I was responding to this statement. Put your trust in God for good health, not your own understanding of what is healthy and your efforts.
So do YOU think Big Macs, candy and soda are bad only according to my understanding, and do you think they are going to lead to the best service for the Father?

Here are some of the gawd awful products that can be found in food at McDonalds:

P.S. This excerpt comes from the website thetruthabout cancer:

Although the ingredients listed for the Big Mac come in at a perfect seven, the reality is there are a great deal more they fail to mention. In fact, that list of Big Mac ingredients contains a minimum of 91 ingredients consisting of sugars, fats, salts, chemicals, dairy, wheat gluten, soy, and lots of GMOs(genetically modified organisms). Some of these chemicals include artificial food colors and spices which means MSGs (Monosodium glutamate) and very likely those dyes that put one at high risk for autism and cancer (yellow 5 and 6 and red 40).

When filled with the spirit, you can drink poison and not be affected......so why should we now start fearing Big Macs and Potatoes chips?
Oh great Raymond. Why don't you prove that you, presumed to be filled with the Holy Spirit, can eat and drink all the Big Macs, candy, potato chips, and drink all the sodas you want, and still be real healthy? You could do a documentary of that! Really, I think you should do that. Now have people monitoring your food intake, getting your blood results daily, monitoring your weight and so on, of course.

Someone already did an experiment like that. He ate at Mc Donalds every day and got fat and sick. However, he probably wasn't filled with the Holy Spirit, like you Raymond. So, again, why not do a documentary and show Big Macs are okay for you?

Advising me to embark on an endeavor you believe would kill me? I like it. But I wouldnt be a good candidate for your "see if you dont die" challenge. I have always had issues keeping on weight and believed since i was a child that it was not possible for me to gain no matter what i ate....and this has been my reality. I use to try and eat more and eat junk....but i gave up on trying to gain and became happy with the way I am.......it doesnt help that I play sports a lot either. So I eat what I want when I want without fear.

Now, I began to wonder years ago, if I stayed thin because of my belief that I couldnt gain weight no matter what I ate......Maybe it is your belief about food that have you fearing big macs and running from fries. unlike your wishes for me....I would like you to live....so I would advise you to continue to run from ice cream and cake because what a man thinketh so it he..... but I would advise against preaching your fears on others.....allow those whom the son set free, to remain free.

Oh, so you think that eating Big Macs etc. all the time would kill you? But yet you say I am preaching my fears to others? No, no Raymond, I asked you to do the experiment to prove that it wouldn't bother YOU,to show YOU didn't have any fear, since you earlier seemed to feel that it could be eaten, like poison, and not bother the truly Spirit filled.

Well, I can see you aren't going to do the experiment, since, as you show, you don't want to die. Smart.

Before I started eating I felt guilty that I already had other snacks sitting around the house. It made me think about the people that don’t have the money to buy anything. ?

do you think you felt guilt for not appreciating or being always thankful for what you do have?

That's a definite way to give yourself a headache. I mean, after all, why should I eat anything at all when there are people without food? Why does my life matter more than theirs? See, it's easy to start falling down a large hill that does nothing but put you into a place of despair and mentally torturing yourself--and over nothing.

Scripture in calling us to a life of sacrifice and love toward others is not calling us to torture ourselves. So, no, there's nothing wrong with buying yourself a snack.

No, you believe it would kill me because of your statements against it. you aim to prove me wrong by the sickness or death which you believe to be the outcome of your suggested experiment. But nothing you say or wish against me can make me wish anything other than health and prosperity for you.

I just had a burger today. I prefer Whoppers....the big macs arent as big as they use to be so i find them to be a waste of money. from experience, I get tired of certain things after a few weeks...so I dont think I would be able to last your whole experiment......would need to switch to chinese food then maybe bacon cheese burgers from a different outlet......you know....switch it up a bit. The only constant would be soda...I have to have a can or two a day.....favorite drink since a young lad.

