Not at all! There are other links to address those areas. In the passage under consideration the word is "everlasting punishment" not "eternal torment". Let us stay strictly focused on the passage!

Alright. I guess I'll leave you to it. I addressed the OP, but it seems that you are looking for a very specific response and I fail to understand what it is.

God bless

Amariselle: It has been a pleasure speaking with you. If you feel comfortable with where you are dwelling in your knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord, F.L. cannot attempt a function only the Holy Ghost can accomplish. For me, however, the fact the mass of this world (99.9%), according to the fundamentalists, are lost and without hope, falls far short of the Father's intention in the Son of His love. May He fill all of us with the expanse of His dwelling place!

According to the context (and only the context) of St. Matthew chapter 25, what qualifies a "goat nation" & what qualifies a "sheep nation"?

Answers=

1. A goat nation receives "everlasting punishment" because>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>??

2. A sheep nation qualifies for "everlasting life">>>>>>>>>>>??

The sheep cared for their neighbors, the least of these, and by doing so, they unknowingly showed their love for God. Hence they humbly inquire of the son of man "when did we do these things for you?". The sheep were unknowingly pursuing righteousness.
Matthew 25:37-40 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’
**The sheep are those that did not pursue righteousness by the works of the law, but by faith.
or as Paul puts it:

Romans 9:30 What shall we say, then? That GENTILES who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith
Romans 9:23-24 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?

The goats did not care for the least of these, but still, in a self righteous manner, attested that they did. The goats pursued righteousness, but did not obtain it. Hence they ask the son of man "when did we see you and NOT MINISTER TO YOU?".

Matthew 24:44-45 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
**The goats are those that pursue righteousness by the works of the law, not by faith. Or as Paul puts it:
Romans 9:31 that ISRAEL who pursued a law that would lead to righteousnessd did not succeed in reaching that law.
Romans 9:22 if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
Romans 9:27 And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the sons of Israelc be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved,

Consider the context leading up to the parable of the sheep and the goats:
Matthew 21: parable of the wicked tenants; Vineyard owner comes to destroy israel
Matthew 22: Parable of the wedding feast; king sends army to destroy israel
Matthew 23: Woes to the scribes and Pharisees and their coming destruction
Matthew 24: Olivet discourse: events leading up to Israel's destruction.

The entire context leading up to the parable of the sheep and goats, Is Israel's judgement and the kingdom being taken away from them and given to a nation producing its fruit (the body of Christ both Jew and gentile).

My friend: You have presented the finest answer to date! Thank you for the time you have taken and an excellent viewpoint. Remnants & little flocks are a wonderful group!

The sheep and the goats or the wheat and the Tares, describe those from amongst Christ's numbers, the flock in general.

The Goats/Tares are the Man of Sin, who are those on their way to eternal destruction, because they refused to love and accept the truth that would save them. (2 Thessalonians 2:10)

Man of Sin is plural for People of Sin. Man is Anthropos in the Greek, meaning Peoples (plural). In order for them to fall away from the faith, due to the strong delusion, they had to have been the many who had the truth and were amongst Christ's flock, yet they fell away and served a lie.

These are the many who say Lord Lord on the last day and the Lord will reject them, because they became conformed to the world, by serving man, rather than upholding God's objective moral laws.

I would like to add to my previous post #66, the following.........

God does not regard serving man in general as obedience to his will. The will of the Father does not work in children of disobedience and does not feed, cloth, give shelter or visit the children of disobedience, who are wilfully breaking the Blood Covenant of his Son Jesus Christ.

What is a wilful covenant breaker?

“For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?” (Heb. 3:16).

- Hebrews 3:16–17
The warnings that the author of Hebrews gives about abandoning Christ are real warnings. The potential for apostasy and condemnation is not merely hypothetical. People really do break the covenant.

