Hello all,

My name is Samuel and I am a 26-year old from Ohio. My purpose behind creating this account on the site today was to try to come in contact with someone who can be a viable, reliable, trustworthy, Christian person I can connect with on a semi frequent basis, and who can give me advice on hearing the Lord’s calling for my life.

Just a little background about myself, at 17 days old I was adopted by loving parents who raised my sisters and I in the church. I attended regularly with my family and even was involved in bible quizzing and missionary trips. As I grew older and went to college, I grew apart from the Lord. It started in my teenage years with blatant disregarding for what I KNEW the Lord wanted me to do with my life - serve him.

Recently, I have been trying to live the life I know I should have been striving for since the beginning. I believe the Lord has called me to be a Pastor and to bring others to Christ in every single form possible. I have a passion for speaking to people about the Bible and have always excelled at public speaking. I know the journey to Ministry is a long one, and that’s why I am trying to figure out the first few steps. First, I know I must live my life as an example to others, and try my very best to be blameless and live a life in Christian fellowship. What steps do I take next? How do I raise money to attend bible college so I can start the road to becoming a minister? Can I skip that step? I never graduated college although I attended and cannot get any more loans.

I would love to meet someone who can help me take the very first steps in this journey that I am heart set on completing! God’s love is in fire inside of me and I want to bring people to him!

Welcome to CF!

I'm glad you can help our brother get started Scotty. :)

Just a heads-up - I don't think you will be able to reply to Scotty's private message until you have 20 posts and 5 likes. I'll give you a like. The games forums are a quick way to build post counts. :)

IMO, if you are doing this of your own intellect (ie, you are not following His instructions, because you are trying to figure out how to do it), then you are doing it for your own interests. It is better to become the servant, the bride as He has called us to be, and that means getting to know Him and following Him where He will lead you. Otherwise, you might end up being one of those who has taken what was not given to him - has coveted God's sovereignty, and because they did not open their ears first to hear Him, then whenever He speaks to them, if it doesn't suit what they want to believe, then they have an added complication of Matthew 13:22 that makes them think that His humble messenger (Isaiah 28:11) is of lower esteem (qualification) than they. This is the trap that all teachers are vulnerable to (pride/ego/Nebuchadnezzar/Haman, James 3:1).

Hi Sam, it's so good hear how the Lord's encouraging you to serve him in ministry. Do you have a local church you are involved in? Are you actively involved in teaching and leading? It's wise to seek guidance and I think starting at your church, with your small group leader, or your pastor is the best place to start your search. They are your shepherds and they already know you. I think sharing your burden with them will help them know how better to pray for you. I think they will be best people to help you identify your gifts as well as your strengths and weaknesses. And they can also help you find ministry in your church where you can learn and develop your gifts. I think this can be the first steps in seeking God's leading into ministry.
