Not sure what you mean.
I mean parts of Matthew 24, Mark13, Luke 21 apply specifically to that generation of the disciples.

Other parts - key in on > after the gospel has been preached to the nations, and the time of the gentiles comes to an end - are end times, our generation.

Just as Revelation, parts apply specifically to John's generation, the message to the church's, on how Christians are supposed to behave until Jesus comes. While other parts, Revelation 6-19 apply to the 70th week of Daniel 9, the end times. Our generation.

That is why I am harmonizing as much of the Olivet Discourse to Revelation when I can, primarily using the greek texts.
This ties Luke 21 to Revelation perfectly, with Luke 21 being the destruction of Jerusalem in 70ad.

Hello.
Can we please just stick to the harmonizing of the Olivet Discourse?

If you want to discuss Revelation, you are welcome to create a thread on it and thereby not derail this one.
Thanks
Sorry I didn't mean to harm your harmonazation with scriptural facts showing that the Jerusalem of Luke 21 is 70AD while the Jerusalem spoken of In Matt 24 and Mark 13 is a future Jerusalem. Please feel free to dance in the tulips and pay no attention to the briars.

In Revelation 10:7, to you, what is the Mystery of God?
Paul explains it to the Saints here

Colossians 1:
26 The Mystery having been hidden from the ages and from the generations now yet was made manifest to His Saints.
27 To-whom wills, the GOD, to make known any the riches of the glory of the Mystery, this, in the Nations
which is Christ in ye the hope of glory.

4537. salpizo sal-pid'-zo from 4536; to trumpet, i.e. sound a blast (literally or figuratively):--(which are yet to) sound (a trumpet)

Used only 2 times outside of Revelation
Matthew 6:2 and:

The following is a post from a member from another thread:

70th Week - It Is Still Pending

Quote: BABerean2

Olivet Timing Revealed by Luke’s Gospel:
Matthew 24:15-16 and Luke 21:20-21 are clearly parallel accounts, because we have the exact same warning to flee from Judea to the mountains in the second verse of each Gospel.

Compare Luke's Gospel to that of Matthew if you want to understand the timing.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple (These subtitles are found in e-Sword.)

Luke 21:
5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
6 "These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."

(Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." )

Luke 21:7 So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?"

(Matthew 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?")

(Mark 13:
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,
4 "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?")

Luke 21:8 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them.

(Matthew 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. )

Luke 21:9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately."

(Matthew 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.)

Jesus Foretells Wars and Persecution

Luke 21:10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

(Matthew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.)

Luke 21:11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

(Matthew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )

Luke 21:12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.

(Matthew 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.) (Read Acts 22:19-20, where Paul reveals that he fulfilled this text.)

Luke 21:
13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.
16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.
17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.

(Matthew 24:10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. )

Luke 21:
18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost.
19 By your patience possess your souls.

(Matthew 24:13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.)

Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

Luke 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. (See also Luke 19:41-44)

(Matthew 24:15 "Therefore when you see the 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),

Luke 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.

(Matthew 24:16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.)

Luke 21:
22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.

(Matthew 24:19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! ) (See Luke 23:27-31 where Jesus warned the women weeping for Him.)

Luke 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
(Almost all Bible scholars agree that the first part of the verse above is about 70 AD. At the end of the verse we find a period of time known as “the times of the Gentiles”.

In the verses that follow we find the future Second Coming of Christ.)

The Coming of the Son of Man

Luke 21:25 "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

(Matthew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.)

Luke 21:
26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

(Matthew 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.)

Luke 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

(Matthew 24:33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

From "Antiquities of the Jews" by Josephus, Book 12, chapter 7

"6. When therefore the generals of Antiochus's armies had been beaten so often, Judas assembled the people together, and told them, that after these many victories which God had given them, they ought to go up to Jerusalem, and purify the temple, and offer the appointed sacrifices.
But as soon as he, with the whole multitude, was come to Jerusalem, and found the temple deserted, and its gates burnt down, and plants growing in the temple of their own accord, on account of its desertion, he and those that were with him began to lament, and were quite confounded at the sight of the temple; so he chose out some of his soldiers, and gave them order to fight against those guards that were in the citadel, until he should have purified the temple.
When therefore he had carefully purged it, and had brought in new vessels, the candlestick, the table [of shew-bread], and the altar [of incense], which were made of gold, he hung up the veils at the gates, and added doors to them. He also took down the altar [of burnt-offering], and built a new one of stones that he gathered together, and not of such as were hewn with iron tools.
So on the five and twentieth day of the month Casleu, which the Macedonians call Apeliens, they lighted the lamps that were on the candlestick, and offered incense upon the altar [of incense], and laid the loaves upon the table [of shew-bread], and offered burnt-offerings upon the new altar [of burnt-offering].
Now it so fell out, that these things were done on the very same day on which their Divine worship had fallen off, and was reduced to a profane and common use, after three years' time; for so it was, that the temple was made desolate by Antiochus, and so continued for three years.