Apostle Paul dichotomises the secret power of lawlessness, and its manifestation out in the open public arena, with the falling away from the faith, owing to the strong delusion to serve a lie. This implies that this practice was present in Paul's time, though behind closed doors, since it was a hidden practice. Yet in the final days, towards the end of the harvest, at the reaping, it will manifest in plain sight, without any secrecy.

Hebrews 3:16–17 proves that people really can and really do break the covenant with God. The people with whom God was angry in the wilderness were not those who were outside the covenant, they were part of the flock of God.

They really were a part of God’s covenant, and yet they broke that covenant, and thus forsook all of the blessings that were promised in it. The book of Hebrews uses this story as a basis for warning Christians to persevere, thereby proving that the new covenant can be broken as well.

Hos 6:7-10 and Pr 2:17-22 highlights the condemnation of those who break covenants.

So God does say, let the Tares grow amongst the Wheat, yet in God's final stroke of genius, he allows the wicked servants to be swept up in the lie and to serve it, so that he can void His conditional contractual agreement with them, due to their final treasonous act, within the context of the falling away from the faith.

In my final conclusion, it comes as no surprise, that those ANTHROPOS (man/people's) OF SIN (Judas Iscariots/sons of Perdition) will boast, by saying......

Lord, Lord, did we not preach in your name and in your name HEAL/FEED/CLOTH/SHELTER the sick and in your name perform many LOVING works?'

It comes as no surprise, that they will also, use the following versus out of context, by applying them to the children of disobedience, who know not God.

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' (Matthew 25:40)

Brothers and Sisters of Christ are NOT the children of disobedience (Man of Sin), within the context of the will of God, owing to obedience to his objective moral laws, directly associated with the conditional blood covenant/contractual agreement.

Jesus will reply to these end of days religious reprobates as follows....

'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

These are the Worldly Loving Tares, who have conformed themselves to the trending ways of the world and the Sodomic and Idolatrous sins therein.

Jesus knows their hearts and he judges these devious apostates, who make the boastings of Matthew 25:40.

Come in Australia, Come in The Times: My friend that is an excellent response indeed & one the closest to the truth so far.

However

The Scriptures do indeed speak of destruction, and some translators add "eternal" to join it. Perhaps we can go the road of aionios and olam, (the old Covenant equivalent) or aidios the word describing the Aidios God in 2 passages of the N.T. One thing is clear to me (and little is clear when addressing our Glorious God), the all starts and finishes with the Source & Goal of all that is!.

"What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath–prepared/fitted for destruction." Romans 9:22

Fitted/prepared =katartivzw=

Katartivzw=

To render or to fit.

To make sound or complete.

To mend what has been broken or rent.

To repair what has been broken or rent.

To put in order.

To arrange. To adjust.

To fit or frame for one's self.

To strengthen, to perfect, to complete.

To make one what he aught to be.

Dr. Marvin Vincent

Fitted= kathrtismena=

Literally: adjusted or mended.
"ei de qelwn o qeoV endeixasqai thn orghn kai gnwrisai to dunaton autou hnegken en pollh makroqumia skeuh orghV kathrtismena eiV apwleian"

Jonathan Mitchell N.T. Translation=

::Jonathan Mitchell's New Testament Translation::

22. "Now since (if) God -- habitually willing to display and demonstrate inherent fervor, natural impulse, propensity and disposition (or: passion, anger, wrath and indignation) and to make known by personal experience His power and ability -- in much long-suffering (long-breathing; forbearance) bears and carries containers (vessels; instruments; utensils) of natural impulse (of passionate disposition; of inherent fervor; of anger; of wrath; of indignation), being ones having been thoroughly prepared and made adequate for loss (adapted into ruin, waste and destruction), and remaining thus,

23. even to the end that He may make known by intimate experience the riches (wealth) of His glory (His manifestation of that which calls forth praise; His reputation; His opinion) upon containers of mercy (instruments of mercy), which He beforehand prepared (made ready and provides) into glory

24. -- even us, whom He calls (called), not only from out of the Jews, but further, even from out of the nations (or: out of the multitudes also; forth from the Gentiles, too)."
