“If Anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation.
If you carefully review that verse in Greek, that "mark" is actually in the context of money.
Other verses in the Bible supports this such as Luke 16:13 (loving money is hatred of God), 1 John 2:15-17 (Loving the things of this world including money means no love for God or having none of God's love)
Is it possible to be saved and hate God at the same time because you love money? That's the million $ question.
The "Beast" who was slain and is alive again is the Roman Empire.