This desolation happened to the temple in the hundred forty and fifth year, on the twenty-fifth day of the month Apeliens, and on the hundred fifty and third olympiad: but it was dedicated anew, on the same day, the twenty-fifth of the month Apeliens, on the hundred and forty-eighth year, and on the hundred and fifty-fourth olympiad. And this desolation came to pass according to the prophecy of Daniel, which was given four hundred and eight years before; for he declared that the Macedonians would dissolve that worship [for some time].

7. Now Judas celebrated the festival of the restoration of the sacrifices of the temple for eight days, and omitted no sort of pleasures thereon; but he feasted them upon very rich and splendid sacrifices; and he honored God, and delighted them by hymns and psalms.
Nay, they were so very glad at the revival of their customs, when, after a long time of intermission, they unexpectedly had regained the freedom of their worship, that they made it a law for their posterity, that they should keep a festival, on account of the restoration of their temple worship, for eight days. And from that time to this we celebrate this festival, and call it Lights.
I suppose the reason was, because this liberty beyond our hopes appeared to us; and that thence was the name given to that festival.
Judas also rebuilt the walls round about the city, and reared towers of great height against the incursions of enemies, and set guards therein. He also fortified the city Bethsura, that it might serve as a citadel against any distresses that might come from our enemies. "

Josephus confirms above the understanding of the Jews of his time, who knew that Daniel had predicted the events of 167 BC, by Antiochus Epiphanes.
Josephus confirms it as a historical fact.

John 10:22 is a reference to the celebration of Hanukkah each year by the Jews of Jesus time.

The Book of Matthew was addressed mainly to a Jewish audience. Jesus was telling the Jews of His time that something similar to 167 BC would happen during 70 AD. Not only did Antiochus desecrate the temple, but he also attacked the city killing thousands of Jews and stopped the temple sacrifices. The temple sacrifices would also stop in 70 AD, due to the destruction of the temple. Based on John 10:22, the Jews were well aware of this historical fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy. Luke’s Gospel was written to more of a Gentile audience, so he spelled it out for them

I am going to start posting where all 3 Gospel accts agree on the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem mentioned in the Olivet Discourse by our Lord Jesus.

All 3 mention the Temple
Matthew and Mark mention "buildings"
All 3 mention, stones, and stone upon stone........
And all 3 mention the phrase "thrown-down"

Matthew 24:
1 And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple.
And His Disciples approached Him to show to Him the buildings of the Temple.
2 And Jesus said to them, “ are ye not seeing all these?
Amen I am saying to ye, not no may be being left here stone upon stone, which not shall be being thrown-down.”

Mark 13:1
And He going forth out of the Temple, one of His Disciples is saying to Him “Teacher! behold! what manner of stones and what manner of buildings
2 And Jesus answering said to him, “thou are beholding these, the great buildings.
Not no may be being left here stone upon stone which not no may be being thrown-down

Luke doesn't mention the buildings, but rather how the Temple was adorned with beautiful stones [as does Mark 13:1] and donations.
But like Matthew and Mark, he also

Luke 21:
5 and of some saying concerning the Temple, that to goodly stones and votive-offerings<334> it has been adorned
6 “These which ye are beholding.
Shall be coming days in which not shall be being left stone upon stone here which not shall be being thrown-down

================================

#3037 is mentioned in 7 verses of Revelation

Revelation 4:3
and He Who is sitting was in vision as a stone, jasper and sardine:
and a rainbow was round the throne in sight like an emerald.

Revelation 17:4
and the Woman was arrayed with purple and scarlet-colour, and gilded with gold, and precious stone, and pearls,
having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and uncleanness of Her whoredom,

Revelation 18:
12 lading of gold, and silver, and precious stone, and pearl, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyne wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel of most precious wood, and brass, and iron, and marble,
16 and saying, Woe, woe, the great City, that was arrayed with fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and gilded in gold, and precious stone, and pearls -- because in one hour so much riches were made waste!
21 And one strong Messenger did take up a stone as a great millstone, and did cast it to the sea, saying,
'Thus with violence shall Babylon be cast, the great City, and may not be found any more at all;

Revelation 21:11
11 having the glory of God, and her light is like a stone most precious, as a jasper stone clear as crystal,
19 and the foundations of the wall of the City with every precious stone have been adorned;
the first foundation jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

I voted "other" because it depends upon what parts of the chapters are being compared.
I voted "NO" but agree with Dougg. Luke doesn't have a transition to the Mount of Olives , no mention of the prophet Daniel.

Thanks for voting and posting.

Those 2 verses in Matt and Mark are the only 2 places in the whole NT that Daniel is even mentioned.

However, Noah is mentioned in both Matt and Luke [along with other places in the NT], but not in Mark....
[Tho it is in Luke 17 and not Luke 21]

Matthew 24:
38 “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 “and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Luke 17:
26 “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Matt 24 shows the Disciples
Luke shows "some"
Mark names 4 of the Disciples: Peter, James, John and Andrew.

