I've been concerned about the massive spying going on and the police state that we are now in. I was concerned when Tucker Carlson said that he refuses to allow a cell phone in his bedroom because they've been known to be used to spy on you. So now I'm leery of that. It was on the news that our TVs can spy on us. Things are getting creepy! Today I read that the U.S. Marshals use airplanes to fly over us to suck up our data. Then I read that spy kiosks called SCKs are being set up in cities across the country that come equipped with cameras, microphones and sensors that created the largest urban spying system in the country.

SCK’s collect lots of personal information, like a person’s MAC address, IP address, browser type and version and their destination IP address to name a few.

Does anyone else think that this is going to be abused? It's like the government is some sick peeping tom. It's as if it's right out of an Orwellian novel. Our freedoms are really badly eroded. I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto.

I'm convinced the cell phone thing is actually true, at least with certain phones. My two friends have the same phone and I know my one friend, who is cautious on tracking, always leaves her location off and doesn't have many apps at all. Whenever we are all three out together and bring up topics, then they will both start seeing advertisements related to what we discussed - no matter how bizarre it is - by the next morning in their emails, on Facebook and through anything they do online. Both are convinced their phone is somehow picking this stuff up, as its usually joking stuff they've never searched online for before and really off the wall catered ads they've never seen before.

That confirms what my daughter said - she's had that happen - that's creepy. She had a drone with a camera hovering over her when she was unloading groceries and it freaked her out. I saw where China has drones that look like birds flying over and they film people. I don't feel comfortable in my own home now. I read that the government can turn your phone and camera on remotely. I just read that Zuckerberg keeps tape over his computer camera. He must know something. You know it's going to be abused. My husband did some security systems for the government and he told me some things. But now this technology is right in our homes. My sister-in-law had a baby monitor and she told me she could hear entire conversations of her neighbors. I don't know how it picked that up. I'll never use those smart devices like Alexa.

I think putting these kiosks up is straight out of an Orewellian nightmare. We're not going to have any privacy at all left. Technology is only as good as the person using it. What if you're walking with your spouse and the government hears your sweet nothings, or you complain about someone in the government and then find yourself with a bigger tax bill. I don't like it. I'm seeing this tech trend and it's invasive. I'm wondering why people aren't complaining - everyone is just accepting this new world in a fishbowl.

This is why the first thing I did when I bought my laptop this month was put a sticker over the webcam.
You were more informed than I was. I didn't put a sticker over mine until I started reading about all of that.

I just read today about the planes flying overhead and sucking up data. They're implementing facial recognition software. I think it's too invasive. My husband and I always used the excuse that we're not doing anything wrong so it doesn't matter - but now I'm looking at it differently. You know human nature being what it is (especially the unregenerate nature) that some sick government worker is going to sit there laughing at street videos of Joe Q. Public scratching his duff, or following Ms. Hot Tamale to see where she lives - which is a security risk - and a lot of cameras have zoom features - so use your imagination. It's like the government has a license to peek up your skirt.

Christians should be concerned - I think it's too invasive and has the potential to be really abused. Parents especially should be concerned.

Yes but it's something more when you're walking down the street and government snoops suck up all your data.

I've really come to the conclusion that we're in a police state. Didn't they do that in Nazi Germany?

This thread should have been left where it was because this subject is not a 'theory it is an absolute fact. People seem to be stumbling upon monitoring devices and systems more and more . In all the cases I have read and seen on tv, it is not the involvement of the government, but individuals and Companies doing the spying in the U.S. In Communist countries it is known that the government (rich elites) use every technological means available to them to spy on their citizens.
