...i found my book, "The Joy of Fearing God" by Jerry Bridges.

On the cover is Proverbs 14:27 "The fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain."

How delightful is THAT??!!!

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Proverbs 15:16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Proverbs 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
Proverbs 23:17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

The fear of the LORD is a wonderful thing.
The fear of the LORD is not being afraid of Him as some would have you believe.

Thank you for this space. I have got to extricate myself from negativity and toxicity. It's too despairing and sad and heartbreaking AND distracting. There is nothing to fear, after all, because God won't allow our country to be swallowed up in a tsunami of horror and hatred if He doesn't see fit too. And just like Sodom and Gomorrah, He will not allow it if there are 10 of His own in the land. And surely there are more than even 10, just with us here on this thread, right? Along with some others i know, including family. i just must trust Him and tune out the constant wave after wave of senseless hatred and tearing down that is so prevalent.

Who was the weeping prophet? Was it Nehemiah that wept for his country as he watched the destruction all around? It feels like that sometimes.

Yet, there is STILL God. And He CAN be trusted. He still IS in control, isn't He?

I'll meditate on this delightful verse right now and today. God bless us, ev'ry one :groupray:

Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, [j]factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

According to Paul, if we belong to a faction or are involved in dissension or disputes, we wont inherit the Kingdom.

Amen. It seems that sometimes, this is ev'ry where.

I'd rather watch the light ning bugs. I saw the first ones last night. They're like twinkly ballet dancers.

Jeremiah was the weeping Prophet
Proverbs 10:28 is an absolutely amazing verse.
That was a great thought in Picture a Scripture about the erasers.
The blood of Jesus Christ is God's eraser.
Jeremiah 9:18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
Jeremiah 13:17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down withtears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.
Jeremiah 14:17 Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes rundown with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
Lamentations 2:18 Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, lettears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.

i really needed to see Proverbs 10:28 again today, and thank you. I'm glad it blessed you today. I need to meditate on and focus on how delightful our God is.

Wow, Jeremiah really had some heartaches and was in grief, wasn't he? He was a dear dear man of God, wasn't he?

I was just thinking, surely one would not engage in adultery or witchcraft, but what about factions, disputes, dissension, and strife? They are all works of the flesh.

My pastor said this in church this morning.
God loves righteousness more than people.
I had to think about it for a few seconds before I could agree with him.
If God loved people more than righteousness He would just let everybody into Heaven like the Universalist's believe.
But God loved us so much that he gave His only begotten Son so we could have eternal life. Romans 5:7-8

I agree. It's tragic that there is so much of it. It just tears down the body of Christ, and we need all the encouragement and prayers that we can get.

That's profound. Yes, that is a good point. i'm thankful that He IS holy and doesn't let unrighteousness just "slide" like it doesn't matter to Him.

We are taught to love and pray for our enemies. I wonder if praying for them means that they can still be saved?

I'm convinced it does. We never know how God is working in someone's heart, mind, and soul.

God help us to genuinely pray for our enemies,by His inexplicable grace.

If we love and pray for our enemies, hopefully they won't remain our enemies by getting saved.
