There is so much wrong with what is going on in the world, and I hate how hard it is to keep up with it all now that we have new information being thrown at us every minute.

As Christians, how can we make a real and tangible difference? Most people, myself included, will state our frustrations and give our thoughts on how things can be "fixed", but I honestly want to know, what can we do?

How can someone like me, a 24 year old mother with almost no free time, get involved and get educated on this stuff?

I am genuinely asking because this stuff is really scary... and I don't want to be part of the problem anymore.

Almost all sources are worldly, carnal, usually for profit, and wrong.

Thus, to find the truth, keep seeking and praying, and keep testing everything until you find someone who always tells the truth and does not and will not lie even to save their life, their job, or their family or their house.

You already know how prevalent the fake news and the bad news is.

Read Scripture thru and thru, and find faithful teachers if you can (it is difficult, very difficult),
and
most of all, praying always, actively always put your complete trust in and rely on the heavenly Father to accomplish everything concerning yours and your family's salvation .

Those who put their trust in the country, church, or men,
have already failed.

James 1:27 King James Bible
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Luke 10:25-37 King James Version (KJV)
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

I agree, but the sad fact is, I am still a part of this country and need to do my part. I don't trust the government or man, but as a cog in his machine, I need to know what I can do to help in any way.

How can we start a wave???? JUMP IN!!
I mean start up a ministry or at least get on board and support one that is doing the great commission.
This is the best way :]

lol yes but do you have any specific suggestions? I am involved in my Church and we are starting a bunch of outreach ministries, but what can I do as an individual to be better educated and involved. There are so many different sources and I don't know which ones to trust. :/

You are not supposed to be IN CHRIST, AND "a cog in his machine"(worldly, carnal, enemy of Christ).

What you can do to help in any way ? Nothing. No one was allowed to, nor able to , fix the "machine" (man's worldly government).

Even Jesus did not even to try to do that. Neither should we.

Pray for "that we all could live at peace" as Yahweh is able to bring about Himself, to accomplish His Way.

Don't disobey Him trying to fix what cannot be fixed by anyone,
(also according to prophecy, it will only get worse, and is getting worse every day; it does not get better until Jesus Returns to rule)

I would ask, Do you enjoy people? How about a Nursing Home Ministry, "Perhaps a bible study 1 hour a week"
We have these little elderly people in these homes that have been abandoned and are so lonely. They are often overlooked by area churches and are a ripe field for the harvest. They are so anxious to hear the bible and make a friend :]

Your question is true. But God will equip you in his word and by his revelation. Not all of the revelation of Yahshua has been revealed yet, and in time this will happen. What is important is that you hunker down and firmly ground yourself in the truth. When God sends out the weapons of his ministry then you will be ready to wield them. But you only have to wait. Soon God will bring this about. But we must show ourselves faithful stewards of what we have already attained in Christ.

When man tried to 'fix' education, it got much worse, and continues to keep getting worse.

When man tried to 'fix' poverty, it got much worse, much much worse, and continues to.

When man tried to 'fix' medicine (even just the ungodly profitmongers) , it only got worse - worse rules, worse oppression, worse deception, worse illness....

When man tried to 'fix' (or 'keep'?) religion, it only causes more oppression and deception.

There is nothing about government man is able to fix.

Instead, DO as Jesus says: don't raise money and have fund raisers to have a big bash/ music ministry/ revival/ go to other countries.... no....
Go to the poor and homeless and destitute right in your own neighborhood and talk with them, and tell them what Yahweh has done for you, and give them what Yahweh has given you for their needs - food, clothes, shelter, words of truth - healing - comfort - peace - joy ....

So we are called to sit back and just watch the madness unfold and not say a word or do anything?

That can't be what Christ is calling us to do in regards to the government. We are to live and respect the rules, but we live in a country where a vote could really mean something if people would truly educate themselves and make smart and right decisions. That is what I am talking about.

That's a really neat idea :) I agree that the elderly are the most forgotten and tossed aside. Thank you! I will look into that. But do you have any advice as far as citizen involvement?

Good question, Karin. I think a lot of us as fellow Christians with you have been pondering the same things. We'd all like to see our country and our local communities become safer, more reasonable, and more Christian places in which to live.

How can someone like me, a 24 year old mother with almost no free time, get involved and get educated on this stuff?
Well, first and foremost you can continue to do those primary things that you already are doing for your family, for yourself, and for the Lord, such as loving and caring for your children, loving your husband, praying and reading the Word.

I am genuinely asking because this stuff is really scary... and I don't want to be part of the problem anymore.
Yes, it can be scary, but what in your heart do you feel like you'd want to do for the Lord, Karin?

