Scotty, I had a cousin who was in 'Nam and when he came home, he broke all ties with the family, moved far away, and has never spoken to any of us ever again. It was like he had done something like this in a way, but without the actual harm to self. As you can imagine, his parents, my aunt and uncle, were devastated.

That war specifically has done so much harm to our country. Sometimes it happens right after the war, sometimes long after, like this case, but it tragically happens. We cannot do anything about it or change it either, because we all wrote him letters and such, and there never was ever any response.

This has been one of the many puzzles in my life, why he did this. It is an unsolvable puzzle too. There seem to be no answers.

I am sharing this story with you, because I thought maybe it might help you in some way. To let you know you are not alone.

I feel so bad for you, and so helpless as to how to help you! I am praying and have been praying, of course. I will continue to do so, brother. Hang in there!

Oh dear brother, you are in my prayers.
Take the Father's hand as you walk this path, the valley of the shadow of death - He is with you. It is the path only you can take, just you, just Him - a time of trust. Share this pain with Him each moment, release it to Him. He will feed you in this place out of His hand and give you your drink - Cry to Him. He will prove Himself sure and true to you in this time as you cast all your care upon Him.
I lift this precious brother to You Father, please protect him. Bring to him who will be of help to him, and protect him from what would seek to attack him in this time of pain. I pray he locks eyes with you through this and he makes you his refuge and his trust in this storm he must walk. You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You,Because he trusts in You. Is 26:3.

Thank you again guys SOOOO MUCH I am sorry that I don't answer soon, as I am trying to stop crying and get my head on straight. I have so many questions that will never be answered.
I am so grateful for all this information and this truly blesses my heart beyond belief.
Dad was a good man and one that was very honorable. Memorial day I guess was hard on him, I do not know why he has choose this end. I did not sleep last last night as images are forever ingrained into my head that one should never see of their Father, But God is my rock and I know He will take care of me, I am just mourning for myself and am being greedy in not wanting Dad to leave me.
I sat a long time with Dad after I got there because it took forever for the cops and medical examiner to show up. I talked to him and prayed and then held his hand and just cried. I want so bad to find a note, something, anything please God help me.
I love all you guys so much and I look so forward to coming here everyday and joining into the fellowship and all that we have here.
I found that Dad had a funeral arrangement already and it is just to be cremated and nothing else, I however am going to make sure he gets his military rights so thank you for the info on that.
God bless each of you and thank you so much

 Scotty, praying for you, that God carries you through this and covers you round about with His arms of comfort, and guides your every step, and strengthens and sustains you and holds you up during this most devastating time, and that His own help in all the ways necessary, and that God's inexplicable grace, loving kindness, and tender mercies are evident. Father may it be so, in Jesus name, amen (((hug)))

Scotty,

I want to personally thank you for your father’s dedicated service to his country! Nam is well known as one of the wars that was most difficult to serve in and the most dangerous.

I have always held a deep grace for combat vets. Unless a person has been through what they have been through, it is near impossible to comprehend.

I don’t know if your father left a letter or not, but you are most certainly correct that Memorial Day took its toll. I believe God is leading you through the healing process, already! You are communicating how deeply you Love your Dad and what a wonderful person he was. We are blessed to know him through your Loving words.

I’m saying this with the deepest faith, that Jesus has His arms around your father and is saying “Welcome home, weary soldier. Fear not, I’m taking care of your precious son Scott”.

All of my Love to you, Brother and fellow Spiritual Soldier in Jesus.

Beautifully said!

I also second that, about Jesus holding your father and saying "Welcome home."

Suicide is most often the result of mental illnesses like depression or PTSD, etc. And treating mental illnesses is not a simple thing. It's not uncommon for it to plague someone for the rest of their lives, even with all the right treatment. The point is, I do think God saw your father's heart, and did not hold these horrible illnesses against him. God knew that your father was in a very bad place and not thinking rationally.

I hope this brings you some comfort. We're with you.<3

Isaiah 41:10 is the first words of God that come to mind for you, dear brother. God knows all and He is with you, Scotty. Don't let this unexpected tragedy overcome you, because God is your God. He will strengthen and be your strength. He will help you in all the areas you need help. He will raise You up with His omnipotent hand.
He is with You in Your grief and will bare You up (Isaiah 63:9). He will comfort you (Isaiah 66:13). I believe Isaiah was Jesus' favorite book, He quoted it so much, and as you can see, all these verses being shared with you are from this book as well.
When human dear ones comfort you, may you take solace, but when they soon turn their minds elsewhere, God will continue to be there for you, at all hours of the night and day, understanding all you are going through. Go to Him as often as you need, as often as you like. He will always be ready and waiting. Our hearts go out to you, dear one.

Hi guys I am crying with love for all of you and thanking you so much for your prayers and condolences. My Dad would be so appreciative. I am going through papers and I didn't know that he has written St Jude's children research hospital a check for 100.00 every month for years and here is this big tough marine, Keeping this little secret. :]
I am trying to focus on what needs to be done. Tomorrow I am going to the funeral home in Mo to make arrangements and do the obituary. I looked out the window this morning and my magnolia tree had bloomed, I wanna take this as a sign.

What a beautiful gift! Saint Jude’s is a wonderful establishment! What a wonderful heart, that big tough marine had!

I am trying to focus on what needs to be done. Tomorrow I am going to the funeral home in Mo to make arrangements and do the obituary. I looked out the window this morning and my magnolia tree had bloomed, I wanna take this as a sign.

It is indeed a sign. Jesus connected with us through flowers and gardens in many of His parables and He is connecting directly with you, in the way He knows you’ll appreciate.

The picture is beautiful.

May God keep you safe as you travel to make the arrangements and I know your father would deeply appreciate the honor and Love that you will place into the obituary.

You are so very Loved! I have followed everyone’s posts and yours close enough to know, we all may be miles apart, but our hearts are most definitely with you!

All Love in Him and to you, Our Wonderful Brother in Jesus!
