There is massive amount of debate among the Christians and even Jews about the authorship of the Bible. And there are books that are mentioned in the old testament but not available for us to see.

1- Joshua 10:12-13 says the prophesy about sun standing still was prophesied in the Book of Jashar. We don't have this book of jashar any more.

2- The book of isaiah writer is unknown, Jews believe there might be two isaias. since the Book has ended before the Israelites killed Isaiah. Further more

3- Deuteronomy says
[[And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6 He buried him[a] in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.]]

That book was suppose to be written by Moses yet it says
"but to this day no one knows where his grave is."

4- There are verses or part of verses from new testament theat are in KJV not available in NIV

5-
The book of Daniel is divided into two sections on the basis of its content: the 'court tales' of chapters 1-6, and the 'apocalyptic visions' of chapters 7-12. However, adding to the confusion is that chapters 2-7 are preserved in Aramaic, while chapters 1 and 8-12 are in Hebrew.

Further more KJV And NIV Bible deleted the two last chapter of the book of daniel. Its impossible for a simple man to know if he should read it or not.
If The book is meant to be followed why did God allow it to be removed?

This gives me a hard time trusting the bible. I would like to read the word of God not word of authors I am not sure who are they or what their biography is. The names of the books do not give certainty of the authors them self, like a book can talk about daniel but there is a lot of doubts and debates about his authorship.

What if some one put some thing in there for political benefits at that time? then I would be hearing a lie. Further more there is no 100% way to know the writers or know the correct theory about the writers.

So how do I really trust the bible as pure unchanging word of God, see all of these doubts among christian and jewish schoolars?

Just stop thinking that way and accept the things that you understand to be true! .. the rest will grow and make sense as your knowledge grows.

For instance:

"Stop judging so that you may not be judged" - there is wisdom in this, if you think about it and figure out how it makes perfect sense. It makes no difference to the wisdom whether Jesus said it or not.

The bottom line is whether you believe in the Living God of the Bible and that He has communicated with mankind through the Bible, and that the Bible we have today is that Word of God that was communicated to men of God who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write down what was revealed to them.

God does not force you to believe the Bible. He has written it, and left it for you to either believe it or not. It is not because you understand everything that is written or the origin of it, but whether you choose to believe it to be the true and not a lie. You can choose to believe that God inspired the writers, and therefore the Bible as we have it today, or not.

I don't know about you, but I choose to believe every word of the Bible and I make it the foundation of my life. God may not have been exhaustive in what He inspired people to write, but what has been written is true, scientifically and historically. I don't care about what unbelieving scholars say about the Bible; if they are not born again, they have no spiritual discernment at all and so all they can do is to view the Bible from a natural perspective and it is usually on the basis of disbelief that the Bible is the true Word of God. If they did believe, they would become born again Christians.

The scriptures were copied by hand for centuries. It's inevitable that variations in the text will arise considering the number of people preserving/copying the scriptures and considering how geographically spread out they were from each other and considering the amount of time separating them all from one another.

In fact, it's probably cause for suspicion if the texts were all completely identical to each other.

The larger issue is the different manuscripts harmonize with each other in 99% of cases, which is a pretty impressive track record considering that we're talking about a time span of something like 2,500 years.

Textual criticism is usually offered by people with a hostile agenda. The truth is that the scriptures are better attested to than other ancient (non-Christian and non-Israelite) writings, the veracity of which nobody doubts.

If someone questions the reliability of the scriptures based on textual criticism then the only intellectually honest thing they can do is reject 99% of other ancient writings as well.

19th century skeptic rubbish.

It’s called JEDP:

https://carm.org/answering-documentary-hypothesis

Good history of JEDP and critical assessment.

http://www.aomin.org/aoblog/2002/06...f-the-graf-wellhausen-documentary-hypothesis/

Long list to study below. Most are on the reliability of the NT manuscript evidence.

However, as @Oscarr notes, do you trust God?

Jesus refuted JEDP:

Jesus attributed the 5 books to Moses

Whether or not a biblical critic wants to take Jesus' word for anything is up to the individual. But no less a person than Jesus authenticated the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch. Jesus divided the Old Testament into three sections in Luke 24:44: Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms. Also, he attributed all the individual JEDP defined sections of the Pentateuch to Moses.

In Mark 10:4-8, Jesus quoted Gen. 2:24, which would be J--as coming from Moses. Mark 7:10, Jesus quoted the Ten Commandments, which fall into the E category--as coming from Moses. In Mark 10:3, Jesus refers to Deut. 24:1f, which would be D--as being from Moses. In Matt. 8:4, Jesus quoted Lev. 14, which would be equivalent to P--as coming from Moses.

Here’s more:

I basically take the Lord’s Word and trust it on His testimony. He sums up the Law & Prophets in His commands (see Matthew 22:36-40 etc.).

The Lord says it is from His commands on how we are to treat one another and on this basis hang all of the Law & Prophets ( see Matthew 7:12, & also read Matthew 7:1-12).

