It would be best to be very clear as to just who you are directing this comment too, ViaCrucis. On my part, I'm going to assume it's not directed at me. Personally, I'm not against the U.S. Constitution's provision for order of ALL people living underneath it's shadow, or for its provision of civil liberty so that ALL can enjoy basic civil peace and well-being; however, what I am skeptical of is the actual extent that it will ever really provide this to all. Where's there's a Yin, there's a Yang, especially when it comes to politics.

This is their way of testing the limits of the first amendment to make sure it applies to everyone. Since it does, and since their ridiculous statue has no power, I refuse to be riled up about it. That's also what they want, so I like to deny them that in favor of focusing on places where there really is discrimination and worse against religious minorities (e.g., Syria, ISIS-controlled Iraq, Egypt; basically anywhere where Islam holds sway). It's a thumb in the eye to Christians, but it's not anything more than that, and we'd do better to say that if they are really about freedom of religion, they ought to join us in trying to extend it to other places where it's not like shooting fish in a barrel. As it is, they congratulate themselves too much for being defenders of a right that is not in danger here.

Also if you are really concerned about the statue itself, then please remember the prophet Elijah's approach to the idol of the worshipers of Baal in 1 Kings 18. That's certainly the approach that modern people would understand, as it is mocking but gets the point across quite well.

Not to you no. My issue is with certain people who seem to think that only Christians should be allowed basic civil freedom.

On purely religious grounds I also think getting upset about this is silly. 1) Satanists by and large are basically just atheistic edge lords who want to troll religious people 2) Living in fear of the devil is ridiculous for a Christian, as Scripture is abundantly clear that our victory is in the Risen Lord Jesus Christ, and that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

Using the devil to manipulate people through fear is not only unChristian, it is anti-Christian. Instead, boldly confess Christ, for the devil cannot withstand Him.

...uhmmm Don't the Clinton's live in New York state now? I think the people you should be giving the credit to would be those people who put up the 10 Commandments, they're the ones who made this possible. Well...them and the founding fathers of course for including freedom of religion in the Constitution.

As a Christian and not a Satanist, their stautue has no meaning to me personally, and since a statue that represents part of my faith is displayed... Why not?

I mean seriously, what's wrong with the ten commandments, most of them are currently US law anyways right? I'm not sure how a goat idle is more important than current US laws anyways.

Nope. Of the 10 really only two of them are, sort of, laws. Killing and stealing. and both of those would hardly be recognized by the original recipients of the the 10.

That would be "idol". And the point is the 10 Commandments statue is a religious based statue, not a secular based one and given where it is, it becomes a matter of the State supporting a religion. Which seems to be unconstitutional. You know, there is a simple solution to this problem: remove the 10 Commandment statue and that door's closed.
