Being shy is part of a person's personality. Why do you think everybody has to be like you in order to be a good Christian? Accept people as they are as long as they believe.

There are plenty of reasons people are "afraid" of social interactions. Maybe they have had negative experiences in the past with people who are rude and unfriendly. Maybe they have never been taught how to effectively communicate and interact with others. I can think of many reasons that have nothing to do with sexual chastity.

And, in fact, someone equating not looking someone in the eye with a lack of chastity is probably a much surer sign that the person themselves has a perverted mind.

And if you avoid being accused of staring them down in order to remain peaceful "insofar as you are able" it does not mean you have sexual sin.

People who are prideful and unsaved will also have no problem looking you in the eye.

I might also point out that sinners of the caliber spoken of in Romans 1 don't feel guilty about their sin.

First, as Paul points out in Romans 6, a sinner is in obedience to his own master. He has no reason to be ashamed.

Moreover, as Paul points out in Romans 1, God has sent a "lying spirit" to make him fully convinced of the righteousness of his unrighteousness.

Such a person has zero problem looking you in the eye while lying to you.
