Where to find a decent free 3D drawing program?

I'm an author, but I also plan to illustrate my own books. I can design some things just out of my head easily enough, like people and creatures, but when it comes to architecture, I draw a blank. It would make things much easier if I could use a 3D program to draw a 3D basic image of whatever kind of buildings I wanted, as I tend to sort of design things as I go, and it would be much easier for me to do that if I had a sort of basic model to try out different looks and styles with.

So, anybody know a program which I could use to draw 3D architecture models in any style I desire? Oh yeah, and it has to be free because I'm broke. If you can find one that isn't free, still let me know, as I might be able to keep it in mind for when I can afford it.

And yes, I already know of Blender. I'm just looking for something easier to draw 3D fantasy architecture with. It's just to help me get the basic idea in my head of what I want, not for the actual drawing, so it doesn't have to be super fancy, just better than Minecraft, which I admittedly have been using to get some architectural design layouts to help me conceptualize. (I'm that desperate.):destroy:

Isn't GIMP used for 3D too?

Is it? I've tried GIMP, but I thought it only did things like vectors and stuff.

Bender and Daz both have free versions of their software, Daz also has pre made people, scene and stages
https://www.blender.or
https://www.daz3d.com

I've tried Daz, but I want something I can make the models from the ground up. And yes, I know that I really should be using Blender, but I'm too lazy to learn all the doohickeys.:doh1:

3DS Max is free for two years, and feature rich. I use it to modify 3D models for game modifications for The Elder Scrolls V and other games, as a fun hobby.

https://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/overview

For simple layered 2D raster images and textures to wrap around the 3D models, I use the free Paint.NET.

https://www.getpaint.net/

I also use Adobe Illustrator to create scalable vector images, as I my employer has provided the full Adobe Creative Suite.

I believe student discounts are available for 3DS Max (after the trial period) and for the Adobe applications.