The Lord testifies of most of what we know as the Bible & what is written of Him ( see Luke 24:44-49). Note that we are not to embrace the harshness of the Old Covenant ( see Luke 9:51-56).

I have to confess that I have never fully understand how everything fits together. Even the OT mentions a new covenant ( see Jeremiah 31:31-34 & summarized in Hebrews 10:16-17). The Prophets testify of the Lord ( Isaiah 52:13-15, Isaiah 53). The Prophets testify of the Good Shepherd (compare Ezekiel 34 & John 10). It is evident that Old Testament is the Word of God.

The ancient Christians formed the original church manuals based on the structure of the Lord’s commandments and the Sermon on the Mount ( Matthew 5, Matthew 6, Matthew 7). The earliest surviving manual called the Didache attests to this (see http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/didache.html ).

Keeping the Lord’s commandments is the key to living out His Word. ( see Deuteronomy 30:11-20, Ecclesiastes 12:9-14, Matthew 19:16-19, Romans 13:8-10, John 15:1-8, Daniel 12:1-4, John 5:22-30 etc. ).

same deal with the NT's and St. Paul's long lost letter to the Laodiceans

"but to this day no one knows where his grave is."

Scripture speaks for itself. Moses established a Priestly elite. His hand-picked apostles & followers continued his traditions, completing his writings with their own "finishing touches".

Isaiah wrote much of the book named after him. Some of his pupils may have continued his work, ministry, and writing.

No one denies the beauty of a Cathedral, just because it took 100 years and many generations to complete, nor do any belittle the steeples as emplaced by different hands from the foundation. One inspired work from start to finish...

had it been otherwise, it wouldn't have been bothered to be finished.

According to some, the authority of (granted to) Moses has continued, unbrokenly, down through history, through the Priests, Prophets & Messiah & Apostles to the Church through to present epoch.

God knows all human languages, and can communicate fluently in them all, as God demonstrated at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)

Presumably, God "thinks" in some Divine Super-Language... even Hebrew is a "down translation into mortal human earthling terms"

Further more KJV And NIV Bible deleted the two last chapter of the book of daniel. Its impossible for a simple man to know if he should read it or not.
If The book is meant to be followed why did God allow it to be removed?

Are you sure? It shows up on Bible-Gateway.

Nevertheless, why not start with the "Greatest Common Factor", those books all agree are canonical...

you could spend a lifetime just studying those

yes, this & that person, cast aspersions of doubt, on that & this book... so begin with what is as yet untarnished with words of accusation...

again, 'twould be possible to spend a human lifetime just studying those first

It is far more important to put your trust in God, rather than in the Bible itself.
The Bible is God's way of communicating with us. If you say you trust God, then you have to trust that what He has said is true. God is not a man that He should lie. Therefore the Bible is absolute truth and we can fully depend on what is written in it.

The variant readings are merely cosmetic and are the result of different translations from the original languages. But the basic message remains exactly the same in all recognised translations of the Bible. The four gospels show the life of Jesus from four different perspectives, because there were four different people who viewed what happened. This is quite normal. You can get a number of people witnessing the same event, yet you can get a number of different variations of what happened, but they can all be quite true.

One Greek word can have several different meanings, but the Amplified Bible which gives the range of possible meanings makes passages more clear. In fact, even though the various meanings of the Greek words are there, the basic theme and message of the passage is not changed.

Those who have a foundation of faith in what God has said to mankind are not put off by the different ways of saying the same things. We know that there are different words in the English language that have basically the same meaning. So, one person can say, "The cat sat on the mat". while another can say, "The feline reposed on the surface of the floor covering." The statements are equally true although expressed in different ways.

well, are you choosing, for some reason, to doubt the attribution of the books, to the authors named (and their immediate "Rabbinical schools" of pupils) ?

you think ancient Hebrews just made it all up? They just got together in the wilderness... after natural forces escaped them from Egypt, perhaps the only such random coincidence in human history... and they said, "hmm... let's pretend our leader is named Moses", "yeah that's a good idea"...

But, if they didn't flat out invent it all, then why not just accept that what is written is largely true...

when in human history have people ever bothered to painstakingly produce parchment & velum, and write on it history (most of the Bible is historically based) which is just flat out fake? If they did, maybe they would have given the lies of propaganda to the Philistines or something... not kept the lies for themselves and painstakingly reproduced them, by hand, devoting their lives to studying them...

that doesn't start to sound implausible ?

"innocent until proven guilty"

why not just accept the Biblical books as accurate, except / until / where you can prove otherwise...

all known archaeology essentially supports the Biblical chronology

thanks for clarifying your position

At the Council of Jerusalem in about 50 AD, St. James, Bishop of Jerusalem, resolved the dispute and closed the council, by quoting from Amos 9:11-12...

from the LXX...

look up Amos 9:11-12 in the Hebrew Masoretic text...

and you'll behold, before your own eyes, a very different message

hard to believe one God in heaven could "speak out of two sides of His one proverbial mouth" when such sides are "light-years apart"...

did God say "Salvation" for humanity... or conquest... or both ??

