Hebrews 4:12 KJB - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

[A2] "... piercing even to the dividing asunder of ..."

[B1] "... soul ..."

[B2] "... of the joints and marrow ..."

[C1] "... spirit ..."

[C2] "... is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

As the whole of Hebrews 3-4 KJB is speaking about faith and unbelief and the entering into or not entering into God's rest, how then does faith come? The Holy Ghost, answers in Hebrews 4:12 KJB, as elsewhere, by "the word of God":

Romans 10:6 KJB - But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above

Romans 10:7 KJB - Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

Romans 10:8 KJB - But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Romans 10:9 KJB - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:10 KJB - For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

As the peoples Israel of old provoked God, He would provoke them, that they might yet believe, and enter into God's rest.

The word of God, even from the beginning separates light from darkness:

Genesis 1:4 KJB - And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

... and does so in the heart, which without God is without form and void, unformed and unfilled, incomplete and unfulfilled.

The council gave them regulations for when they were coming into the faith:

All of which are found in the heart of Deuteronomy, Leviticus, and where would the Gentile believers learn more and when? From the Scriptures when they are read on Sabbath meeting:

Acts 15:21 KJB - For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

All of this confirmed by the Holy Ghost:

Acts 15:28 KJB - For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

The Gentiles believers were already keeping Sabbath, but many new believers were about to come in, and they needed some hard/fast regulations [kinda like when polygamists, witchdoctors, polytheists, headhunters, come to the faith in Africa [Zimbabwe, or other such like countries, etc], etc]:

Acts 13:42 KJB - And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Acts 13:43 KJB - Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

Acts 13:44 KJB - And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Which is a fulfillment of Isaiah 56:1-8; John 10:16, 21:15-17 [lambs - children/young in faith; sheep - Jews; sheep - Gentiles; two folds becoming one united fold, all repentant unto God, see Acts 4:24 [Jews], 14:15 [Gentiles]; compare to Exodus 20:11 KJB] etc.

Hebrews 4:13 KJB - Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The word of God in Hebrews 4:12 KJB searches us as we read it [for it, like a mirror [a looking glass] reveals true selves in the face of the standard of God's character], and yet even still God already knows all things, even the end from the beginning:

Yep good discussion T7C,

I have so much to catch up on reading wise. I like how this thread links much of the NEW Testament scriptures back to their source in the OLD Testament. I believe in this same approach of comparing the OLD to the NEW as everything from the NEW comes from the OLD.

Many do not realise that the OLD Testament was the bible of Jesus and the Apostles and is the origin of where the NEW Testament comes from. These are the two great witnesses that make up the WORD of God that we are to live by.

The OLD Testament shines it's LIGHT on the NEW (Psalms 119:105; Isaiah 8:20) and without it, and God's guidence who can understand what the NEW is talking about?

Hebrews 4:14 KJB - Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

"Seeing then" is akin to saying "therefore". Thus as we take in the word of God from Hebrews 1 through Hebrews 4, as given through Paul by the Holy Ghost, taking each step, precept upon precept, line upon line, having begun at the foundation, we come to understand the purpose of God in sending His Son, and our absolute need of salvation and redemption from sin, and so have need of the Gospel as it is in Christ Jesus, who is both the offering of the atonement in sacrifice [being "bought"; Leviticus 25:50,51 KJB] and so too the atonement as High priest ministering His blood that was shed in Gethsemane and upon Calvary's tree before the Father in the Heaevnly Sanctuary, first in the Holy Place, and then in the Most Holy Place [being "brought" [Leviticus 25:38,42,55 KJB] back to perfect love]. We are led back in our thinking to that which was said previously:

Hebrews 1:10 KJB - And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

Hebrews 2:9 KJB - But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Hebrews 2:14 KJB - Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Hebrews 3:1 KJB - Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

For the "Apostle" [Christ Jesus, the highest Messenger of the Father's Love, Michael the archangel, the eternal Son - Link-http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=10930346204581685709 and see also - Link-http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=02188528893778979904], of the Father, was sent as the Sacrifice, as the Gospel. And having completed the Sacrifice, "It is finished", He must then take up His second work as the great High Priest to minister the shed blood of His Sacrifice, for a sacrifice without an priest is of no avail.

