What is the Pentecostal experience. Pentecostalism or Classical Pentecostalism is a renewal movement in Christianity that places special emphasis on a direct personal experience of God through the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The term'Pentecost' is derived from Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit came to the early believers and the experience happened many times on other occasions. The Word of God says,'This promise is unto you and your children and children's children and to all that are far off,as many as the Lord God shall call'

Is this what people commonly referred to as salvation experience? Or is it something totally different we experience with the Holy Spirit? I only ask because I once attended a Pentecostal church and I had an experience where when the pastor told everyone to stand for prayer he told everybody to raise their hands and then he said something like let the light pour out and I immediately fell on the ground as if I had been under the influence of the Holy Spirit and I saw what I can only explain in words as the substance of the Holy Spirit encapsulating my mind and my imagination and then people began to lay hands on me and pray and some went into tongues and I always thought this might have been what it meant to be baptized by the Holy Spirit and with fire.

What were some of the long term changes in you after this experience? Or in other words was this a transformative event, and in what ways.

Hmm.. I'm not sure honestly. That's a good question. I don't compare this to my salvation experience, but it definitely was something... What kind of changes would you be looking for?

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is subsequent to receiving Christ as Saviour. We repent (that is turn from our sin and turn to God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We grow in grace are baptised in water and should go on to experience the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We receive power to be our Lord's witnesses and our service for Christ becomes more effective.

I don't know, unless I was baptized with fire as a private event it hasn't happened to me. I feel like there would be some changes to ones mind, intuitions, how you think and perceive etc but I really don't know what to expect.

When you say the Holy Spirit encapsulated your mind, do you mean that in the first sense, like an outside layer that is part of your mind? Like it's been wrapped?

For me it was an act of surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ. I asked Him to fill me with His Holy Spirit,'Ask and you shall receive". It did'nt happen straight away but as I received by faith I was worshipping and praising God and began to speak in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gave me utterence. My timidity began to be transformed into boldness!

I guess it was visionary. It wasn't just my mind it was like I could see it with my eyes and I could feel it. The substance oozing into my very mind and conscience until I couldn't stand or open my eyes and all I could see was the light of the Holy Ghost bursting through the darkness behind my eyelids and anointing me. I haven't ever shared this story and I stopped going to that church cuz my wife made me cuz she grew up in her church lol but I felt a newness about me a boldness and a zeal to be a witness of the Holy spirit to others..

'Wait for the promise of the Father' (Acts of the Apostles 1:4)

'And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit...'(Acts of the Apostles 2:4)

It happened again! (Acts of the Apostles 8:12-17)

And again! (Acts of the Apostles 10:44-46)

And again! (Acts of the Apostles 11:14-16)

Holy Spirit given (Acts of the Apostles 15:7-9)

So exciting and such a thrill to read these verses from the Bible....wow! and it is all so real, wonderful!