Scriptures are not speaking for them self. I don't think the book of Deuteronomy claims to be the word of God. Its like some one is writing what he believes has happen.

He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. [Deuteronomy 34:6]

What does "To this day" mean? Saying that Joshua wrote the last chapter of Deuteronomy is only assumption. Specially that joshoua had his own book.

1- The fact that there are Aramaic verses in Daniel cannot be explained.
What was the point??

2- 2 Authors wrote Isaiah and other unknown anonymous priests.

Even if some parts of the book are true representations of the words of Isaiah, certainly major parts of the book are not. This had already been suggested by 12th century Rabbi Abraham Ibn Ezra, who pointed out that the prophesies in chapters 40 to 66, and in chapters 34 and 35, were written in a language very different from the rest of the book, and make no mention of Isaiah in them.

3- The Gnostics and apocalypse gospels ignores all claimed to be inspired by God in the same writing style as the rest of the bibles.

4- The Missing ending of the gospel of mark

"Buice: “The disputed longer ending of the Gospel of Mark does not appear in the two oldest manuscripts of the Bible — the codex Vaticanus (B) and codex Sinaiticus (א). Many of the Latin, Syrian, Georgian, and Armenian manuscripts likewise end with Mark 16:8.”"

5- The Story of woman caught in adultery is fake according to christian schoolars

"It certainly seems as if, somewhere along the way, a scribe added this story of Jesus into John’s Gospel in a place he thought it would fit well."

thanks for clarifying your position

At the Council of Jerusalem in about 50 AD, St. James, Bishop of Jerusalem, resolved the dispute and closed the council, by quoting from Amos 9:11-12...

from the LXX...

look up Amos 9:11-12 in the Hebrew Masoretic text...

and you'll behold, before your own eyes, a very different message

hard to believe one God in heaven could "speak out of two sides of His one proverbial mouth" when such sides are "light-years apart"...

did God say "Salvation" for humanity... or conquest... or both ??
Would you mind copy/pasting the exact differences side-by-side? I'd quite like to see what you have in mind. The instructions are not so clear to me for how I can do this. Thank you.

Richard Elliott Friedman, Who Wrote the Bible?

Yes, the Biblical texts themselves contain "forensic clues" as to their often complex authorship

Just because one book is a compilation of previous works, as John may be a compilation of a Gospel and an extra story of a woman caught in adultery, does not mean that the components are false...

true [Gospel of John] + true [story of woman caught in adultery] = doubly true

Again, just because the Bible as a whole contains Mt, Mk, Lk, Jn... doesn't imply that, hey, the component works must be false, and so must be the whole

The Bible has taken so much "flak" over the years, it's a wonder any of it managed to "return to base"...

but there it is, "back on the tarmac"...

"still operational"

more than can be said for most 4000-year old continuously accumulating compilations...

so why try to "kick against it"?

without some extremely compelling cause?

according to the Apostolic Bible polyglot, the LXX for Amos 9:12 reads, with some personal alterations according to the accepted Strong's definitions of the Greek words from the BLB website:

so that shall seek the remnant of mankind,
and all the nations,
of whom called upon the Name of Me by them,
says the LORD,
the maker of this

Amos 9 12 LXX.png
Amos 9 12 LXX.png

that agrees with Acts 15:17-18

But the Hebrew Masoretic (M) text reads, from the rebuilt Davidic Kingdom of verse 11,

"they [national Israel's Messianic Davidic Kingdom rebuilt] shall possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations"

Uplifting Salvation of gentiles has become downtrodden conquest.

Did God in heaven communicate to humans on earth in some sort of "quantum super-position", saying one thing to one group of hu mans, and another thing to another group of the planetary inhabitants ??

If not, then (at most) one of those readings reflects the original communication, which was (if either one of those wordings) either "salvation for gentiles who call upon God" = LXX = St. James Bishop of Jerusalem, or "Edom conquered & gentile nations possessed" = M.

Compared to M, the LXX and St. James are honeyed words in my ears.

I trust the providence of the formation of scripture, and the providence of God in my life to do the right things with it. I'm a protestant and I have doubts over Daniel 11, and beliefs over the Book of Enoch (parts of it) but what I trust is God's providence over me when I read either. I have put my life into the guidance of His hands, and that is what I trust in. That is not to say that scripture is untrustworthy, but that I trust in God to so order it and my life that I would come out on the right side of the things I am unable to acquire certainty about.

It's not so much who wrote the bible as it is what it says. For example, Moses wrote the law, and the first few books of the bible are referred to as "the law" but Moses did not write the first few books entirely.

If you have some doubts about the bible it depends on what those doubts are. Who wrote the individual books is not a doubt of any real importance. That may even be a good place to begin a study on the origins of the bible. It will be good for you.

But whatever you do, keep your faith in God and Christ. Not the bible. If you hold the bible to be an example of perfection you will be disappointed.
