I find it odd that so many people believe that Jesus never broke the Law of Moses when it seems so clear that He did on many occasions. I realize that many people buy into the formula that "since we can't keep the Law, then Jesus must have, otherwise we cannot get imputed with His righteousness". For starters, I see no evidence that Jesus' righteousness is imputed to us, and at least some highly respected theologians share this view.

It is true that Jesus is characterized as manifesting perfect obedience; however, never is it stated that He was perfectly obedient to the Law - this is something many Christians read into the text. I suggest that what Jesus was perfectly obedient to was not the Law, but rather Israel's covenantal role to be a blessing to the nations.
Don't stop now. Keep it coming.

Jesus said they desecrate the Sabbath. How do you define the word "desecrate"?

Matthew 12:5
Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent?

Huh? Sorry I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make.

You said, "The priests offered sacrifices in the temple on sabbath days sometimes and weren’t considered to be breaking the law".

I said, "Jesus said they desecrate the Sabbath. How do you define the word 'desecrate'?"

Are you claiming that desecrating the Sabbath does not break the law?

Matthew 12:5

What about the part where he says yet they are innocent? I didn’t say it correctly but my point is if the priests could offer sacrifices on the sabbath and be held innocent why would it be sin for the high priest Jesus to heal on sabbath?

We agree on that point (sort of). My point was that it was in fact a violation of the law, which Jesus called desecrating the Sabbath.

To be honest I don’t fully understand, but in 1 Peter 2:22 the Bible says that Jesus was sinless.
We are in agreement on that point as well.

My claim is that Jesus was setting the law aside in these various things he was doing. He said he was the Lord even of the Sabbath. So it was his call. He was living above the law.

Galatians 3:23-25
Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law,
locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.
24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.
25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

Hi all,

Some teach that Jesus brake God's LAW (e.g. the SABBATH). IF Jesus Broke the SABBATH which is the 4th Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11). Does that make Jesus a sinner? (1 JOHN 3:4). If Jesus broke God's LAW and was a sinner then how could he be our perfect sacrifice and the lamb of God that takes away all the sins of the World if he has his own sins to bare?

For me I believe God's WORD teaches Jesus did not break any of God's LAWS that is why he is able to take our sins on himself to offer us his righteousness to all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. Jesus did not come to abolish God's LAW but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17-18).

.............

DID JESUS REALLY WORK ON THE SABBATH?

In the days of Jesus the religious teachers of the day had placed so many man made traditions around Sabbath keeping that it had become a burden to the people. It was though in their eyes MANKIND was made for the Sabbath. It was so bad in fact that these religious teachers were constantly looking for ways to accuse Jesus of breaking the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-2; 10; Mark 3:2; Luke 6:1-2).

Jesus rebuked these religious teachers by saying that the Sabbath was made for MAN and NOT MAN for the SABBATH (Mark 2:27 and that he was the CREATOR or LORD of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28) and it was LAWFUL to do GOOD on the SABBATH (Matt 12:12)

The difference in what Jesus was teaching and what the Jews taight is that Jesus did God's WORK on the Sabbath and so should we everyday but God's WORK is not the work we are commanded NOT to do on God's Sabbath for it is lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath. It is our own WORK that we are commanded not to do (Exodus 20:8-11)

A few other OLD TESTAMENT references from Jesus in relation to doing good in the Sabbath..

Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests?

Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

BUT WHAT DOES GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT SAY?

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

Doing GOD'S WORK is NOT what the 4th Commandment is talking about please read it.

God's 4th Commandments says we are NOT to do OUR OWN WORK.

Yep NO secular business or paid work, no unnecessary domestic work, no buying and selling, shopping. This can be done on the other days of the week. God has made the SEVENTH DAY a HOLY DAY and we are to REST in HIM by FAITH in the LORD of the SABBATH. This is the 4th Commandment and one of the God's 10.

Jesus never broke any of his own Commandments especially the Sabbath which he created. This is what Jesus taught about the Sabbath in the NEW TESTAMENT.

.................

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP another day as a Holy day.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS....? :)

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word
The Sabbath law is about resting from ones labours. Not just individuals but the whole nation. Anything that a person does as a day to day labour should not be engaged in. But the law did not command anybody to lie around doing nothing, that anybody did so was an interpretation of man.
So if (for example) I enjoy serving the Lord and it is not a labour to do so, this is the thing I should do on the Sabbath, and if I have been crippled on a mat for years and somebody heals me, it is hardly a labour to pick up the mat and walk away.

The Law teaches us love (respect); it teaches us to love (respect) God, love (respect) our neighbors and love (respect) ourselves. Jesus didn’t break any law because everything He did was either love God, His neighbor and Himself. The idea/teaching/message of the commandments is to love.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.