Yet, why all the need of the shed blood of the Sacrifice and the ministration of the High Priest? It was because all men, every man in Adam, [except Jesus Christ], has transgressed the Holy Law of God, the Ten Commandments. The Holy Law of God, which is Love, for God Himself is Love, being the foundation of His Kingdom and Government, the written transcript of His perfect Character was violated through our selfishness, but we are redeemed through His unselfishness, having so loved the world, that the Father sent His Son to redeem us from all sin [Matthew 1:21 KJB], and so demonstrating the perfect love by His self-Sacrifice, to destroy the works of the devil, the transgression of the Law of God's love.

Thus we see Jesus being sent from the Father, being born of the likeness of sinful flesh, living the perfect life of love without sin, as both substitute and example, dying as the Sacrifice for all mankind, shedding His own blood, His own life, and being buried, and rising again, to take up what He began, as Highpriest, as the Author and Finisher of our faith, the redemption of mankind from satan, sin and selfishnes, applying the blood to the heart, by and through the Holy Ghost, bringing us back into perfect atonement with God and His Law of love the Ten Commandments.

Jesus did not remain on earth, but ascended to the Heavenly Sanctuary, the Holy Place [Revelation 1:10-20, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1-5:14; Psalms 24:1-10; Hebrews 9:2,6,8 KJB], and much later move into the Most Holy Place on the anti-typical Day of Atonement [Leviticus 16:1-34, 23:26-32; Daniel 7:9-10,13-14,22; Zechariah 3:1-10; Hebrews 9:3-5,7-8; Revelation 3:7-8 KJB], to accomplish and Finish the work in the True Tabernacle which the LORD pitched and not man, otherwise if he had remaioned on earth, He should not be a priest, and we could have no redemption:

Hebrews 8:4 KJB - For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

The ARK of the Covenant HAS BEEN FOUND since AD 1844! The Sabbath Commandment [Ex. 20:8-11] is seen!

Thus we see in Hebrews 4's conclusion, what we find later in Hebrews 9:

Hebrews 9:11 KJB - But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Hebrews 9:12 KJB - Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Hebrews 9:13 KJB - For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

Hebrews 9:14 KJB - How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The Sacrifice of Christ Jesus, proves the immutability of God's character, His Law, the Ten Commandments of Love. That Jesus died to uphold God's Mercy and Justice, in a single sacrifice, gives infinite weight to the magnitude of the Law of God, and the love and infinite value that the single sinner [the person] has to God, and the enormity of the hatred that God has for sin, because of what sin does, bringing about eternal death, the very anti-thesis to Him who is eternal life.

If any other Gospel is preached, which teaches to transgress even one of God's Commandments in any way, they have marginalized the sacrifice of God in Christ Jesus, despised the shed blood of the Son and counted it as an unclean thing, and cast away the ministration in the Heavenly places [plural], and thrown back into the face of God His offer of mercy and redemption from sin, satan and selfishness.

Yet by faith, we can "follow" the Lamb of God in His work, from what He did on earth, and follow Him into the Heavens, into His work in the Holy Place, having ascended there from earth, and follow Him when He moved from there, into the Most Holy Place, in the anti-typical Day of Atonement, now taking place [Daniel 8:13-14,26; Revelation 9:13-15 KJB], and follow Him yet still as He closes that work, blots out our sins [Acts 3:19 KJB], and follow Him as He returns to earth soon, without sin:

Hebrews 9:28 KJB - So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Hold fast to this profession.

We, who are Christians, then indeed have an "high priest", who is Jesus Christ. When was Jesus "made" an "high priest"?

Hebrews 5:5 KJB - So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

Hebrews 6:20 KJB - Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Hebrews 7:26 KJB - For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

Jesus the "head" was anointed in Heaven, and the oil [symbol of the Holy Ghost] poured out in Heaven at Pentecost [the promise of the Father, which Jesus claimed and received], came down to the "skirts of his garment", the very "body" of Christ on earth, down to Mt. Zion, where the "body" was. The faith of those assembled as one accord, of the body of Christ on earth, had reached upward, and entered into the "upper room", the Holy Place in Heaven, where Jesus was, Revelation 1:10-20, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1-11, 5:1-6 KJB.

