• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

If I´m suppoused to endure whatever "God" is sending me then what do people think in comitting suicide?
Ironic when you say that He doesnt send you something you cant bear, then, why my suicidal attempts?

Why Jesus doesnt carry the loads I feel inside? Why is using my suicidal attempts "to make me stronger"? Is that right?
You see why the world has a hard time in believing your message?

DOnt you think an evil spirit or something wants my death instead? Is right to think that God is using my suicidal attempts for His godly purposes?

Stop it Jesus!

You are HURTING ME!

People, I feel A LOT OF PAIN IN MY CHEST, IN MY SOUL , DEEP DOWN INSIDE OF ME. Just like king Joshafat , when he was surrounded by enemies. But God didnt leave him alone, The war was His.

My troubles are His?
There´s too much struggle.

I just cant continue.

There´s too much weight.

My boyfriend is going through similar feelings, and the best I can say is "Hang in there" I know that's generic and not helpful; but things can and will get better!

Maybe you should seek psychological help? Just a thought! It's helped Ryan tons!

 bad stuff doesn't come from God, every good & perfect gift comes from Him, cause He's good and perfect :). Well I'm not sure about God 'letting certain stuff happen'.
He totally doesn't want you to think about killing yourself, to loose hope.
He loves you and has so much hope for you, reach out for Him, cry out to Him when bad thoughts come don't give up even when it seems like you'd be waiting forever  it's sometimes hard to Fully Rely On God but He's completely worthy of your trust.

The psalms are full of awesome promises especially to desperate people. like psalm 34 (esp. verse 5-11 and 23) psalm 37/ 5-7, 18-19, psalm 62 (2,3,9), Jesaja 41/esp. 27 onward is cool :), psalm 139, 118 the list goes on !
I was actually searching for these cool verses saying God is close to the desperated and um saves all who have lost all hope.. something like uh God doesn't keep all bad stuff away from the ppl who trust Him but helps them/is with them something like that but not sure where that was !!

I just remembered this one (no thats not from the bible ;))
Don't tell God how big the storm is (sure cry out to Him but ya know), tell the storm how big God is !! =)

God Bless you sista don't give up

oh if you can use some more encouragement

there you go

God has positive answers for all the negative things we have to say to
ourselves.
You say: "It's impossible"
God says: All things are possible (Luke 18:27) You say: "I'm too tired"
God says: I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30) You say: "Nobody
really loves me"
God says: I love you (John 3:16 & John 13:34) You say: "I can't go on"
God says: My grace is sufficient (II Corinthians 12:9 & Psalm 91:15) You
say: "I can't figure things out" God says: I will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6) You say: "I can't do
it" God says: You can do all things (Philippians 4:13) You say: "I'm not able"
God says: I am able (II Corinthians 9:8) You say: "It's not worth it"
God says: It will be worth it (Roman 8:28) You say: "I can't forgive myself"
God says: I FORGIVE YOU (I John 1:9 & Romans 8:1) You say: "I can't manage"
God says: I will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19) You say: "I'm afraid"
God says: I have not given you a spirit of fear (II Timothy 1:7) You say: "I'm always worried and frustrated" God says: Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter 5:7) You say: "I don't have enough faith"
God says: I've given everyone a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) You say: "I'm not smart enough" God says: I give you wisdom (I Corinthians1:30) You say: "I feel all
alone" God says: I will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)
Remember we have a savior{ Jesus } who is the rock of our salvation.
When satan comes knocking at your door, just say,
"Jesus, will you get that for me."

 Brenda,

I've been thinking about you a lot today and it occurred to me that you may need to examine more closely the reasons why you are thinking about suicide. I know that on another thread you outlined some of the problems you were having and I was wondering whether you would be prepared to let all of us help you work your way through them. Sometimes when there are a lot of problem areas in a persons life, it seems that it's all tangled up and you just can't see a way through it all. If you share with us what's hurting you so much, perhaps we can guide you, make suggestions, give advice etc.

I'm not saying that any of us can offer you financial or physical assistance, but we can help to ease your load maybe, in your time of trouble by offering you our support. Sometimes when we feel confused, it's all we can do to get ourselves through just one more day. Most of us have been where you are at one time or another and I'm sure i'm not alone in wanting to help you through this time.

Now Brenda, I'm going to ask you something that you might not like - Are you really listening to the Lord ?. I only ask this because I know that in my times of desparation all I could hear was my own tormented voice. I expected a sign, something revolutionary, Ididn't appreciate that the Lord was quietly and patiently waiting for me to listen to him and heed his guidance. Allow yourself to listen, allow yourself to feel the love that he want's to give you right now.