There is no law because now we are not forced to do those things but we do them out of love; from the inside out. One time I heard that verse was supposed to have a semi-colon next to the word Love because joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and selfcontrol are Love.

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8-10

I say that following the commandments as a guide is not bad at all. The idea is that eventually you don’t have to correct yourself with it, you grow in love. For example, when I was younger I used to desire things others had. I used to tell myself, “I will not desire whats not mine”, eventually I grew and learned in my heart that I should be grateful for what I am given and ask God if I want something. Also, with the sabbath, I used to not take days of rest. I used to work and do things all the time and then I became sick due to stress. I learned that a day of rest was a necessity and God was actually letting me know the importance of it. Now, if someone has a real emergency and I am on my sabbath I don’t say no (unless I really can’t help) because I love my neighbor as well, but then I have my day of rest another day.

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

I do agree with some of what you have written. The 10 Commandments in fact SHOW HOW to love the Almighty and HOW to love your neighbor. Doing good on the Sabbath was NEVER prohibited.

How do you abolish a Prophet? (or a Psalm)

Luke 24:44
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

Hi all,

Some teach that Jesus broke God's Commandments (e.g. the SABBATH). IF Jesus Broke the SABBATH which is the 4th Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11) according to scripture this would make Jesus a sinner.

1 JOHN 3:4 Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

Jeremiah and Hebrews say the New Covenant replaced the Old (Ten Commandments). But the New Covenant imports some of them for instruction and commentary purposes. Christians walk in the light of the Two Great Commandments doing good in love for God and people.

That's a good way to put it. Thanks. Reminds me of this from the Council at Jerusalem.

Acts 15:21
For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”

Hi Dave, thanks for your comments and thoughts. A detailed scripture reply for your consideration provided below.
Jeremiah and Hebrews say the New Covenant replaced the Old (Ten Commandments). But the New Covenant imports some of them for instruction and commentary purposes. Christians walk in the light of the Two Great Commandments doing good in love for God and people.

Dave, The OLD COVENANT is made up of more then God's 10 Commandments. It was both God's Commandments and the MOSAIC BOOK of the Covenant that collectively made up the OLD COVENANT. Both had a different purpose under the OLD COVENANT.

1. GOD'S ETERNAL LAW (10 Commandments) spoken and written by GOD himself to his people on two tables of stone. (Exodus 20:1-17; 32:16; 32:28) God's LAW was not made by Moses it was made by God alone on two tables of stone and nothing was to be added to it (Deuteronomy 4:1-2). God commanded Moses to keep the Tables of Stone separated from the Mosaic book of the law and both were to be housed in the ARK of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 10:5; Deuteronomy 31:24-26).

That is why God's LAW is referred to in the scriptures as God's LAW or the 10 commandments and not the 613. (Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13; Deuteronomy 10:4)

and...

2. The MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT FOR REMISSION OF SIN spoken and written by MOSES to God's people in the BOOK of the COVENANT (Deuteronomy31:9; 24-26; Exodus 24:3-4; 7; Colossians 2:14-17; Deuteronomy 29:21). This is were the other 603 laws were held many of which were SHADOWS pointing to Jesus and God's plan of salvation and fulfilled in Christ.

......................

THE SHADOW LAWS OF THE MOSAIC BOOK WAS PART OF THE OLD COVEANANT

EXODUS 24 [7], And he took the BOOK OF THE COVENANT, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient.

DEUTERONOMY 29 [21], And the LORD shall separate him to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the COVENANT THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK OF THE LAW.

DEUTERONOMY 31 [26], Take this BOOK OF THE LAW, and put it in the SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.

2 KINGS 23 [2], And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and HE READ IN THEIR EARS ALL THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT which was found in the house of the LORD.

2 KINGS 23 [3], And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, TO PERFORM THE WORDS OF THIS COVENANT THAT WERE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK. And all the people stood to the covenant.

2 KINGS 23 [21], And the king commanded all the people, saying, KEEP THE PASSOVER OF THE LORD your God, AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THIS COVENANT.

2 CHRONICLES 34 [30], And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and HE READ IN THEIR EARS ALL THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT that was found in the house of the LORD.

2 CHRONICLES 34 [31] And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, TO PERFORM THE WORDS OF THE COVENANT WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK.

.................

CONCLUSION: The OLD COVENANT was made up of two sets of laws which included 1. GOD'S ETERNAL LAW (10 Commandments) and 2. The MOSAIC SHADOW laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT.

Both these sets of LAWS had very different PURPOSES under the OLD Covenant.