There is another "upper room" for us today [Leviticus 16;1-34, 23:26-32; Daniel 7:9-10,13,22, 8:13-14,26; Revelation 3:7-8, 9:13-15, 10:6, 11:1-2,19, 14:6-12, 15:5 KJB, etc], the Most Holy Place in Heaven, for we who are Christ Jesus', "follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth" [Revelation 14:4 KJB], and understand what He was doing all of this time, is doing now, and is about to do. Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world ...

Jesus is not a sinner, though he had taken on the likeness of sinful flesh as we have. When the text says, "All have sinned ...", Jesus is excluded, as other texts reveal:

Hebrews 2:16 KJB - For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

The question then is, what kind of nature do unfallen [ooops, I gave it away] Heavenly Angels have, as opposed to every child of fallen Adam, and since Jesus did not take on that nature of Heavenly angels, that only leaves the other.

Romans 1:3 KJB - Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

If it were not so, Jesus could never have "condemned sin in the flesh", being His flesh that He took upon Himself.

Romans 8:3 KJB - For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

[for "likeness" see Philippians 2:7; Romans 6:5]

Keep in mind this text always:

John 3:6 KJB - That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

It really is simple, eh?

1 Peter 4:1 KJB - Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

Hebrews 2:17 KJB - Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

The so-called Evangelical 'gospel' is no Gospel at all when compared to the infinite value of the True and Everlasting Gospel...

LIKENESS OF SINFUL FLESH

The lineage of Jesus given in both Matthew [Matthew 1:1-18; "son of David, the son of Abraham"] and Luke [Luke 3:23-38; "[son of] Adam", etc] is easily seen in the lives and history of Jesus' ancestors, of which He Himself inherited of their fleshly nature when He was made of a woman.

Jesus has for flesh and blood ancestors, murderers, thieves, harlots, idolators, etc, but none of that makes Him as such [a sinner], but He did and does inherit the flesh and blood, fallen flesh nature, like as we. For He was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin, and His temptations were far greater [not less].

How many sons of Adam were born from Adam after His sin? All of them, including all of us here, and also Jesus, being born of Mary [Matthew 1:16], who was of the line, the seed according to the flesh, of David.

David acknowledges his heritage in the Psalms, and Jesus is called the "son of David", and also the "son of Abraham". Did they have sinful flesh? Were they born after Adam's fall? Yes.

To be born with sinful flesh is not to be born with the guilt of sin/transgression. The scripture teaches that to [commit] sin [of comission or omission] is to be a transgressor [of the Law], not simply being born with sinful flesh.

If all will go with me to other scriptures please, where it describes this "flesh" [sarx]:

"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us..." [John 1:14]

"GOD manifest in the flesh" [1 Timothy 3:16],

"the LORD from Heaven" [1 Corinthians 15:47],

"made of a woman" [Galatians 4:4],

"made of the seed of David according to the flesh" [Romans 1:3],

"...to every seed his own body..." [1 Corinthians 15:38],

"...of the fruit of his [David's] loins, according to the flesh..." [Acts 2:30]

of the "seed of Abraham" [Hebrews 2:16],

even "as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same" [Hebrews 2:14] [what flesh are we born with, that He partook of then, what blood?]

and "in all things it behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren" [Hebrews 2:17],

that we might have "...known Christ after the flesh..." [2 Corinthians 5:16],
and scripture giving us the family line and genealogy of that very flesh [sarx] and blood nature He took upon Himself [Matthew 1:1-25; Luke 3:23-38]

the "[the son] of Adam" [Luke 3:38]

as it is said, "made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men" [Philippians 2:7],

and "...in the days of His flesh..." [Hebrews 5:7],

"was in all points tempted like as [we are yet] without sin" [Hebrews 4:15],

and in His death it is written, "...my flesh shall rest in hope..." [Acts 2:26], and

"...his soul [being/person] was not left in the grave, neither his flesh did see corruption..." [Acts 2:31] because He was/is...

"holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners" [Hebrews 7:26]

that "holy thing" [Luke 1:35]

born of the "Holy Ghost" [Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:35],

where even though He came in the likeness [Romans 8:3; Philippians 2:7; etc] of sinful flesh, yet He was without sin:

"… But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none." [Matthew 26:60]

"...the innocent blood..." [Matthew 27:4]

"...For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. ..." [Matthew 27:18]

"… Why, what evil hath he done? …" [Matthew 27:23]

"… I am innocent of the blood of this just person …" [Matthew 27:24]

"The said Pilate … I find no fault in this man.” [Luke 23:4]

and "...nailing it to His cross." [Colossians 2:4],

"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh..." [1 Peter 4:1];

even "...being put to death in the flesh..." [1 Peter 3:18],

and we are to be "...crucified with Christ..." [Galatians 5:24],

"In the body of His flesh through death..." [Colossians 1:22],

become dead to the penalty of the Law, the 2nd Death, "...by the body of Christ..." [Romans 7:4],

that we might be "...members of His body, and of His flesh, and of His bones." [Ephesians 5:30],

by a "...new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh;" [Hebrews 10:20]

so that we may know this, "...Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." [Romans 6:6]

"Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:" [Hebrews 10:5]

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." [1 Peter 2:24]

"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all]." [Hebrews 10:10]

Therefore, we have this hope, "Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." [Philippians 3:21]

Therefore, it is very important to understand with what flesh Jesus came, not only to the Everlasting Gospel [Genesis 3:15; Revelation 14:6-7, etc], and how Christ Jesus is to save us from sin [Matthew 1:21; not in it] and to redeem us unto God, it is written,

"Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:" [1 John 4:2]

What flesh is John speaking about? The very likeness of sinful flesh we have, of the race of Adam, for he says, "...our hands have handled, of the Word of life." [1 John 1:1]

And it is written of those which refuse this, "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." [1 John 4:3]

"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." [2 John 1:7]

And who teaches that Jesus did not come in that sinful flesh?

The Mother of Harlots [Revelation 17], through its particular Dogma...

...and also her harlot daughters ...

...there are many "...not discerning the Lord's body." [1 Corinthians 11:29]

Please read Romans 5 carefully and prayerfully, and especially see Romans 5:19 and read it several times and come to understand what it is powerfully saying, along with all the places in Revelation which speaks about over coming, even as He overcame in the flesh.

The final "therefore" of Hebrews 4, and so because we do indeed have such an High Priest as Christ Jesus, entered into the Heavens and the True Tabernacle which the LORD pitched and not man, as a man, who lived with the likeness of sinful flesh amongst men with the same sinful flesh, yet without sin, Jesus knows what it is like to be tempted in all points [in greater capacity than we can know], and yet have victory over every one, and so gives us the strength and example to live as He lived, and so taken back to Hebrews 2 once again:

Hebrews 2:9 KJB - But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Hebrews 2:10 KJB - For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Hebrews 2:11 KJB - For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

Hebrews 2:12 KJB - Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

Hebrews 2:18 KJB - For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

And so, we, as humanity, have a most powerful representative, even our Head, who stands before the Heavenly Father for us, interceeding and being our great Advocate in the Heavens, and so we may indeed, in Christ Jesus, come boldly before the throne of Grace, while there is still time to do so, and be cleansed of all unrighteousness.

Humanity can live without sin, in the Grace of God, and we can so walk, even as Jesus perfectly walked:

1 John 2:6 KJB - He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

There is indeed a "time" for everything under the sun, and this "time" of "need" will only last so long:

Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJB - To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:2 KJB - A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to be born again. A time to die to the old man. A time to plant the seed of Christ into the heart. A time to uproot the old man of sins ways. As it is written:

Matthew 15:13 KJB - But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Ecclesiastes 3:3 KJB - A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to kill lusts of the flesh. A time to heal the heart. A time to break down barriers of doubt, discouragment and selfish works. A time to edify, and be built up in Christ Jesus.

Ecclesiastes 3:4 KJB - A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to weep over our sins. A time to laugh/rejoice in God's deliverance. A time to mourn for the breaking of God's heart through our sin. A time to dance, and leap for joy, shouting our Salvation, Christ Jesus!

Ecclesiastes 3:5 KJB - A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to cast away stones for the stoning of others, pointing at their sins. A time to gather stones, for the destruction of sin, see Psalms 149:1-9 KJB. A time to embrace and kiss the Son, and a time to cease from carrying around the body of this death.