I know it's hard Brenda, God knows how hard you are trying to get through this difficult time in your life. But the worst thing you could do right now is to turn your back on God, and end your life. Do you really want that to be the last thing you ever do ? Can you imagine how much He loves you?,Can you imagine the pain it would cause Him to see you bring an end to your short life in such a terrible and lonely way.

Brenda, I have some more scriptures I want you to read, but before that I want you to think about something for me.

Would you kill someone you love ? A family member or friend ?Would you kill the kid across the street or the owner of the local store ? No, I didn't think so. Think about this then Brenda, why are you thinking about killing yourself when it wouldn't even enter your head to kill someone else ? Suicide is murder against yourself just as surely as murder is the killing of someone other than yourself. Do you want to be a murderer ? Really ?

It seem's to me that the real reason that you want to end your life is because you don't think that you are worth much to either God or man. It seem's to me that you are feeling unloved, alone and misunderstood. I may be wrong, but it seem's to me that some of us at CF and also in the wider world, have stood in your shoes before you, and we survived to tell the tale so there IS hope.

Brenda, there is a way through this but will you give yourself the chance to work things out ? Aren't you worth it ? You may not think that you deserve to give yourself another chance, but your wrong. Jesus doesn't give up on us when the going get's tough and we shouldn't give up without giving Him the opportunity to help us out of our turmoil.

Now the scriptures:

Firstly I want to tell you that there are three specific references to suicide in the Bible : Saul - 1Sam 31:4, Ahithopel - 2Sam 17:23 and Judas - Matt 27:5. All of those who did commit suicide were sinful or evil or both. That isn't to say that everyone who commits suicide is evil though. They are distanced from God. Many are the reasons why but it's usually got something to do with an inability to endure the intense distress that they are suffering and a failure to see themselves enjoying a better life. They may genuinely believe that death is the only way out of their torment and pain, but this is not God's will.

The way you view suicide is dependant upon whether you think yourself saved or not, at least to some extent. Do you believe that your salvation is eternally secure ? ie:

John 13:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life".

Also, 1John 5:13 " I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may have everlasting life".

And Romans 8 :38-39 "For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord".

Do these scriptures allow you to take your own life - No, they do not. For while God is a God of love and will perhaps not allow a suicide to ruin the chances of salvation, you would still be committing a grave sin against God. Brenda, one day you and I will stand before the Lord and we will be held accountable for our actions, thoughts, feelings and deeds. Do you really want suicide to be amongst the other sin's on your sin list ? I know I don't.

Take care

Brenda, God does not send your pain and trouble, your suffering is part of your situation but if you let Him He will help you through it, He is there for you. He cannot help if you turn away from Him because that's what committing suicide is. No matter how bad you feel, how desperate, you are committing murder.
I have stood in your shoes, not for the same reasons but I wanted desperately to kill myself because the pain I felt inside was so intense I just couldn't stand it anymore.

I had to deal with my pain over a period of time, alot of it from my past and some my present it wasn't easy but praise God it was worth it. Sometimes just talking about things over and over helps, sometimes someone will say something that really helps.

Brenda, you can turn to people on CFs, see how many of them love you and want to help. OK so we may say the wrong thing sometimes and it may make you angry but getting rid of the anger is part of the healing process.

You are God's precious daughter He loves you so much, lean on Him and draw strength from Him.
Love Laura

I think that God does use trials to test our faithfulness to Him. He wants us to depend upon Him, since He created us. Sometimes it seems that God needs to feel needed, like a parent desires to be an important part of their child's life. We are forever indebted to the Lord, even just by being alive, and I believe that He doesn't want to be forgotten.

I wrote an essay recently about suicide. It's not my favorite piece of work, but it's something to check out. You can see it here: http://www.mindsleuth.com/you-are-important.html

Please be patient, Brenda. I will pray for you as I have been praying for myself. I know that there are things that are just not endurable. I have constantly struggled not to kill myself and I am still struggling. I know I am not ok, and there is no one to help me.
I only know that you can only wait. Wait to be able to see his mighty power and his love. And the good things he will give you.

Rather than thinking "God doesn't give us more than we can handle" Think, "There is nothing I can't handle with God's help" Maybe you just need to trust in him and let him help you through your problems. My sister tried to commit suicide earlier this year. She wouldn't let anyone help her with her pain, not me, not the rest of our family, not psychologists, and most importantly, not God

I have asked this question many times (I have made somewhere in the region of 17 attempts on my life) and I think the answer are that there are no easy answers!! Sorry but it's true.

Remember this, you are being attacked through thsi illness by Satan, so he must have something special that he wants you not to do!! God is going to use you to do somethign amazing one day. Also remember that whatever you suffer God suffers also, he feels every single bit of pain that you feel only 100 times worse!!

Thank of it like this - when you've come to the end of your rope tie a knot and it will be easier to hang on!!

God loves you

Jay
