I think you guys are misunderstanding me
I'm saying do you think God would think and give someone a disease for being disobedient

Not from alcohol getting a disease cause in the past I rarely drank a lot
I'm just saying in general punish someone with a disease
1cor11
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

i agree...with what most said....
sometimes sickness..cancer can come from personal sin ...
and sometimes it doesnt......

this is all through the gospels where some got sick from sin...
some got sick but not from personal sin....

remember all sickness death came from the sin in the garden...
so in truth all sickness comes for the sin of adam and eve...
but may not be personal sin .....

Malachi 3:6 "I the LORD do not change. ..
.....God doesnt change....

on the other hand....
if you tell your kids not to text and drive...
and they get in a wreck...dont blame the parents....

in other words dont blame God for sickness.....
since He doesnt change he doesnt really have to make decisions...
at least the way we look at decisions....

He is eternal and....
His word is forever fixed in heaven......
He is no respecter of persons....
God is no respecter of persons: ...
Acts 10:34

all are treated the same.....

What is "punishment?"

In the military, we had two concepts that might be regarded "punishment."

In once case, the intention from the beginning is rehabilitation, redemption, and return to ranks.

In the other case, the intention from the beginning is expulsion from the ranks and from the service.

People here have been reciting the incident of Herod's death. Herod was destroyed with no intention of rehabilitation, redemption, and return to ranks. That does not apply to the OP's question at all.

Others have pointed out correctly that sinful actions often carry their own purely material consequences, even consequences that can reverberate through generations--but those can happen to unbelievers as equally to believers.

And sometimes bad stuff just happens, as Jesus points out in Luke 13. Good things happen to bad people, bad things happen to good people, and that's a result of us all living in a fallen world. If good things only happened to good people and bad things only happened to bad people, that would not be a fallen world, that would be a just world.

Your answer is a resounding mistake and error! Acts12;
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
Was Herod a believer under the New Covenant?
That question was rhetorical, he was not.

The OP is a Christian asking about getting a sickness from God. God does not put sickness on His children.
Jesus represented the Father perfectly while He was on Earth and He never once gave sickness to anyone, not even the Pharisees. But He did heal all who would let Him.

in the OT God did afflict believers with sickness....

Merium got struck with leprosy for opposing Moses and his wife....
numbers 12:8-11
Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?" ... anger of the LORD burned against them,...
, Miriam's skin was leprous-it became as white as snow.

That was then, this is now.

God does not change, but His covenants with his believers do.

The causes of diseases and cancer are well understood, and there is nothing supernatural or spiritual about them.

As written in Yahweh's Word: "..... many are sick and dying ....." (Ekklesia/ members of the assembly(-ies))
(Corinthians)

as revealed by Yahweh through Yahshua through the Apostles to the Ekklesia.....

because of sin.

Ask for Yahweh's Understanding, what He wants the sickness to accomplish - what is His Desire and His Will ....

Who "blamed God" ? (quote please)
Look around on this forum you will see all kinds of people blaming God for all sorts of stuff.
Not just sickness, but any tribulation they go through.
They will say stuff like this sickness is God putting me through a trial.
I think of Proverbs 19:3 at times like this.
The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

We make bad choices and blame God for the results in our lives.

Do you realize that in this post you "admit" (unwittingly?) that you and someone else included in "we" who you do not name
made bad choices and blame God for the results in your life !?

It seems in jeremiah and other areas of the bible if you sin God can judge you.

Im a hypochondriac and always worry of disease
and I worry by drinking alcohol will God punish me?
I feel guilty sometimes when i drink

Why are you a hypochondriac? Is your life not entirely in God's hands? Yes, it is. Has He not ordained the beginning of your temporal life and its end? Yes, He has. Why, then, do you worry inordinately about disease? Will your worry do anything to change your divinely-appointed time to die? Nope. Not at all. Is dying an evil to be avoided at all costs? No. It is simply the doorway into eternity with your Maker. Why live in fear of it, then?

