Do you think there is a difference between the kingdom of heaven and kingdom of God?
Not to this Brother:

Matthew 19
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

I’m wondering, although with the caveat that they have overlapping principles, that the kingdom of God, starting with Christ’s earthly ministry, is the initial state of being for a believer while they’re still living bodily on this earth. Culminating fully when they are glorified in the presence of the Lord in the kingdom of heaven. With the overlapping principles of earthly believers having dual realities of currently being seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 2:5-7.

I would like to discuss this passage in Luke 21 of the Olivet Discourse.

What kind of kingdom is Jesus talking about and what kind of Kingdom were the Apostles and Jews expecting to be coming?

Luke 21:
31 thus also ye, when ye may be beholding these becoming, ye are knowing that nigh is the Kingdom of the God;
32 Amen I am saying to ye — the generation, this-one, may not no be passing away till all may be becoming;

33 the heaven and the land shall be passing away, the yet words of Me may not no be passing away.
God's Kingdom was not far away. A few days after Jesus ascended, the Holy Spirit visited the believers in Jerusalem:

Acts 2 (World English Bible)
2 Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. 4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak. 5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky. 6 When this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language.

Interesting enough these forums seem to be about debates....but can one just examine some thoughts to see if others may have more info into the subject....?

I've looked at this years ago...I never came to any true answer....For one it's hard when you are dealing with many translations...

I would take the stand that they are different.
Just to see if there's proof for it.

I believe the Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are different...to the likeness of the position/title/place it now is present or takes on....As water is H20 and depending on changes in atmosphere it takes on different titles.
Also Jesus Christ and Christ Jesus...may be in refferring to before His resurrection And
After his resurrection.
And eternal life and life eternal.....one being a characteristic of the other.

As for the primary thought I've yet to read the whole Bible...so I would be lacking in anything I'd say...And even if I read it I probably still be lacking....unless God reveals it.......

I will return....
So I would say after a brief Google search of a man I repect, that it may be called the Kingdom of heaven because God always spoke from the heavens...that makes God sound far....But now the Kingdom is brought to earth...therefore God's will is being done not only in the heavens but brought to earth. So the Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of the heavens brought to earth....

For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

Romans 14:7
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

The weak in faith tend towards being judgemental, (fear mentality) the strong in faith towards arrogance (high achiever mentality)

Reminds me of the old psychiatry definition: those with a superiority complex actual feel inferior, those with an inferiority complex actually feel superior
And one has to constantly remember that anything ever given to them comes from God..

It is not at all easy to understand.

Jesus sat on the throne of David - Gabriel told Mary:

Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

This was God's promise to David, that The Messiah would sit on the throne of David. David was King of Judea first and then King of Israel.

Jesus ascended to the throne when he ascended to heaven:

Hebrews 1:
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

So when he ascended, he was crowned in heaven by God. This was the Kingdom of Heaven. (To be a Kingdom you require a king).

However God had vowed to take the Kingdom of God from Israel

Matthew 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

So it was impossible for Israel to have the Kingdom of God. That is why Matthew, addressed to the Jews, refers to the Kingdom of Heaven, rather than the Kingdom of God.

When Israel was destroyed in AD 73 by the Romans, and ceased to exist, then the Kingdom of Heaven could now be called the Kingdom Of God, and was given to all nations.
That is why in the Temple Prophecy (Olivet Discourse) Jesus said that once Jerusalem and Israel had been destroyed, then the Kingdom of God could come:

Luke 21: 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

I have a question....hasn't there always been a kingdom?

There has.

There was a physical kingdom of Israel, but the Kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom, in fact it is spiritual Israel to be precise. Most old testament prophecy points to Christ and the establishment of his kingdom.

Isaiah 9

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 16:5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

Nothing causes as much confusion as the identity of Israel, many opting to go 'red or black' by way of binary choice.

But Israel is actually defined by Paul in Romans for us as twins, Esau and Jacob, the elder serving the younger.

Esau represents physical Israel.
Jacob represents spiritual Israel, aka The Church.

So both sides are right, with the caveats of course that the Church has the birthright, and that the elder serves the younger, and all that that entails.
