If it's fake, it's a dumb game you shouldn't be playing. If it's real, you're playing with demonic forces. So don't do it.

If you're talking about whether other people can cast magic spells on you, demons have no power over Christians unless you let them. And the magic people try to do is usually just running around naked in the woods and making really bad tea, nothing to worry about.

I'm not Eastern Orthodox... but like GZT says... fake or real. . . if you're talking about being an illusionist, which is what most of those called "magicians" are... I think there's a thin line you shouldn't cross. If you're talking about the dark magic which is connected to satan, then yeah, it's dangerous.

If it's power you seek though ;) GOD is more powerful and offers more capabilities than satan ever could.

Be well.

Westerners seem to think magic is either illusion or fairytail. I've lived half my life in Africa and half in Greece and I can tell you that magic is not something to be messed with, which is why the priest's prayerbook has a prayer against magic. This it why it is important as Christians to live the sacramental life of the Church and trust in the power of the Cross. About 15 years ago when I was in South Africa and I was involved in catechising baptism candidates, there was a young woman who was possessed. Her deceased grandmother was a witch and kept appearing to her telling she must also become one. Once she was present when a groups was going through the baptism service in preparation and once they got to the exorcisms, she started screaming random numbers. Everyone was frightened and the priest told them all to make the sign of the cross and immediately she stopped. The same happened on another occasion when we were teaching a group to sing the Trisagion. When she was baptised, she changed completely, even her face changed.

Because I know that there is evil people who do such things but I am sure if what they do hurt other people.
I hope you got your answer here then?

There is the fake of course.

But there is also the real. "Magic" is a misleading term though.

If you're asking if someone can harm someone else with some "magic spell" , then no. Attempting to cast a magic spell harms the person trying to do it. It leads a person into an unnatural and unhealthy belief in the supernatural. That certainly never helps.

demons have no power over Christians unless you let them.

Is this biblical?

Please provide verse support so i can keep it for my records. Thanks.

Example 1: 1 Thes 2:18

Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us

Can magic hurt anyone?

Example :
1. The Lord forbids divination ( considered to be a form of witchcraft) for a reason. Deut 18: 9- 14 also addresses spells.

2. Divination is real. Done through spirits. Acts 16

3. Therefore, we should not mess with divination because it is real by the hands of spirits.

Satan hindering us and Satan having power over us are not the same thing.

Are you saying that hindering is not overpowering will even temporarily? If he willed to visit but couldnt isnt that being overpowered by the enemy? Or do you mean overpowered and power over are different?

I was just hoping to get some clarification.

I am curious if sinning, and satan taking a foothold the same as satan having power over us?

Case study Ananias and Sapphira and 1 Cor 5

If the enemy comes to steal, kill and distroy...do you have to willfully say yes you can steal, kill and distroy me or does he do so as a thief does without permission?

Case study John 10:10

What about forgetting to put on all the armour for the battle we are fighting and we get some battle wounds. Is forgetting armour the same thing as relinquishing power?

Case study Eph 6

If the enemy is a lion waiting to devour...what is keeping him at bay? Our will or the Lord? Does the Lord allow the enemy to enter us like Judas? I recognize this happened before crusifixion.

Some examples i am hoping you shed light on please. I understand Col 2 :13-15.
