Lol, I just watched Kitty's video. My goodness, the Democratic party is just going to fall apart if political illiterates who probably vote infrequently (if at all), walk away.

If Miss Kitty was actually knowledgeable about the party to which they supposedly belonged- I would have expected to hear about specific party platform planks and policies that the Democrats espouse- not sound bites like "open borders" and bathrooms.

As I said before, I'm not a Dem - I don't see the Democrat/Republican dance as our nation's future. That said, #Walkaway means nothing if it isn't mainly actual registered and consistently voting Democrats. Otherwise, I'm hearing people talk who can't really walk away, because they were never committed and never consistently voted. The Dems are "losing" numbers they never had, wow.

Side note: his last straw was some Latino "friends" calling his husband a racial slur? Yeah, that tracks (insert eyeroll) - that is why you leave a political party - you have bad taste in friends...

Politics is downstream of culture. Conservative already have the House, Senate, Presidency and Supreme Court--and almost all the state gov't--WITHOUT the culture. If we start winning the culture, and look around, this is what is looks like, then wow. This is all over for Leftists for a long, long time.

FWIW I don't think #WalkAway is a movement that means conservatives are actually winning the culture in major ways. I think it means Leftism has so poisoned the culture that people can't stand it. They just can't identify as liberals anymore. That's all we need to win elections for now.

Walk away is a real movement, I've been seeing so many liberal friends posting it on Facebook. It's crazy when you see the comments from their friends trying to tell them not to. I've also witnessed people unfriending their walkaway friends. #walkaway

Thank you--we've been trying to tell them this. Sure, any active hashtag on Twitter will attract some bots and trolls. But it's not mostly bots and trolls, not by a longshot.

I've seen lots of stories, and lots of what you say--people being called awful names for leaving liberalism. I'm not surprised. I understand liberalism quite, quite well because I used to be a liberal secular feminist pro-choicer, once upon a time, decades ago.

Once you see what you see, you just don't unsee it. It's a little like the scales dropping off your eyes.

Hardly, again- I hardly care what people who were never really liberal or Democrat, outside of a coffee conversation- claim to do.

Most of them are policy illiterates going on "feelings". When the committed leave in droves, let me know.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you are talking about. He stated that some of the Nazis and KKK were "very fine people".

Then you will need to acknowledge that he, in the same statement, said the same about some Antifa members too.

I have to strongly disagree with this. It suggests Trump recognizes who is an important part of his base, and as he always does, reward utter loyalty, in this case with a public statement of support.

Sounds like every contemporary President to date.

No, I most certainly do not. Steve Bannon is part of the alt-right. You know, the chappy who ran his campaign.

So Trump is just guilty of racism by association then?

His whole campaign was based on low level racism, attacking Latinos and Muslims, at one point bringing back memories of another time by suggesting that Muslims be put on a registry. Does that ring any bells? Trump led the racist birther movement. And are you sincerely suggesting that this wasn't enough to convince you? If it wasn't, I do not believe there is anything Trump can say or do that will, there will to be some sort of excuse for his behaviour, no matter how disgusting, exactly like we have seen on an almost daily basis since he began his campaign.

While I think you comments are grossly overgeneralized, you're entitled to your opinion. I see nothing will change your mind on the matter.

Here's how I know this isn't a real movement: No celebrities are endorsing it or following along.

If it was truly becoming that unpopular to remain a Democrat then the people whose entire existence depends on popularity would be the first to leave.

The majority of the entertainment industry are leftists. It'd be career ending to support this movement at the current moment. Give it two weeks and see if your statement still holds true.

I've seen at least 3 or 4 FB friends do this, so I suspect it's much worse because the most vocal usually have an undercurrent of people that may not be as loud.

I walked away from the left. It stopped agreeing with a lot of things that I liked about it. Diversity of opinion, equality, respect for civil liberties and basic freedoms, intellectual arguments instead of emotional ones, science and facts...I could go on.

They used to beat you with sound reasoning and good arguments...now they just try to beat you or ruin your life. They think they can fight bigotry with bigotry, racism with racism, sexism with sexism...and so on. They used to make the right look stupid...now they validate them.

I suppose the liberalism of my youth was always doomed. It counted on people being smart...now it appeals to the dumb, which is a much easier group to manipulate. Why make rational arguments when you can just keep fueling a national outrage machine? Convince people that the most important issues are related to racism, sexism, gender, etc...and you've got yourself an endless supply of drones. They'll spend their lives fighting issues that cannot be fixed.

That's not to say I've embraced the right...for the most part, they're no better than they've ever been. It's weird to see them as the ones now defending personal freedoms though.

Lol how - they are against freedom of expression when it offends them, they also go after people’s jobs, they are plenty bigoted themselves while claiming not to be. It’s hard to validate a side via a certain bad behaviour when that sad is also guilty of the same bad behaviour and then some.

And fyi, there is plenty going on the left that isn’t race/gender related.

You are being conned. And like every single shill for this tag, you curiously aren’t suggesting the right should be abandoned, even though it does everything you list here.

I’m sure there must be at least one defender of this tag who has some level of consistency? No? Anyone?

That's fair...just because I don't remember them coming out to stop liberals from speaking or protesting doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Got any examples? Cuz just in the past few years I can come up with a lot from the left.

also go after people’s jobs, they are plenty bigoted themselves while claiming not to be.

Ok...who's job did they go after?

It’s hard to validate a side via a certain bad behaviour when that sad is also guilty of the same bad behaviour and then some.

Then why support the left?

Such as?

Well Gad...you may have noticed that this thread is about the left. It would be rather hypocritical to adopt a tactic of whataboutism and try to make it about the right.

I’m sure there must be at least one defender of this tag who has some level of consistency? No? Anyone?

Yourself included.

I don't doubt there's at least a few of these that are genuine. I just don't think this "movement" is really as big as Trumpers are hoping it to be.

Indeed. Human beings do change political parties, why is that surprising and newsworthy, exactly? I see no evidence of a mass exodus of Democrats.

Wacko conservative - someone who bombs abortion clinics. But no need to Walkaway.

Wacko liberal - someone who wears a political slogan on a tshirt and hurts your feels. Gosh, why won’t people just Walkaway *smh*

That kind of "extremism" looks positively enlightened in comparison.

I've been looking at a lot of my liberal or Democratic friends and many of them are walking away, this movement is real.

If its happening, its due to a well-orchestrated FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) campaign to suppress Democrat turnout.

Because it can't possibly be that the left is making bad arguments and adopting bad positions?

Perhaps, but the alternative on the Right is much worse. They are eating moderate, reasonable conservatives like McCain alive.