1. GOD'S ETERNAL LAW (10 Commandments) where to provide a KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS.

GODS ETERNAL LAW (10 commandments) ARE FOREVER

The Law of God (10 commandments) which includes the 4th commandment is the work of God (Exodus 32:16) whatsoever God does is forever nothing can be added to it or taken away (Ecclesiastes 3:14).
God's Law is perfect converting the soul (Psalms 19:7).
It is the very standard of the Old and New Covenants (Exodus 20:1:17, Hebrews 8:10-12).

God's Law was spoken by God himself to His people (Exodus 20:1-22). Jesus says Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 25:35). Gods Law is still in force today (Psalms 111:7-8, Revelation 12:17, 14:12, 22:14, 1 John 3:5-8, 1 John 2:3-4 etc.). The Law of God reveals sin to us so we can see ourselves as we truly are sinners in need of a Saviour (Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4).It is the great standard of the judgement (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31). God's Law is our teacher revealing sin and the character of God and brings us to Christ at the foot of the cross that we might be saved by faith by Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood (Galatians 3:24; Revelation 1:5). Jesus came not to abolish the law, but to fulfil it ( Matthew 5:17-20 ). The law is the embodiment of truth that instructs ( Romans 2:18-19 ). It is "holy" and "spiritual, " making sin known to us by defining it; therefore, Paul delights in it ( Romans 7:7-14Romans 7:22). The law is good if used properly ( 1 Tim 1:8 ), and is not opposed to the promises of God ( Galatians 3:21 ). Faith does not make the law void, but the Christian establishes the law (Romans 3:31), fulfilling its requirements by walking according to the Spirit (Romans 8:4) through love (Romans 13:10).

You cannot know the power of God or the Gospel of Grace without the 10 commandments. If there is NO LAW then you do not know what SIN is (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4). If you do not know what SIN is you have NO need of a Savior. If you have NO need of a Savior you have NO Salvation. If you have NO Salvation you are LOST because it is written.

God's LAW
was written and made by God alone on two tables of stone and spoken by God himself to his people and nothing was to be added to it. (God's LAW; Exodus 32:16; 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13; 10:4; Exodus 20; Romans 3:20, 1 John 3:4; Romans 7:7; Ps 119:172; James 2:8-12; Hebrews 8:10-12; Galatians 3:24; Deuteronomy 5:22; Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 10:4 Ecclesiastse 3:14; Exodus 25:16; Deuteronomy 10:5)

It is called God's LAW or the 10 Commandment, because he was the one alone who made it and commanded Moses to keep in separated from the book of the law in the Ark of the Covenant (Nehemiah 10:29; Deuteronomy 10:4-5; Deuteronomy 31:25-26; Deuteronomy 4:13; Exodus 34:28)

God's LAW was not made by Moses it was made by God alone on two tables of stone and nothing was to be added to it and it was to be separated from the Mosaic book of the law. That is why it is referred to in the scriptures as God's LAW or the 10 commandments (not the 613).

The Mosaic law was made and written and spoken by Moses as directed by God in the book of the covenant.
(Mosaic Book of the law; Deuteronomy31:9; Exodus 24:3-4; Deuteronomy 31:24-27; Colossians 2:14-17).

God not only commanded Moses to keep the 10 Commandments separated from the Mosaic book of the law in the Ark of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 10:5; 31:25-26 nothing was to be added to it (Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Deuteronomy 5:22)

God makes a distinction between the 10 Commandments and the book of the law of Moses….

2 Kings 21
8,
Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

Together God's ETERNAL LAW and the SHADOW laws of the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT made up the OLD COVENANT (Torah)

..............

You are getting the Mosaic Shadow laws of the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT with God's eternal LAW (10 commandments) that give us a knowledge of what sin is in the NEW COVENANT and what is written on the heart throught LOVE (Hebrews 8:10-12; Romans 13:8-10)

Hi Dave, thanks for your comments and thoughts. A detailed scripture reply for your consideration provided below.

2. The MOSAIC SHADOW laws from the BOOK OF THE COVENANT of laws and ORDINANCES which included the CIVIL, CEREMONIAL and ECCLESIASTICAL laws were laws for the REMISSION or FORGIVENESS of sin which included the Leviticial PRIESTHOOD and ORDINACES for sin offerings for the SNACTUARY SERVICE. PRIESTHOOD, SACRIFICAL SIN OFFERINGS for FORGIVENESS OF SIN.

Ten Commandments were the Old Covenant

“And He (God) wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.” Exodus 34:28

“And He declared unto you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even the Ten Commandments.” Deuteronomy 4:13:

“When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.” Deuteronomy 9:9:

“So I turned and came down from the mount . . . and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.” Deuteronomy 9:15:

“There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt,” I Kings 8:9

“And there have I set a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.” I Kings 8:21

The second of these two texts is repeated in II Chronicles 6:11.

