I don't believe it's the RCC nor do I believe that is even possible only on the basis of being able to read plain English text that tells us who the harlot is and where she sits and the RCC is not even alluded to whatsoever:

Revelation 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Revelation 17:15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Very few seem able to catch the details of these matters, even though they are quite openly stated:

Ezekiel 29:3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.

Will the real Pharaoh please stand up?

At some point one realizes the accounts are allegories of spiritual vs. anti-spiritual workings that have exactly ZERO to do with physical cities, such as physical Jerusalem.

But the majority will read about Pharaoh king of Egypt above and still think it to be just a man or a series of men and never as

the great dragon

And that is exactly what they are meant to see by God.

God has veiled these matters. Purposefully. Intentionally.

In order that people do not see.

Egypt cannot be a harlot, for Egypt was never God's own, nor claimed to be, ever. A harlot is one that claims God but then runs after other gods. The harlot would be one that knew the living God but deliberately twisted what God said and would be kinda' likened to a "wolf" or a "beast" so to speak in sheep's clothing. Deception of the utmost kind would define this harlot and an "in-yer-face" attitude to God. This doesn't speak of Egypt at all.

Therefore if we look at both the first beast of John's Revelation and the second beast, we come at an alarming trend that the first beast was ridden by the pharisaical religious system of that time before Christianity was even born. Then the second beast that came out of the earth meaning from many distant nations and tongues is the gentile world who would follow the Christian religion and just like the first beast succumb to the same apostasy or harlotry if you rightly call it.

So the end time religion is the joining of hands of the original mother harlot, the Pharisee based system with the second beast gentile christian religion.

It is corruption at its worst that both the first and the second beast will do to enable the unity of world religions under the umbrella of the mother harlot along with her daughters. The reference point of the harlot is the first century church and then the christian church was not even established according to the size of what it us today.

God's people come out of these systems because they follow Christ rather than receive the mark of the beast tied spiritually to being part of the end day apostate religious system that is manifesting before our eyes today.
