make a lot of economic sense to fund a tax cut when the economy is doing well - especially when its financed with borrowed money!

This is the whole problem in a nutshell.
The government can't finance a tax cut. The money they
spend doesn't belong to them. It belongs to us.

If you spend more than you earn, can you go to your boss
and demand more money? That is what the government
is doing to us, and we're supposed to be the bosses. They
need to learn how to live under a budget again, even if it
means they lose their soup tickets, the socialist programs.

Well, he's certainly massively increased the deficit, but I'm not sure that it would be considered "doing more for our country." The massive increase is, as you probably know, is due to the lavish tax cuts Trump gave himself and his friends.

If you don't want us going broke, your support for someone moving us closer to that point is a little puzzling.

Remember Solyndra? How much of Obama's spending
for "shovel ready" projects ended up going to companies
who went out of business once they had collected?

And yet Trump stacked up a bigger deficit than Obama? How could that be?

Easy. Lavish tax cuts, mostly going to Trump and his friends. And a huge increase in spending. And he's still trying to get money for his wall that won't work.

Don't know why some are complaining?

Yep, the farm and the animals are enjoying America moving towards great again up here too.
The wife is knitting 12 goat sweaters now with Trump 2020 on the back.
The chickens didn't much care for the MAGA scarves, but we have had a frost now and it might just be cool enough for them to appreciate them.
One of the better boosts we received is not being penalized for being a seasonal worker and unable to afford Cobra insurance in the winter. Thanks Donald!!!

I doubt we will see that.
Good behavior might not be in his DNA.
Up top the mountain did not vote for a good guy but, one that could get the job done.

Remember his objectives: to to what's best in his estimation, for Donald Trump. The damage he's done so far is incidental, in his mind, to the fact that he's made a huge profit on being president.

Did you really believe him when he said, he'd be working for you?

Trump has done more so as to Make America Great Again
than out last 5 presidents.
And (most) people realize that (fact).
Goats are betting two bales of alfalfa that Trump will be re-elected.
They were right last time when the word had it that Hillary was a shoe in.

Trump has done more to tear the American idea apart than any President. He's closer to Hitler than Reagan.
And (most) people realize that (fact).
Maybe you haven't seen the latest polls.

I voted for sticking with Trump. I think that our country is on a disastrous, catastrophic trajectory, but I don't want to give Pence the advantage of being an incumbent in 2020.

Provided that Democrats win at least one house of Congress in 2018 (and I am certainly working hard for that cause) we will be able to contain any further damage Trump (or Pence) could inflict on the 99%. Impeachment and removal from office is an impossible goal--67% of Senators would never vote for him to be removed. I am astonished--SMH--at how compliant and obsequious Republicans are, given his performance in office.

But investigations should continue. I am really looking forward to a new House Finance Committee being able to access all Trump's tax returns. I think that the answers to many of our questions and concerns are contained in them, if we only follow the money. And Mueller has 13 tax lawyers working on his team right now.

If it weren't for little things like the circus that the Senate Democrats
ran through the Kavanaugh hearings, culminating with an obvious
12th hour smear, Antifa, MeToo, Maxine Waters, Diane Feinstein,
Spartacus and the general nuisance that the DNC has shown itself
to be since Trump was elected, they might have had a chance.

People are getting really tired of seeing delay, resist and obstruct
for no better reason than they hate our President.

If you give it to the poor, are they going to provide jobs?

Yes. Why? Because they are most likely to spend it. If you don't have enough to live comfortably, or to get to work, and someone gives you money, you'll spend it on food or medicine, or a car or gasoline so that you can get to a job. So how (aside from having that person get employment) does it increase jobs?

Basic economics. If people spend more, that means other people are making more money, and need to provide more goods and services. So they hire more people.

You don't want to give it to anyone with a higher marginal propensity to save; you want that money back into the working economy. Basic economics.
Marginal propensity to save - Wikipedia

And how has the second changed since the 50's or 60's

There are a lot more jobs now, of course. Even with the boomers entering retirement, the percentage of people in active employment is higher now than in the 1950s and 1960s. But it's declining as our largest demographic group reaches retirement age.

The percentage of people working has been in decline since 2008. If you need a clue, subtract 2008 from 1945, and you'll figure it out.

other than getting progressively worse?

Even with the retirement of the boomers, we have a higher percentage of people working now than in the 50s or 60s.
Graph of the week: Percent of U.S. population over age 20 in employment

It won't go on for very long, of course. Eventually, all of the boomers will be retired and then as they start to die off, the percentage will rise again.

Assuming Trump doesn't do more things to damage the economy like his trade wars.

I don't think the American people hate Trump. Some of them even still support him. And the majority who do not support him, mostly think if him as a failure, not someone to be hated.

According to the RCP average of polls, Trump has a 53.3 percent disapproval rate and an approval rate in the low 40s. Which is actually better than he has been for a while.

He's been quiet lately, so it's going relatively well for him now.

Recognizing that Trump's policies and actions are hurting most Americans, destabilizing our environment, and threatening our national security has nothing to do with "hate."

When you recognize our country is in danger, the patriotic thing to do is to work to enact positive change. I am doing that by writing my representatives (the three most unresponsive men in Congress), working for and contributing to Democratic candidates in the 2018 election, and supporting positive change.

It doesn't work. Say there is $500 billion available for tax cuts.

You can either give $20 to people who file taxes whether or not
they have paid in money to the government. They can go out and
splurge on a few gallons of gas or lunch for 2 at McDonalds. In a
week, the extra money is gone.

Or you can give it to a few thousand companies as incentive to
modernize, expand and hire more people.

"Let's get something out of the way right now: Any tax cut or even tax simplification plan will always favor the rich. The rich pay the most taxes and spend the most money to have their taxes prepared. There is no way to make those changes without benefiting them the most.

It may seem more fair to only cut tax rates for the middle class filers, but there's simply not that much more left to cut. The middle class is already not paying much of the total federal tax burden as it is.
(And the poor pay nothing. @pat)
Stop acting like tax cuts for the rich are a bad thing