Consider “The ark of the covenant” that held the Ten Commandments (Numbers 10:33; Jeremiah 3:16, and other places)

Hebrews and Jeremiah say the New Covenant replaced them.

“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8:7–13)

This post only shows you ignored the post above yours with all the scripture in it. Did you read the post above yours and look at the scriptures?

Sorry David the OLD Covenant was NOT only the 10 Commandments.

As posted above your post, the OLD COVENANT was made up of both the God's ten Commandments as well as the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT. No one is saying that the OLD COVENANT did not include God's ten Commandments. What is being shared with God's WORD is that the OLD COVENANT was not just God's ten Commandments but also included the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT written by Moses.

You mix up your Shadow laws fulfilled in Christ to that which is the ETERNAL law of God and the KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS (Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4)

Let's look at the scripture proofs in a bit more detail and add the other scriptures you have left out. Maybe you do not know them.

............

WHAT MADE UP THE OLD COVENANT?

The OLD COVENANT was made up of two sets of LAWS. These included God's LAW (10 Commandments) spoken and written by GOD himself to his people on two tables of stone and the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT written and spoken to God's people by MOSES containing the CIVIL, CEREMONIAL and ECCLESIASTICAL laws for forgiveness of sin offerings for the SANCTUARY and PRIESTHOOD [Levitical].

The Old Covenant included; The 10 Commandments and the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT...

1. GOD'S LAW (One scripture only as we already agree on this)

EXODUS 34 [28] And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the COVENANT, the TEN COMMANDMENTS.

and ...

2. THE MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT (Also part of the old covenant)

EXODUS 24 [7] And he took the BOOK OF THE COVENANT, and read in the hearing of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient.

DEUTERONOMY 31:26 [26] TAKE THIS BOOK OF THE LAW, and put it in the side of the ark of the COVENANT of the LORD your God, that it may be there FOR A WITNESS AGAINST THEE.

DEUTERONOMY 29:21 [21] And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, ACCORDING TO ALL THE CURSES OF THE COVENANT that are WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW.

2 CHRONICLES 34 [31] And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, TO PERFORM THE WORDS OF THE COVENANT WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK.

yep its not just the 10 Commandments...

...............

HEBREWS 9:1 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. [9] Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] WHICH STOOD ONLY IN MEATS AND DRINKS, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[12] NEITHER BY THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES, BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

EPHESIANS 2 [15] HAVING ABOLISHED in his flesh the enmity, even the LAW OF COMMANDMENTS CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;[16] And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby

EZEKIEL 46 [14] And thou shalt prepare a meat offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a MEAT OFFERING continually by a perpetual ORDINANCE unto the LORD.

NUMBERS 19 [2] This is the ORDINANCE OF THE LAW which the Lord hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

HEBREWS 10 [1] For THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with THOSE SACRIFICES WHICH THEY OFFERED YEAR BY YEAR continually make the comers thereunto perfect.[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.[4] For IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND OF GOATS SHOULD TAKE AWAY SINS.

What laws are written on the heart in the NEW COVENANT promise? It is not the MOSAIC laws for remission of sin...

JEREMIAH [31], Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:[32], NOT ACCORDING TO THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt ; MY COVENANT WHICH THEY BROKE, although I was a husband unto them, says the LORD:[33], But THIS SHALL BE MY COVENANT THAT I SHALL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISREAL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR INWARD PARTS, AND I WILL WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE; [34], And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

2 CORINTHIANS 3 [2], You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: [3], Since you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, WRITTEN NOT WITH INK, BUT WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD; NOT IN TABLES OF STONE, BUT IN THE FLESHLY TABLES OF THE HEART. (see all of 2 COR 3)

The NEW COVENANT promise of LOVE is God's LAW (10 Commandments) written on the heart to LOVE through faith (ROMANS 13:8-10)

……………………………

CONCLUSION; Jesus did not come to change or destroy GOD'S LAW (10 Commandments). It is through GOD's LAW that we have a KNOLWEDGE of what SIN is. The sabbath is still to be kept. He came to fulfil what was written of Him in the books of the law and to END the Mosaic law for remission of SIN and the penalty of SIN in those who BELIEVE

yep it is the SHADOW laws that are fulfilled in Christ. The OLD COVENANT is made up of God's 10 Commandments and the Shadow laws in ORDINANCES from the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT.

You have your shadow laws mixed up with God's eternal LAW that give us a KNOWLEDGE of what sin is if broken. * ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; JAMES 2:11; 1 JOHN 3:4

Hope this helps

Jesus tells the Jews that nothing they eat makes them unclean, in direct contradiction to the Law of Moses.

That Jesus would break the Law is not surprising-the Law was a key element of the Old Covenant.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. He said no such thing. He was not speaking of the kosher laws, but eating with not washed hands.
