What is the purpose of endlessly singing the same lyric or phrase?

Jeeze... If you don't like what is being sung, then write something better.. The songs we sing are the best outward expressions we can give to praise God all together. Why pick apart the structure when it's all about where your heart is?
If you are right with the Spirit and have built a relationship with the Father, it shouldn't matter if you happen to repeat "Hosanna" in a song.

The only purpose for the structure of ALL music (not just Christian) is to take you on an emotional journey. The repeated words are to emphasize a certain feeling that is supposed to occur in your heart when you really feel the words.

If you have better songs for us to use for our outward expression, then please share them with the world and set a new trend for what's out there. I'd love to hear something new :)

And yet we shall - for ALL ETERNITY - stand before HIS throne singing the same lyrics over and over and over. Read Rev 5.

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,
"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing."

13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,

"To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever."

14 And the four living creatures kept saying, "Amen." And the elders fell down and worshiped.
Those aren’t even the same phrases over and over again. Only “honor and glory” are repeated. I guess heaven also knows vain repetitions are mind numbing and changes the lyrics.

Modern christian songs have the best music and the worst lyrics in decades. Mind numbing narcissism as to good music.
Why pick apart the structure when it's all about where your heart is?
When everyone is singing a out themselves, that’s where their heart is.
If you are right with the Spirit and have built a relationship with the Father, it shouldn't matter if you happen to repeat "Hosanna" in a song.
It matters if you sing the on the cross he thought only of you or worse, the wrath of God was finally satisfied as Jesus died in agony. The heart cannot rise above the words.
The only purpose for the structure of ALL music (not just Christian) is to take you on an emotional journey. The repeated words are to emphasize a certain feeling that is supposed to occur in your heart when you really feel the words.
Ah, you admit the purpose is NOT worship of God but merely an emotional trip/experience so repeating (chanting) words does this true.
If you have better songs for us to use for our outward expression, then please share them with the world and set a new trend for what's out there. I'd love to hear something new :)
There are oooolllldddd songs from the 70s and 80s where there is scripture put to music.

My only point was that if you have an issue with the music being used then either find or make some new songs. I personally love ALL the music my Church uses, hymns and contemporary stuff. I feel that it's all about where your relationship with God is. It shouldn't matter if the song repeats a word or phrase if the message is helping you reach a moment of "oneness" with Christ.

When I sing praise music I get so into it that I feel like I am no longer just standing in my Church, I feel like I am on sort of a spiritual high and my heart feels on fire singing the words to Him. But I could just be weird on that aspect. Who knows.

Sounds like you enjoy all kinds of Christian music from traditional hymns to Christian hard rock.

See now that's what I'm talking about :) I love hearing something new, even if its a cover, there is something so cool and glorifying about putting YOU in the music to show God your unique and tailor made love and glory to Him :) Beautiful!

Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome.

No covers there, it is all original music.

I know. I just meant in general to give anyone an idea if they wanted to make something "new" but wasn't much of a writer (like myself)

... churches everywhere now seem to believe that God is really, really, really, really, really hard of hearing.
My wife, my mother and I went to a service a while ago and the band was so loud and went on so long that my wife went out with a headache and my mother found it hard to concentrate on the preaching...

Did you listed straight thru the entire album?

I think Youtube messed up the order. (or CD Baby did when they posted those files)

If one is seeking a high or experience, modern songs in church will do it. If one wants to please God, that is, worship Him, then one will have to give up most of them as the “worship” involved is adoration of the self feelings. To God it matters what one says.

So you are saying there are NO modern songs that can connect people with God?

I don't think about myself when I worship, and we do old and new songs. I feel my closest connection to God during Worship. It's all about where your heart and mind are. If you believe what you are singing is for God, even if it repeats a word or two, then it is.

Didn’t say that as I don’t know them all. But if a person doesn’t see how narcissistic a song is, they won’t know the difference. Sometimes parts of a song are good and parts aweful.
I don't think about myself when I worship, and we do old and new songs. I feel my closest connection to God during Worship.
How we feel is not the goal in worship of God. Oh and Hindus have the concept of “one with God.” They feel love and peace and etc when they’re chanting. Christians are never one with God. We are too unalike.

It's all about where your heart and mind are.
If your mind and heart are full of singing about you and your feelings and what you got out of God, it’s not worship of God. It’s worship of feelings and the self.
If you believe what you are singing is for God, even if it repeats a word or two, then it is.
If God doesn’t think so, it’s not. Some songs Christians sing are deeply insulting to the character of God.

If a woman made her family a dinner of old dry bread and brackish water, they won’t agree that if she thought she was making something nice for them then it is nice for them.

If offspring stood up at an event to praise their retiring father and talked solely about all the things he bought them and how they felt being with him and how he thought only of them all the time, I doubt he would leave feeling loved or honored. The audience would see them as very selfish and narcissistic offspring, rightly so. That’s often modern “worship” today.

Well, I would blame those who made the cacophony more than I would blame you.

The Lord Jesus spoke of worship 'in spirit and in truth'. All that loud noise is not conducive.