Learn from Yahweh, and in line with His Word ALWAYS, what to do.

It is not anything like mankind's way of doing things, ever.

Heal people, instead of contributing to their sickness and the oppression of them.

Help people, instead of contributing the the deception of the rulers over them.

Do as Jesus the GOOD SHEPHERD leads - follow His Voice,

NOT the voice of another.

Yes, it can be scary, but what in your heart do you feel like you'd want to do for the Lord, Karin?

I don't know. I just can't help but think of the way the world is now and the direction it is currently going because we keep choosing to just say "well that's just how things are" when we completely have the power to stop this all with our vote. I think about the world my daughter will grow up in, and it hurts and scares me to my core.

There is no reason to hate someone else when you have never had one conversation with them, but we are caging up children and tearing families apart because they came from the southern border as opposed to the northern?

The world was created without borders and we were created to serve and protect the land TOGETHER. What we are doing now is not that at all.

But I don't know what I could do to change something that has been broken for thousands of years. How do you make the 56% of American voters that did NOT vote care again?

You really don't know, do you?

It will not be 'fixed' by your vote nor anyone else's vote, even if all the true Christians in the world got out and voted.

Go to the root, way back when, whenever someone taught you to trust that way as a possible way to accomplish God's Will and Purpose.
Get that root out, prayerfully, and with great rejoicing as Yahweh (God) Permits and as He accomplishes.

Get to the True Source of Power and Overcoming for our Lives - Jesus Christ Lord Savior Messiah King of the Jews Mighty One !

And learn from Him the true and right way , trusting and relying on the Father in heaven, never on the flesh nor man's way....

I agree. So it sounds like you not only would like for our country to be reformed, but you'd also like to reach out in beneficence to our Southern neighbors in some capacity. Those are admirable goals, and I think you'll find that the Scriptures back up both of these longings that God has obviously laid on your heart.

But I don't know what I could do to change something that has been broken for thousands of years. How do you make the 56% of American voters that did NOT vote care again?
Well, that's a difficult one to answer, particularly, as you already know, if taking into account everything that the Bible tells. Each of us, with the gifts that God has given us, can do something at least.

One place to start would be, I think, to study the social directives given in the Old Testament Laws regarding foreigners, aliens, and strangers. Those are the three terms you'll find most often and there are some substantial things to find and understand there first. So, if you haven't already studied this topic, that might be one place to begin. Another would be to read some Christian books (and maybe some non-Christian books) on humanitarian aims in addressing the social political problem that is present with our neighbors coming from the South. What do you think about that for starters? One thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn't let this concern get in the way of your being a mother, a wife, and a part of your church locally.

You are all right and have good suggestions, but this is in the politics forum, and I think what the OP is getting at is being active politically, to make a change for the positive.
Romans 13:1-7, and 1 Timothy 2:1-4, both speak about this. Yes, our love and main focus belong on the Lord, but we are also to be good citizens, follow the rules, pay taxes, and pray for our leaders.
But I do not think we are supposed to sit on our hands and do nothing. I believe it is every Christians duty to vote for leaders who promote Godly principles.
Try 1 Samuel 12:13-25 on for size.
Do we not also strive to further God's kingdom by spreading the gospel? Why would it be different with voting?
I read somewhere that 1 in 5 self professed Christians are not even registered to vote, now there's something you could do, Karin, spread the word and try to get Christians to get out and vote.

But I don't know what I could do to change something that has been broken for thousands of years. How do you make the 56% of American voters that did NOT vote care again?

Do you realize that 44% of American voters, by your percentage here, caused so much sin and crime in this country ,
without the help of the other 56% ?

If the voters did occasion/ cause all the things as if they could by voting. (oppression of the poor in every state and most all cities, by laws ('approved by voting' by the 44%!? ), gave pharmakeia unbelievable power and free reign to do as they please,
got rid of mom and pop businesses and farms/ small businesses established by hard work(ers) and hopeful entrepreneurs ....
laws that prevent known for hundreds or thousands of years remedies, preventions and cures that because of this
cost taxpayers and VOTERS and citizens hundreds of thousands of dollars each in their lives, for many ....

on and on and on - the system of government, law, and education has attacked all that God's people have sought for for 2000 years.

Much of that POWER comes from letting people think they did it by voting ! (it doesn't matter if a little good slips past the wicked leaders sometimes - they deal with it before too long happens)...

--- yet much of the wickedness all around us was APPROVED BY 44% ! Adding more % won't help, no.

Rather, the country won't change by man's doing,

but if the few, "If MY people, will get down on their knees and pray, and repent of their sinful ways....

THEN I WILL HEAL THEIR LAND (God will, and can, when He chooses, when He says, at the proper time)