Ecclesiastes 3:6 KJB - A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to get God's righteousness and character. A time to lose the practices of sin. A time to keep that which God freely gave. A time to cast away our filthy rags.

Ecclesiastes 3:7 KJB - A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to rend the heart for having hurt our Father in Heaven. A time to sew to the Spirit of God, rather than to the flesh. A time to keep silence before God in listening to Him speak by His Holy Spirit through His word. A time to speak forth the Everlasting Gospel as found therein.

Ecclesiastes 3:8 KJB - A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

A time to love, which always is. A time to hate sin, which always is. A time of war, against the flesh, the world and the devil, even satan, sin and selfishness. A time of peace and atonement with God, having been brough back into relationship with Him through His Son, Christ Jesus, and by/through the Holy Ghost. The Gospel is Peace, and it only goes out so long, and the offers of mercy extend only so long, for God is long-suffering, not endlessly suffering and will not hae those whom He loves, endlessly suffering. There is a "time" ...

Sin has a limit, and is not eternal:

James 1:15 KJB - Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

The Sanctuary [Psalms 77:13 KJB] shows what will happen to sin and sinners who do not come to saving Faith in the blood of the Lamb:

Psalms 73:17 KJB - Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

Psalms 73:18 KJB - Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

Psalms 73:19 KJB - How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

As the animals had the sins placed upon them, they were filled with terrors, were to be killed, cut into pieces and burned unto ashes, while their blood poured out upon the ground.

As for our "need", in our degredation and pitiful condition, God looked upon us, and poured out all in His Son Christ Jesus:

Deuteronomy 15:8 KJB - But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

1 John 3:17 KJB - But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

[What did the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit give unto us?]

Matthew 6:8 KJB - Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 6:32 KJB - (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek

for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Matthew 9:12 KJB - But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

Mark 2:17 KJB - When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 5:31 KJB - And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

Luke 9:11 KJB - And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

Philippians 4:19 KJB - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Let us beware then of not seeing that we all have "need" of Christ Jesus, unless we become as those who think they have no more "need" of Christ Jesus and the victory over sins He offers:

Jesus told her that He was the "I AM" before anyone else. However, notice that when Jesus pointed out her sin by implication, she changed subjects and deflected to a topic that was known to cause contention among the Jews and Samaritans. The place of worship (which is actually the heart).

Thus those who have read even a small portion of this thread on Hebrews 3-4, and change the subject and deflect to another (which they themselves do not understand) demonstrate that they are hiding as Adam from God, and seek to cover their sin as fast as possible. Their conscience is pricked and they seek to hide from the light and truth, lest they have to admit the truth of the word of God, and their error from it and confess unto God and be delivered. They have the opportunity to cling to their darkness, or to embrace the light that now shines. If they choose darkness, their sin remaineth, and they choose to remain blind (in darkness) and now they are guilty, with no more cloak for their sin, being unmasked, and it is registered in the books of Heaven, and the wages for sin is death. They shall not escape the execution of the judgment to follow.

God is love, and He is warning every man, for He would have all come to repentance and so be saved, calling upon the name of the LORD of the seventh day the sabbath, Jesus (JEHOVAH Immanuel).

Those who do not acknowledge their Creator (Exodus 20:8-11) and ignore His clear command, will not be redeemed (because they chose not to be saved from their sin; Matthew 1:21; 1 John 3:4; Exodus 20:1-17), for the same God who is Creator, is also Redeemer.

This "rest" (sabbatismos) remains for us today, and thus a further warning is given by Paul to not forsake the gathering ourselves together on this day:

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Hebrews 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Therefore, do not forsake the gathering ourselves together, especially upon the sabbath of the LORD thy God, for to knowingly neglect to keep the Sabbath holy, is willful "sin" (1 John 3:4).

The sabbath of the LORD is called "an holy convocation":

Exodus 12:16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

Leviticus 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

A "convocation" is a gathering together (see also Isaiah 1:13, 4:5; Numbers 10:2).

Hebrews 4:4, "he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works", which "certain place" is Genesis 2:1-3; re-cited in Exodus 20:8-11. The 7th day the sabbath (rest) of the LORD thy God.

