Hey

I'm a SAHM of 4 children. 2 with a genetic disorder that has me in constant anxiety and stress. Including that, I think I might be depressed. Can anyone relate or point me towards the right direction? I do want to seek professional counseling and therapy but it's not an option financially, at the moment. Btw, I am a Christian and in need of being uplifted through prayer and His Word. Thanks.

I might suggest you not become obsessed with the genetic disorders. Deal with them but don't always be thinking about them.

You might talk to a pastor about your depression.

As for being uplifted by the Lord's Word, you can read from the Bible anytime you choose.

I agree that talking to a pastor, particularly one trained in counseling, is probably better than going to a professional counselor, especially since you are short of funds. May God bless you for coming to the forums and may God grant you peace!

Welcome to the forums. I am sorry that you are facing such trials. I hope that you will find fellowship, friendship and support here.

Although the forums are not a substitute for counseling, you may find some help in one of these subforums:

Prayer Wall

Chaplain’s Office

Christian Advice

Or one of the Mental Health forums

Hello friend and welcome to CF, I am a pastor and I will be happy to talk with you through message anytime. I know that life can throw curves sometimes and that it seems to be too much. But God knows our limits and He is always always just in what he does, He will never place more upon us than we can handle.
Bless you.

Hi, I am so glad you found this forum. I am a stay at home mom to 4 girls. I think parenting in general is tough. When I get stressed from parenting, I spend more time in prayer, giving my stress to God, and letting Him give me His peace. I have learned that I can pray to Him anytime, anywhere. So even as I am doing the laundry or the dishes or disciplining my girls, I can be praying for strength, for help, for guidance. God knows the challenges you face everyday, and He can give you exactly what you need. Could you find a pastor that you can talk with? A pastor can give you good Biblical advice and help you see your circumstances from a different perspective. I found a church at one point that had free counseling for their church members. Is it possible that a church in your area would have free counseling or charge based on a sliding scale?

As far as encouragement, these are a few of my favorite verses.
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deut. 31:8

"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you abaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy one of Israel, you Savior." Isaiah 43:1b-3a

When I was in the midst of a spiritual battle, this one helped me so much.
"Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases...
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."
Psalm 103:2-5

Thanks for stopping by and for the Bible verses! I am currently active in my church with some ministries but I haven't mentioned any of this to my pastor yet. I am still trying to brave up the courage to do so. Or haven't looked around my local churches to see if they offer any free counseling. Will try to do that! Thanks!
