Yesterday before the people came to take her body, everyone gathered around her with hands held, and prayed together. They were all sobbing, and my daughter told me that she will never forget how my dad prayed so loudly, crying simultaneously.

...My dad lost his wife of over 50 years. She was only 67. He will need strength.

Father, comfort the grieving. May they sense Your presence and empathy. May they find even more in You than this, You who have no pleasure in death (Ezekiel 18:32), and find precious the death of Your saints (Psalms 116:15). Lord, Jesus, we read of Your concern, and Your ministering to those grieving at the death of such families of Lazarus, and of the widow of Nain. We know that You still care for us when we deal with death and grief as well. Thank You for being there to support us in these times, and to strengthen us to carry on. Amen.

I am so very sorry for your family's loss. Losing a mother is such a difficult thing and losing a wife of 50 years is devastating. We pray, Father, that your love comforts all in their grief, that You will meet them in their needs and provide a peace that surpasses understanding. It is so difficult for us to lose our loved ones, and we know that you grieve also with us in this physical loss, but Father, we pray for joy to fill their souls in the knowing that her pain has ended and her faith is made sight and her hope is realized in seeing you face to face, as we know that you are alive. Thank you, Lord, for your promise and for your protection. Thank you for your overwhelming, never ending, reckless love for us all. Amen!

Father of Love, Prince of Peace, God of Abraham, please send comfort and peace for this family. This aspect of life is something we struggle to comprehend and see past.
