Do you think that's a proper way of handling this situation as a christian? Going around blaming innocent people of horrible crimes?

To reserve judgment and not compliment anyone that I'm not certain isn't a rank heretic or sexual molester in this climate of widespread heresy and sexual abuse of children? Yes.

I'm not blaming any innocent people.

If there were any priests that I were 100% absolutely certain were faithful, I would compliment and encourage them. I am not 100% certain about anyone, that much I have learned over the years.

The only priests you can give a word of support to are the ones who haven't been caught... yet.

I honestly don't feel confident giving any priest a word of support. Some of the bad priests gave no indication that they were bad. You don't always know which ones are bad by any obvious indicators.
Actualky, I have just discovered that today. I am in a bad place

thank you woodsy....it may be a woman survivor thing for me to be shaken with the church, but not my faith in god almighty.

Agreed; my faith remains in God, but I do not trust any earthly institutions further than I can throw them. I am of a suspicious nature to start, but these times especially require suspicion. When rot spreads throughout a tree, safety requires suspicion of every branch which hangs over the crib of every child.

God bless you

And God bless you as well.

my assaults have been thru other areas, so I fear sometimes more than others can grasp

and that's OK, I understand

I'm glad you shared, bc its the sneeky ones that got me

Having the ability to trust is truly hard for me.

I totally trust God.

But mankind?

Not so much lately.

but I accept the challenge and want my faith formation to continue as God directs my path and builds my character for the better.

God bless you
Kat, God bless you. I sent you a PM. Not sure if you would have seen it or not.

No one should be locked up without proof, but if I suspect my neighbor of being a child molester, I am not going to let my kids play with him, regardless of whether he's been convicted or not. I am not a court of law.

There are survivor networks and communities out there, there has got to be. @chevyontheriver mentioned it, so others should know that they are not alone.

Bear with me on this point: One man, Larry Nassar is responsible for over 400 assaults that we know of so far, and hes just one man.

There are so many out there who are ill, and yes, we must pray for them, as well as build up each other and love one another.

One of the best gifts I ever got in my lifetime, came thru the army of survivors and Aly Raisman.

This is only related here in that it shows that survivors can find a voice and get help and advocacy for sexual assaults.

Thanks for your patience

But since no minors were involved ... who are we to judge?

What makes me angry about it are all of the ones who are half-way discrete about it and don't get arrested.
They did it in a public place where minors could have witnessed it.

Have you ever considered the burden on their shoulders? To be a suspect just for serving God as a priest.
I think we should try to handle this in a less judgemental way.

We have to remove ALL priests that are either proven guilty or whom we know are being in serious questions and with allegations against them.

We should start by kicking out that 1/ 3rd of the cardinals refered to as the gay mafia of the Vatican and take it from there.
Until the pope does this he has no integrity nor authority in my eyes.

Accusations implicitly or explicitly against random priests are sinful and quite evil.

I agree with you; I've accused no one. I simply refuse to assume the innocence of anyone.

Being able to rely upon the Church to act swiftly and decisively in any such case would allow me to be more charitable in my thoughts.

Why do these people become priests? I'd really like to know.
I was talking about my haunted house to some people and a priest said to me "I don't believe in that." I said, "You don't believe in demons?" He walked away in a huff. I couldn't understand how a man who didn't believe what the bible says (that demons do exist) would want to be a priest--other than to undermine the Church from the inside out.

Then you are suspicious of the majority of actually good priests and bishops. They are suffering when people spit on them, shun them, see them as under the same cloud as the bad ones.

The Catholic Church deals in centuries and not weeks. This is a strength and a weakness. The strength of it is that no one fad can have much effect. That IS a real strength. But the weakness of it is when action is needed NOW it only happens 20 years later. The good thing here is that action was needed in 2002, which means we have only four years before this gets fixed.

Jesus spoke of demons and hell more than anyone. Maybe the priest thinks it's some sort of allegory or something. I've met those types.

Alsop perhaps he does not think of a ghost haunting a home as a demon. Perhaps he things that not all spirits are necessarily demons, I guess.

Could be. But the Church is on record exorcising demons from people, places and things. So I'm not sure where the guy is coming from.

We're not in anyway required to be polite against these people. They've lost their right to be called father and your eminence!

This stuff is DEAD serious to those unfaithful priests!

He seemed really hostile regarding 'ghostly, demonic' situations. My boyfriend was baptized by this priest and was upset to see him dismissing demonic activity--considering it's in the bible.

I heard a priest once say that the OT God is a different God than the NT. Go figure!
