Unless of course "day" is referring to day in the prophet's time frame. And we know that a prophet was observing these events as God is spoken of in third person rather than the first person. Furthermore given that the account is a vision given to a prophet (likely Moses, since it's in the first book of the Law of Moses), a vision can have different meanings that simply a literal one. For example it may be that the point is monotheism versus polytheism, which was the conflict at the time. That is, to declare the God created each particular thing, rather than a separate god creating particular things.

Another thing about the order. Notice the first 3 days are about creating the enviroment, and the second 3 about populating that environment.

Today remains the 6th Day at Genesis 1:27 since God is STILL creating mankind in Christ Spiritually. Jesus Christ IS the Image of the invisible God. Colossians 1:15 To be created in God's Image is to be born again Spiritually in Christ.

Correction: Day 1...YHWH/Jesus comes into the physical world. Gen 1:3
Day 2...Adam's firmament is produced and God calls it Heaven. Gen 1:6-8
Day 3...Land appears and BEFORE plants herbs and rain Jesus makes Adam. Genesis 2:4-7 Then He puts Adam in the Garden which grows the plants, herbs and Trees.
At the end of the 3rd Day...Jesus makes our Cosmos and the 3rd Heaven. Gen 2:4
Day 4...Jesus makes the Sun, Moon and Stars to go into our present Universe
Day 5...God creates "every living creature that moves" from WATER. Gen 1:21 This includes the sons of God (prehistoric people)

Jesus makes the beasts of the field and birds and Adam names them. Gen 2:19
Jesus makes Eve from Adam's rib. Gen 2:22

Amen, BUT has God already rested or is His rest in the future? at the end of the present 6th Day/Age in God's 7 Day Creation. Notice in Genesis 2:2-3 that it repeats that God rests from "ALL" of His work on the 7th Day. IOW, God ceases or rests from ALL of His work of creating, which is necessary in order to be saved. Gen 1:26 Gen 5:1-2 and John 14:16 It takes the agreement of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to create a sinner in Christ Spiritually, Eternally. God Bless you

Genesis chapter one speaks of God's Days or ages which are billions of years in length in man's time. There were TWO Days/Ages BEFORE our cosmos was made.

What is interesting is that your view AGREES with the current scientific consensus that is was LESS than a Billion years from the Big Bang until the FIRST Stars lit up, the NEXT Day.

The sons of God (Prehistoric people) diverged from Chimps and descended with modifications for some 6 million years and then changed (within 1 generation) from animal to Human intelligence 11k years ago. The first traits of modern Humans (descendants of Adam) suddenly appeared in the mountains of Ararat since that is where the Ark docked. Amen?

It also AGREES with Scripture, Science and History. The problem has been that we didn't know the length of God's Days/Ages. God has but 7 Days and we are STILL at Genesis 1:27 (6th Day/Age) because God the Trinity is STILL creating mankind in Christ Spiritually. Genesis 1:28-31 has NEVER happened since it is in the FUTURE. That's God's Truth. God has NOT YET rested/ceased from ALL of His creating. Amen?
