Well I sure hope that isn't directed at ME.
We have freedom OF religion here, and that was based upon a faith in God, that the Government would not impose upon you HOW you worship your faith in the Almighty God. Cults and such do not come under faith in God.

First Amendment rights limit government, not the people nor their choices in faith in God.

And it limits that government from imposing any religion whatsoever upon the people, or showing favoritism to any religion, and it guarantees the freedom and the inalienable right to the freedom to worship/practice any religion or no religion at all.

You don't get special treatment under the law because you are a Christian. In this country everyone is treated equally under the law, or at least is supposed to. If you think Christian monuments should be allowed on public property, then that means public property is open to everyone--including Satanists putting up a statue of a fantasy goat-man created by a 19th century occultist. That you find it offensive is irrelevant.

I personally don't care, and the reason I don't care is because I'm not threatened by or scared of self-proclaimed Satanists. My faith in Jesus Christ is not so fragile that a handful of provocateurs appropriating the devil to be edgy is going to do any injury to it.

I don't live in a Christian country, and I don't expect my government to show me favoritism because of my religion. And, frankly, I don't want to live in a Christian country because as history bears witness the co-mingling of Church and State never turns out well. When the Church tries to posture itself in such a way as for the State to be its enforcer what suffers is the Church--the Church's dignity and integrity. The Church has no need for the sword for her defense, we stand on the solid ground of Jesus Christ and our defense is our faith, our Creed is our shield. And God is our strong fortress, a bulwark never failing.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. —
The Satanic Temple temporarily placed a bronze statue of a goat-headed, winged creature called Baphomet at the Arkansas State Capitol during a rally to call for the removal of a Ten Commandments monument already mounted on Capitol grounds.

There are few sincere Satanist, this move is more about separating religion and state and demanding to remove all religious identities. Their point, however valid, is offensively made and they probably could have accomplished the same thing by supporting a minority group's religion like Buddhist to represent a legitimate claim to ones personal belief. If the state choose to keep it not all supporting the cause would be happy, particularity the groups that are using it to oppose any religious expression from the state. It's really just a big bluff and doesn't actually represent a genuine religious expression or need, it could just as well be the flying spaghetti monster. In the end the message is not a message consistent with freedom of religion but rather one that says "we don't want it get rid of it". The tablets were destroyed last year and then put back up by donation. I suspect it won't come down easy.

It is interesting how the Scriptures are so clear that Satan is the god of this world (John 16:11, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Ephesians 2:2) and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one (1 John 5:19), and that the whole world will be controlled by and worship the beast and the dragon (devil) who gave him power (Revelation 13:4-8), but we can be sure the erecting of satanic monuments ranging from the more direct to altars of Baal all over the world is not a big deal and just a manifestation of satanist "edginess". Of course, as this agenda expands it will still be regarded the those sitting on their hands as just getting "edgier" and more defiant, meanwhile the world governments are openly and increasingly discussing a new world order and their agendas to ensure it is established.

One thing would be true of this one world government, which is that it will not and can not be stopped and God has ordained it, and Himself given it power to overcome the saints (Revelation 13:7), pursuing them, imprisoning them and killing them. The real issue with those spiritually asleep amidst the faith is going to manifest itself in one of two horrible ways: 1. "Christians" who did not watch according to Christ's command and allowed the day to come upon them as a thief in the night when they could have seen it coming afar off (1 Thessalonians 5:2-6), and fell away during the midnight hour (Matthew 25:5-13); 2. False converts who will align with the beast and consider him more consistent with the "true" nature of Christ's teaching being peace (Matthew 10:34), unity (Matthew 10:35-39, Genesis 11) and tolerance (Revelation 21:8), and will hand their brothers over as terrorists and enemies of the state whose eradication they will believe is a service to God.

The point of designating the progressive manifestation of the mystery of lawlessness (2 Thessalonians 2:7) is to prepare those who are saved (John 16:1, Matthew 24:25) and to eventually awaken the soul of the pretenders to the faith or those who are overtly unbelieving to the reality of the only two kingdoms that are at work in this world, understanding the temporary and then ultimate outcome prophesied for them both. You will literally be forced to choose a side (Revelation 13), and American freedom and all talk of its glory will mean nothing in those days. We have to be salt and light while we still can, proclaiming and preparing no less than Christ did in the Gospels and Revelation the end to come.

Nope. Of the 10 really only two of them are, sort of, laws. Killing and stealing. and both of those would hardly be recognized by the original recipients of the the 10.

1. You're leaving out adultery at minimum which is illegal in some states.

2. Also the Sabbath is law, since it's technically 6 days and on the 7th you rest, we have labor laws that are based off of the Sabbath commandment.

3. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor: This is also supported in Law, for instance, it is against the law to lie in a court of law, also there are defamation of character laws, and it's all over the media regarding politicians that get in trouble for lying, especially to officers and the FBI is a no no.

just a fact: is that several of them are regarding stealing. Which is to say more than one commandment is regarding coveting.

God Bless :)

Great thing about freedom in USA is that it applies to all.

Yes, that's right. I think this event demonstrates that Christians aren't the only Americans who have the constitutional right to display their religious symbols on federal property or in public.

And this thread has already been godwinned by mentioning Hitler and Nazis. SMH.

If you read about these groups like the Satanic Temple or the Church of Satan, they aren't actually worshiping Satan as a deity, they are using the imagery to troll Christians, among others. I once heard it described as "atheism with a floor show". Most of what they do is done to get a rise out of people. I think the statue they've put up is pretty dumb, especially considering it was only done to make a point. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

The Pergamon altar was built somewhere around 200 years BC.

However, it has been housed in Berlin since 1958, and is indeed the model Albert Speer used to build Hitler's Zeppelintribune Grandstand, where he made his speeches.

FWIK many think satanism is just another religion... and some don't believe it exists at all! When I lived in MO there were covens around and to the west into KS... but when I ended back up in Florida and tried to share, they laughed me to scorn.

Evil is real.

That is the greatest deception of all, and satan loves it if you believe he isn't real. You've already chosen his side. He who isn't with me is against me, Jesus told us.

Pfft. A coven does not an evil make. My neighbor thinks I’m in some witchcraft coven, but basically I just like meditating outside with my girlfriends. Generally if one is up to no good in their respective faith, they aren’t that obvious about it. I doubt it was laughs of scorn so much as laughs of people who think you’re a sleeve short a full box of Ritz.

That's the part that these guys don't get. If you allow one religion to get their stuff on state grounds, you have to extend the same opportunity to all others.

This is one reason why the founders wanted a strict wall of separation between church and state. It's not like they didn't warn you guys about this.

I think what is more accurate than "get rise out of people" is "work to keep state and church separate".

Looking at global trend I like this. One day Christian might be minority in USA.

I read some where that was documenting the takeover by Hitler...and the Nazis... and the phrase was made "we were too tolerant" to oppose them.

Hitler also didn't allow any religions he didn't like. He was an extreme right-wing leader, too.

which can allegedly be manipulated, by wondrous means, by God in heaven
I just do not believe that God takes hand in every day creating earthquakes. As well I think too many peoples attack science and this is very bad for mankind.
