Wrong. Blacks began voting Democrat in the 1930s during the Great Depression, and the reason the blacks started voting for the Democratic Party knowing full well it was the Party of the KKK and Jim Crow laws and segregation, was due to the "New Deal" proposed by FDR. This welfare system was very much needed during the Great Depression. Most Americans had it bad, but the blacks had it worse, so they saw FDR's New Deal proposal as appealing. However, don't think that the New Deal was helping the blacks, as there was a much more nefarious agenda behind it, which I won't get into at this time.I'm not sure that's true - there was a DECISIVE swing towards the Democrats in both African American party affiliation and African American voting through the 1950s and into the early to mid 1960s. Prior to this, African Americans had favoured the Democrats, but not decisively so.
However, when you look at the reasons WHY African Americans stay the vote for Democrats over Republicans, generally its two reasons - they are more accepting of large Federal (as opposed to state) government, which Democrats generally support, and they perceive a high degree of racial intolerance in the Republican party.
If you want me to point to specifics you may have to wait till tomorrow as I don't really have time to bring up stats and facts. Or if you are not too lazy, Google is your friend. What statistics would those be then?