Only Matt 24 and Mark 13 of the Olivet Discourse has the "Mount of Olives".

Genesis 1:1 (YLT)
"mount" AND "of" AND "olives" occurs in 13 verses in YLT.

Matthew 24:3
Yet of Him sitting on the Mount of the Olives, the Disciples came toward to Him according to own saying "be telling! to us.....
Mark 13
3 and of sitting of Him into the Mount of the Olives facing the Temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew inquired of Him privately...

Luke 21
5 And as some were speaking about the Temple, that it was adorned with goodly stones and consecrated gifts, He said,
7 Yet they inquire of Him, saying, “Teacher! .......

37 And He was during the days in the Temple teaching, and during the nights, going forth, He was lodging at the mount called of Olives;

Luke mentions the Mount of Olives in 2 other chapters:

Luke 19:37
Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the Disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

Luke 22:39
Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His Disciples also followed Him.

================================================

The phrase "Mount of Olives" is shown in 1 verse of the OT according to a Hebrew concordance.
I could be wrong tho........

Zechariah 14:4
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.

As per your request, I have looked at some of the posts on this thread and re-read those 2 chapters.
I won't vote, as I see those chapters as sequences of events, with Luke 21:1-24 referring to the early Christians, then the end times. Matthew 24:3-51 all applies to us, now in the end times.

As I have said; I just do not read lengthy posts of scripture, esp those written in a word for word translation. We have the modern trans, I trust them to convey the correct meanings.

In that respect, the Jews of today need to read Revelation, as that book is more for them than for us...........
Yes ... from chapters 4 thru 19 the Church isn't mentioned.

Why?

It's been raptured!

Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

The Capital "C" Church as we use the word today is not found in the entire Book of Revelation.

Individual church bodies in ancient Asia Minor are found.

In Revelation 12:11 we find those under the blood of the Lamb.
A person cannot be under the blood of the Lamb and not be a part of the New Covenant Church of Jesus Christ.

Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in Hebrews 12:22-24, and 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, the Two Peoples of God doctrine falls apart, and the pretrib removal of the Church falls with it.

And why I am preparing a pre-rapture "last will and testament"

Hebrews 9:
15 And because of this, He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those having been called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.16 For where there is a will, it is necessary to establish the death of the one having made it. 17 For a will is affirmed after death, since it is not in force at the time when the one having made it is living,

Found this site while googling "rapture will..."

Prepare A 'Rapture Will'

Prepare A 'Rapture Will'

Since I firmly believe that there will be a rapture (sooner rather than later) of all faithful Christians by Jesus Christ taking all of his believers up into heaven just before mankind's final judgment it would be wise to prepare a 'rapture will'.
A Rapture Will is where, in the event of the rapture, all of my possessions will be legally bequeath to all of my family, friends, and business associates of my choice who still don't believe in Jesus Christ and will be left behind after Jesus Christ raptures up his church into heaven.

I am sure some talented christian lawyer could assemble such a document and it will have the added benefit of alerting unbelievers, especially those mentioned in the rapture will, of the impending calamity coming to all unbelievers when they are left behind after the rapture.
It would be a great way to spread ones faith and belief in Jesus Christ when an unbeliever is handed a copy of a Christian’s 'rapture will' that entitles them to a share of property that the believer in Jesus Christ will invariable leave behind after the rapture has taken place.

Additionally, you can make a 'rapture will' video that includes a testimonial of your faith in Jesus Christ (and a warning about the antichrist and the mark of the beast) so all those who are left behind are not driven to despair as there is always hope and salvation in Jesus Christ!

If you are an unbeliever, and having read this are worried of being left behind when Jesus Christ comes for his church just before mankind’s final judgment, then just believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (God become man) and then get baptized. It's that simple!
Then make out your own 'rapture will' and hand it to another unbeliever that you know to alert them to their horrific fate of being left behind after the 'rapture retrieval' by Jesus Christ!

Sorry, but that is a very very very poor exegesis of this verse. Even a beginning reader will tell us that it was JOHN caught up. Indeed, it has nothing to do with the rapture: it happened around 95 AD and John was called up for a purpose: so we could have his book to read!

Next, if we study chapters 4 & 5, we see it was a vision of the PAST for John: John was looking into the throne room, NOT of 95 AD, but perhaps 31 AD - a time while Jesus was still on the earth. Don't take my word for it: go back and study it! Jesus does not get back into the throne room until chapter 5 when John saw the moment He arrived after He ascended - around 32 AD. Oh, it was the very moment the Holy Spirit was sent down.

Where then IS the rapture found in Revelation? It is between the 5th seal and the 6th seal. The 5th seal is for the martyrs of the church age, and the 6th is the start of the DAY. The rapture will trigger that start of the Day of the Lord.
