I don't see it that way. France is also a Multiracial country and most of the immigrants were from the former French overseas colonies. Plus all the players were born in France and are not immigrants.

I did actually look them up, there were only two players in the squad who were not born in France - Steve Mandanda (reserve goalkeeper) was born in Zaire (a former Belgian colony) and emigrated at the age of two, and Samuel Umtiti (centre back, scored against Belgium) was born in Camaroon and also emigrated at age two.

Not to mention that it's an actual GAME.

A GAME.

How can a game be more "real and authentic" than how people vote for, say, the Leader of the Free World?

Am I awake?

Aside from the whole "Leader of the Free World" bit, a football match is a pretty good example of a meritocracy - the best team on the day wins. If US Politics is a meritocracy then I fear for the species.

Thank you for that. Even so, they are French citizens.

I don't think they're calling the players immigrants, rather they are a product of immigration. For instance, my parents were. It born in the US, but the immigrated here many years ago and I was born here. My success and contribution to the country could not have occurred if the white nationalism that currently affects the right-wing was allowed to dictate immigration policy. Likewise, you couldn't have the championship French team you had today if political parties like that of Mare Le Pen the show.

The players are thoroughly French, but as you saw in the video, the music and culture in your background is still influential (and enhances the society when it is allowed to melt and merge with French culture, everyone benefits).

I was kinda split who I support. I like both countries -I just love the french culture but I also love the beauty of Croatia - the water is so so clear there. Not exactly robust criteria for supporting a soccer team I realise.

I agree, its nice to see people rise to great success after overcoming significant hardships.
