If everyone is in touch with god and he never makes a mistake and is willing and able to give directions (my sheep hear my voice)….how come so many people post asking "is this ok?" or "is that ok?" or "is this wrong?" or "what about that?".
Surely there should be no doubt....is god not able to give one consistent answer or are people just not bothered to listen?
Ever since the fall, the human has never been on top of the confusion about God's character (as a species .. there are a few distinguished ones, such as the true prophets, 1 John 2:27).
Jesus told us that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. He said that a sinner does not abide in the house forever, but a son does, and therefore if the son makes a person free they shall indeed be free.
Consequently we must conclude that some who are in the house of God are temporary dwellers .. they will not survive the flood because they have made lies their refuge (Isaiah 28:17-18, Matthew 7:24-27).
If you read Jeremiah 5 you can see that the problem is due to the deficiency of the love of truth to the point that they are doing injustice in the city of God. This is the reality of the struggle: that there are so many false teachers in the world, people are getting ideas about Christianity that are not from the spirit of Christ (John 10:10, John 13:35), and the wrong belief leads them to serve the desires of the flesh to do sin (pride, wrath, envy etc) rather than love (patient, kind, gentle, rejoicing in truth - 1 Corinthians 13 and 1 John 4:16.
As soon as a person's belief causes them to depart from repentance, they have chosen to oppose the truth, and that can only happen by their having chosen deception.
Jesus named the devil as the father of lies, therefore we can say that those who have beliefs that cause them to oppose the truth, have been taken captive by the devil.
Think heavily on Ephesians 4:8 and you will see that meaning behind it: "He led captivity captive and gave gifts of men" .. but it also is written where I showed you before, that false teachers came among Christianity 2,000 years ago, (Matthew 13:25). As a result, the spirit of the antichrist came to take captives through the name of Jesus, under the guise of teaching Christianity, but in fact it was subtle heresies (2 Peter 2:1-2, 1 John 4).
So therefore Christianity is now swimming in doctrines that oppose truth, because it has come from the father of lies .. but the scriptures themselves don't teach those doctrines! .. no, in fact only the love of the truth can show us when scripture is being twisted and misused by those ignorant and unstable in their ways (2 Peter 3:16, 1 Timothy 4, Luke 11:34).
The translation of scripture into English is an extra complicating factor for us because there is an inherent inescapable fact that the bias of the translator's own spirit and doctrine is present in their work, as also the language itself is a completely different instrument than the writers used. Therefore English cannot possibly convey the full meaning to us in the way it was originally written.. the knowledge must be built up by the spirit over time so that eventually we come to read more and more depth of meaning in the scriptures every time we read them.
It is therefore not the letter that gives life, but the spirit, and that is what Jesus speaks of through John 15.
