Revelation 19:5
Then a voice went out from the throne and said, “Praise our God, all you his servants, and you who fear him, both small and great.”

Strange statement unless it is the healthy fear that overcomes the other fears.

Revelation 15:4
Who won’t fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? You alone are holy. All nations will come and fall down in worship before you, for your acts of justice have been revealed.”

Revelation 14:7
He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship the one who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

You see, the wicked once they have recovered from the shock of meeting God, turn to rage rather than the honoring fear of the saints. It is something like Pharaoh who had a change of heart.
Revelation 11:11
“But after three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear came over those who saw them. ....18 The nations were enraged, but your wrath came. The time came for the dead to be judged. The time came to reward your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”

Point re-emphasized by Christ...

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. - Luke 5:4-5

And the only one who can do that is God.

I think rather it is true choice of the will to obey Yahweh as He accomplishes our salvation, trusting Him completely to do this,
(love = choice of the will to honor and always obey; not feelings; not emotions)

this true love that eliminates all fear, = fear involves punishment,

and just like a little 3 year old son who runs along trusting his father completely in all things doesn't even think of being punished, has no fear of being punished at all....
unless, of course, he disobeys his father - does something he knows* he is not supposed to do ,
*wittingly or unwittingly, consciously or subconsiously, in spirit/ intuition as God says ....

Yep, the only fear a child should ever have is displeasing his father.

I think a true and healthy actual fear is warranted.

Look at Esther. Look at Leviticus 16. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah, The Exodus, and Jericho or even situations in your own life where you have seen God's armies work destruction.... God can bring tremendous and unimaginable power to bear. It's a fearful thing when He does... And it's not something to take lightly.

These serve to remind us that we still do worship The Great King of the Universe... The one who holds all life in his hands. The Prince of Heaven's armies....

And He sits on the throne..... And we need to take that aspect of God seriously along with Father and Comforter. You don't just wander in and start making demands of The One Who Sits On The Throne.... You don't disrespect, besmirch, and impugn that one without consequence...

There are times we need The King to do his thing... And we need to put in "An Official Request for Audience" And Leviticus in conjunction with The Sermon on the Mount illustrate how this works. And yes - fear and trembling is not unwarranted...

If you change the word to. 'awe' that is much better term. Awe conveys respect, obedience, authority, love etc etc.
Respect or revere are also good terms, as that is what biblical “fear of God” is.

If you have ever had the direct experience of coming before the LORD, you know you feel that blend of emotions that is both joy AND FEAR, and I do mean fear. We call this blend worship. By fear I'm talking about falling on your face before the King of the Universe who really could undo the very fabric of existence if he so chose, and it is by his grace that you are even alive.

I love this thought. I have often felt that some modern Christians tend to focus too much on the "G-d is love" aspect, which is true as well, and forget about the POWER of our Lord. We worship a Lord that is both all loving, and all powerful, can be vengeful when needed, and that power is something to hold in awe and fear. Personally I want to have a Lord that is seen as both love and power.
