John 4:5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Ya'akov had given to his son Yoseph. J4:6 Ya`akov's Well was there; so Yeshua, exhausted from his travel, sat down by the well; it was about noon.

How far did He travel to arrive at Ya'akov's well by noon? Why was it an exhausting trip?

John 4:1 Now Yeshua learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John—2 although in fact it was not Yeshua who baptized, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.

Distance from Judea to Galilee is aprox 94 miles, and an average person travels 10 miles/day. So It was a 10 day journey give or take a few hours. Wouldn't every day be a normal walk, why would 1/2 a day's walk, aka til noon, be so exhausting for Yeshua?

He was born a man , he got tired like everyone else. He was certainly a lot healthier, like most people were then, than most Americans today !

He created the universe without trouble. That was before he humbled himself so greatly to be born on earth as a man, into a sinful world where even his own people rejected him ! Such humiliation, who has ever imagined anything even remotely close to that ! ?

It was probably 6 day journey because of Sabbath you should know it as Jew that you can't travel on Sabbath , moreover he had to probably carry the water and food with him plus it's desert land with high temperatures . Then you have to prepare daily bread because this is not XXI where you can pack food in backpack and go , they stored food in grains , they did not have bottles they stored the water in waterskins made out of goat skins which had weight aswell .

Now take that and walk for 6 days in that condition , then ask yourself if you are exchausted or not .

Jesus was many times exchausted , he even slept during the thunderstorm on boat .

If you have good physical fitness, you can actually make 20 miles a day easily. People back in the days could probably do even more.

Jesus probably walked up and down a mountain or a hill. If it's a relatively steep walk then it's definitely going to be quite exhausting even for just a few hours.

Also, remember his disciples went to town to buy food to bring back to eat - they expected him to be hungry because they did not carry food with them.

They were surprised he was not hungry when they returned. He told them a secret they never knew before, and few people ever find out.

Jesus left Judea to go to Galilee, but he stopped in Samaria along the way. Samaria is south of Galilee.
Sychar may have been Shechem or close to it. The Samaritans worshiped on Mt Gerazim above Shechem and there was a well at Shechem. This was 40 miles north of Jerusalem along a road. Jesus was most likely baptizing in the Jordan River north of the Dead Sea that is east of Jerusalem. The Dead Sea is visible from Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem.

A hiker on the Appalachian Trail told me he was able to walk 30 miles a day with a full pack along level stretches of road.

It is a steep climb from the Jordan River to Samaria. A man might need water and rest after such a journey.

Other translations use "tired"... It is not doubt of the translation nor the truth of the Word. It is the concept of Yeshua being "exhausted"...
The translators made a choice in saying "exhausted". The Greek word can carry a range of meanings, and here there is no intensifier in the text. Even a casual reading shows that Jesus wasn't so exhausted that He couldn't minister to the Samaritan woman, or to her whole city soon afterward, and in fact when the disciples arrived back with food, even despite their urging He declined it. So I think overplaying Jesus' weariness here is probably unwarranted.

He certainly had cause to be weary, though. It wasn't just a matter of the distance of the journey and possible severe weather, though that would be enough. The text tells us He had been very busy with ministry and baptisms. Probably it was almost impossible for Jesus to get any rest unless He stole out early in the morning for prayer, as we often see Him doing. So sleep too was a precious commodity for Him.

Except that the hiker would not have been barefoot or have relatively flimsy sandals :)

Thinking of Yeshua is an exhausted state is interesting in that it reveals the fleshy weaknesses. Could it also be that the weariness was a cloud over Him so that He rested by the Well for the very purpose, God placed there. He was refreshed from the visit.

I remember when I was 11 and participated in a 20 mile walk for a March of Dimes walkathon. It took me all day to make the walk, but I remember how exhausting it became early on. My friend and I took frequent breaks. I don't think the text means that Yeshua was falling down from exhaustion. I think it just means he needed to stop and rest. Remember that he was probably carrying all his belongings.
