As the article says it's hard to believe that he heard nothing. There were very public rumors. So he could say what he heard was rumor and nothing official.

That might be slightly believable. But to say he heard nothing just.... That absolute is not believable.

Or it shows a bishop so disconnected from the daily life of these diocese and priests.

So it's true: Wuerl fled the US, lest he be subpoenaed.
No evidence of that yet. But if he stays there permanently you could speculate it. Premature for now.

Isn't he back in the U.S.? I could've sworn he offered Mass or something in DC last Sunday. I remember, because a poster on Reddit was at that Mass and he was pretty upset that Wuerl was there, plus the news networks ran a few stories on it.
