The bible emphasizes that our God is a living being, unlike the Pagan gods made of wood or stone.

Yahwah reveals His name to Moses
Exodus 3:13-15.

13 And Moses said to Elohiym, “Suppose I go to the siblings of the Israelites and say to them, 'The Elohiym of your forefathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?”
14 And Elohiym said to Moses, “The Living that Lives. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'The Living has sent me to you.”
15 And Elohiym also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, 'Yahwah, the Elohiym of your forefathers; the Elohiym of Abraham, the Elohiym of Isaac and the Elohiym of Jacob has sent me to you.' That’s my name forever, the name by which I’m to be remembered, from generation to generation.”

As has been explained to you in another thread, Pagan gods were not "made of wood or stone". They may have been represented in wood or stone statues or other such artifacts, or such objects were believed by some to be inhabited by spirits. Not sure where you got this idea, but it's completely inconsistent even with ancient mythologies.

Personally, I think it would be nice if they were made of stone or wood so we would have some concrete (no pun intended) evidence.

Also, some friendly advice: throwing out walls of random, scriptural one liners are not going to sway anyone who isn't already Christian since they don't already hold such scripture to be authoritative. I'm not sure spamming is the best way to proselytize.

As usual you completely miss the point which is, "The bible emphasizes that our God is a living being."

Because the message is for the people here.

Well if we're being honest, how valuable is it?

Has anyone ever read walls of scripture and changed their opinions? How many people are reading the walls in the first place? Plus you've already scoffed at one poster who disagreed with you re: pearls to swine. So what you want is...

A captive audience that always agrees with you or remains silent? Forgive me but I think you could get better mileage out of a blog.

Gods of wood and stone

I'm going to call you out as intentionally being deceptive. Unless you'd like to provide some credible, academic source to back this up which I don't think you have. Do you think lying adds to your credibility or that it will somehow endear us to your religion? (It doesn't).

Just to be clear, I don't expect you, or anyone else to believe the Pagan gods exist since you have no compelling reason to do so. I have no problem admitting that I can't prove anything. And that's fine because they are benevolent enough not to punish anyone who doesn't believe anyway.

This is a public discussion forum. If you would rather preach unchallenged, then I, too, would suggest you use the blogging feature.

There is nothing to prove, man made gods are fiction. This thread is for public discussion.

Man made gods are a figment.

All gods are a figment of human imagination as far as I can tell, though they haven't totally outgrown their usefulness. Spirituality really does benefit some people emotionally. Religion will never go away, but the gods certainly will change. They often do with society.

Are you Atheist?

I'm pagan (well on paper somewhere I might still be Roman Catholic) but my understanding of gods is somewhere between Deism and Pantheism. I do not believe in literal, personal gods and they appear to me as very human creations. I've had phases of Atheism throughout my life and at the end of the day will probably always be Agnostic.

That's the horribly simple overview. :)