I see no fault in you hiding from Twinkies and running from the ginger bread man. Please try and find it in your heart to be ok if I trust in God for my health and not my eating habits... When I live to be 190, I will say that it was all because of the Lord and no works of my own.

If it puts enmity between you and the Lord, it is bad. However, it is not earth shattering, damnation only, get your ugly self to hell and don't look back bad. Jesus took the punishment for our sins and for that reason we have the blessings of forgiveness and salvation eternally. Don't let it take away your joy from being saved. It is a learning moment and you will eventually get to a point where you think before you act and you will ask, is this going to cause me to feel bad so that I can't express joy in my decision. IF so, then is it worth it? And you will find yourself asking those questions before you do them. Gluttony is bad. Lusting after something be it another person or a food or a thing is bad. Partaking of that which stands between you and the Lord, that is the bad part. God Bless you for asking.

"Don't worry about the poor"? That is the opposite attitude that the Bible recommends. In fact we are told that those who give to poor "Lend to the Lord."

I don't think God wants us to worry about the poor. We have enough to worry about. I give to many in need, but I don't 'worry' about any of them.

Don't worry about the poor who are on food stamps and a dozen other free food programs in America. They are overfed with the wrong kinds of food.

You don't know that every last person who is poor is spending food money on snacks. But if that is the case, great, give healthy food to Christian food kitchens and such! The children, particularly, need milk products. You could donate cheese items for them. That's what I felt led to do.

Food pantries are loaded with cheese bought by the government and given out free. The poor are choking on it. The poor should be educated in proper nutrition. This would lower their medical costs as well.

It is good to be discerning and give wisely. For example once I was approached by a man on the street who said he needed money to buy milk for his baby. I said I would go to a grocery store near by, get some Enfamil and be right back. Not to my surprise, he wasn't there when i got back.

However, wise giving is smart.

I once took a guy to a diner when he asked for money for food. He almost choked the burger I bought for him. Then I gave him $2 and told him to have a drink on me.

Proverbs 21:13 Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.

I agree.

I would have said, trust in God, through the Spirit, to reveal the knowledge of health, as the bible is pretty short on such instructions.

I do not think this is off topic for this thread, because it addresses the original poster's concern, but I've said enough. I never said that what someone eats didn't affect their health. The point is, believing and acting on what God said is what brings good health. What one eats may or may not be helpful to his health. I do not see a reference to a dietary plan in the following verses. Why would you not trust God for good health?

Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, (Exodus 23:25, 1984 NIV)

Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 5:16, 1984 NIV)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. (Proverbs 3:5-8, 1984 NIV)

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24, 1984 NIV)

Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin. ... My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. ... My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. (Psalms 38:7, 1984 NIV) (Psalms 38:3, 5, 7 1984 NIV)

Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. ... For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. (1 Corinthians 11:27, 29-30, 1984 NIV)

My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body. (Proverbs 4:20-22, 1984 NIV)

Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today. If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the LORD your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your forefathers. He will ... ... none of your men or women will be childless, nor any of your livestock without young. The LORD will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you. (Deuteronomy 7:11-15, 1984 NIV)

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. (Isaiah 58:6-8, 1984 NIV)

and a few verses later:

“And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. (Isaiah 58:11, 1995 NASB)

But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD, ‘because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.’ (Jeremiah 30:17, 1984 NIV)

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” (Mark 5:34, 1984 NIV)

Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
(James 5:14-16, 1984 NIV)

The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’’”
(Matthew 4:3-4, 1984 NIV)

There are many more passages than just these.

But all the examples you gave from the old covenant are no longer in force as the old covenant is no longer in force. Regarding new covenant 'faith' healing there is yet another family being prosecuted for relying on faith for healing, which has resulting in the unnecessary death of a child.

Do you think the promise that believers "will not be hurt by deadly things" is in force today?

Yes, God's Promise of health to all those who obeyed TORAH. And His warnings of what would happen if they disobeyed. As He said, so it happened, always.
Actually, Scripture says that if you serve the Father your body will be healthy.
