PS: Heavenhome:Thank you, I am off to God's word
PS: Hope you had a good Bible study; so did you happen to read Malachi recently? I do think that 3.16 is a great and relevant encouragement to believers to seek out and enjoy fellowship as pilgrims on the heavenly journey!Thank you, I am off to God's word
Our church priests iof the NC in spirit, unlike the OC priest of the fleshLook at verse 1:
Malachi 2:1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.
To whom is the prophet Malachi speaking here? The entire chapter is directed to the Levitical priests (not the Church) and they were being reproved for their impiety. How do you apply this to the Church today?
Here's a great verse from this short prophecy:
"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another; and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD and that thought upon His name."
How searching and relevant!
We in the New Testament era should value fellowship in wholesome, Godly fear.
Blessings.
Thanks for the link! The great preacher, Carter Conlon (he took over at Times Square Church after the death of David Wilkerson) gives one of the most powerful renderings of that passage that I have ever heard, in this YouTube video entitled "Wake up Church". The video is a compilation of cuts from various sermons given by five great preachers: David Wilkerson, Keith Daniel, Carter Conlon, a young Jim Cymbala and the incomparable Leonard Ravenhill. Here's the link to the video--it is well worth the 10 minutes it takes to get through it.
I would say, "Enjoy" but it will make you weep.
@LadyCrosstalk : I think Malachi is a tremendously relevant book about the faithful remnant responding to times of apostasy. Malachi 3.16 seems to be a key.
Amen, The Lord knows those that fear Him, and His ears are open to them. Here's a great verse from this short prophecy:

Although Malachi isn't about the church at all - but about the remnant of Israel in the Old Testament - it is such a relevant little Old Testament prophecy by which believers can encourage themselves. 3.16 is very applicable today.Thank you!