If you worry about God punishing you for drinking alcohol and you feel guilty about drinking, why are you drinking? Continuing to do something you fear God might punish you for and about which you feel guilty seems very unwise. Often uncertainty and guilt are indicators that you are doing what you ought not to do.

I wonder if its because i was brought up drinking was wrong, or if its conviction.

It could very well be both.

I also feel its less of an example by drinking so it makes me not want to drink
cause just because I handle it, maybe it could cause someone else to stumble

Why, then, are you still drinking?

do you think God would think and give someone a disease for being disobedient

Yes, He may. Not always, but not never, either. The wages of sin is death, remember. Sometimes, the sinful choices we make have a natural destructive consequence - like overdosing on illicit drugs, or eating gluttonously and suffering heart disease, or living in sexual immorality and contracting an STD. God doesn't necessarily make a person overdose, or develop heart disease, or contract AIDS; He just lets sin bear its death-bringing fruit in a rebellious sinner's life.

I never claimed to be perfect. Yes, I have done this.
Lots of people blame God for things. They night not call it blaming God.
They may call something bad happening to them as God's discipline.

1. God does not inflict people with cancer because of their sin. This is a human fallacy. Cancer is a disease, the same as measles or the common cold. If God wants to cause an affliction, He could cover your body with boils and sores, the same way as the suffering of Job. BUT please remember that God also removed those skin illnesses from Job. Do not listen to harsh and judgmental opinions ... incl. those on this Forum or elsewhere.

God always finds a right balance between mercy and judgment. The Lord looks at what is in your Heart.

2. Jesus drank wine. Yes, real wine. And furthermore, he also said that he would drink good wine again in the Kingdom Of God. That quote can be found directly in the Gospels. But please note, Jesus did not drink alcohol in order 'to get drunk'. And neither should you.

Modern medicine suggests that small amounts of red wine are beneficial to your health. But only **small** amounts. There is increasing evidence that larger amounts of wine - even one glass - might be harmful (not beneficial). Therefore, enjoy wine in small quantities - if you choose. And without guilt.

Blessings!!

Your response was so well said
I genuinely appreciate everyone else's opinions and thoughts
But this was such a great great response
Thank you! It helped a lot

It has been frequently shown for thousands of years
that people can get sick by sinning , by polluting their environment with things like mercury, aluminum, msg, pesticides, herbicides, sodium fuoride, petroleum products, artificial food made from chemicals and so on.

1. God does not inflict people with cancer because of their sin.

I believe it's ok to drink, but to drink excessively until you're out of control is wrong. Ephesians 5:18 - Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion.Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Let's not over indulge ourselves with things of this world, but in the God who is our our daily supply.

Perfect love casts out all fears.

Job 3:25, "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me."

1John4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Prov31:6 Give strong drink to one who is perishing, and wine to the bitter in soul. 7Let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more

Paul tells us "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit". Paul is not saying wine (alcohol) is evil, he is not even really saying that getting drunk is evil but rather is saying getting drunk is irresponsible as it leads to debauchery or other sinful acts.

So the drinking alcohol part isn't the issue, the getting drunk part isn't even really the issue, it is what getting drunk leads to that is sinful. It's like saying don't allow yourself and another women to get naked together. Getting naked is not inherently sinful but it's just plain irresponsible and stupid to get naked with another woman who is not your wife as it leads to lust, adultery and essentially debauchery. So don't abstain from getting naked with another women because getting naked is sinful but because lust is sinful.

So don't get drunk because when we are drunk we seek sin more. So how does this relate to drinking in general. You must be careful when you drink so as not to get drunk and to know your limits so that when you drink you may give glory to God. If you went to a pub every day at the same time eventually people will get to know you and if you don't get drunk they will see that and look at you as a responsible drinker and one that doesn't over indulge. Through that you can proclaim Christ and he will be glorified. If you go there and responsibly drink your witness is compromised and your do not show the glory of God.