Hebrews 4:5, "my (God's) rest)", citing Psalms 95, which is citing Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11, etc. Again, this is the 7th day the sabbath (rest) of God at Creation in Genesis 2:1-3.

Absolutely brother. I really do not understand how people try to say or argue that God's WORD in Hebrews 3 and 4 does not mean what it says.

I'd start a study on Hebrews 4, but this thread has already done that. All I can say is, if someone hasn't read through this study, whether they were pro or con to the 7th day the sabbath, they are missing out on some excellent material.

Heb3:16 Who were those who heard and refused to obey? Weren’t they all the people Moses led out of Egypt? 17 Who was God angry with for 40 years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned? They died in the desert. 18 God promised that those people would never enjoy the rest he planned for them. God gave his word when he made that promise. Didn’t he make that promise to those who didn’t obey? 19 So we see that they weren’t able to enter. That’s because they didn’t believe.

The Israelite Sabbathkeepers never entered the rest that God had planned for them. Wait, They were Sabbath-keepers, they rested on their special day, didn't they? Well, God said they never entered the Rest He had planned for them so the Rest He had planned for them was not the weekly Sabbath now was it? Jn5:16 Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath day. So the Jewish leaders began to oppose him. 17 Jesus defended himself. He said to them, “My Father is always doing his work. He is working right up to this day. I am working too.”

The Rest God has planned for His children is plainly seen is not stopping ones work on the old covenant Sabbath, Israel, even though they were unbelievers, observed the Seventh-day. The Jews the writer of Hebrews were Sabbath-keepers already, so what is the Rest God had planned that had not been entered into? Is it some other day? I wouldn't think it was. The rest the Jews had was a physical rest. The Rest God had planned for them has to be a Spiritual Rest. Heb 4:1 says it is His Rest still promised. How does one come to enter His Rest? Heb 4 tells us that it is by believing. He tells us the Jews didn't have faith to believe what they heard. Jews couldn't enter God's Rest from the foundation of the World because of unbelief. They lacked faith and never entered God's rest. Sabbath-keepers never enter God's Rest.

Believe what you want, but we have absolutely no evidence that Abraham was a Sabbath-keeper yet He was a man of faith, a believer and God recognized his faith. He found God's Rest. Moses is the one who wrote of him, so the Israelites knew but did not enter. Those Sabbath-keeping Israelites never entered God's Rest.

Heb4:9-11 9 So there is still a Sabbath rest for God’s people. 10 God rested from his work. Those who enjoy God’s rest also rest from their works. 11 So let us make every effort to enjoy that rest. Then no one will die by disobeying as they did.

The book of Hebrews is built upon the ladder of learning system, beginning with the foundation, and building upon each precisely measured truth, in its “therefore”, “wherefore” and “for” statements. For instance:

Hebrews 1, lays the foundation in the eternal unchanging Deity and Co-Creatorship of Jesus Christ, who has a more excellent name than that of the created angelic hosts.

Hebrews 2, then begins with the connecting link to the previous foundation, with its “therefore”, and builds upon the other nature of Jesus Christ, namely that of the likeness of his fallen sinful flesh nature of humanity that He had taken upon Himself.

Hebrews 3, then continues to build upon those two things further, and connects to the past truth, with its “wherefore”, and delves straight into the peoples Israel [sons of natural Jacob] of the past, with Moses as a type of Christ; thus showing that Christ is the greater Moses, and in vs 7, another link “wherefore”, pointing to the failure in faith, and the rebellion of action as the result, drawing a parallel between they of old, and the we of then in Paul's day and so also now.

Hebrews 4, then continues the building exhortation, by its “Let us therefore”, and moves right into an an expanded comparison of the past with the present situation, in matters of living faith, granting the victory over sin. Paul, under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, draws from several passages of scripture, and draws a conclusion, with another link in vs 6, a “therefore” and further throughout with additional conclusions and places to step higher, in vs 14, “Seeing then”, and vs 16, “Let us therefore”. Living faith may therefore climb up Jacob's ladder [Christ Jesus] and reach the Throne of Grace, even “boldly”, to find pardon and cleansing for sin.

Hebrews 5, then takes this point on faith, grace, forgiveness, and cleansing, and takes the next step, pointing out the temporary changing Highpriests of old, and the eternal Highpriesthood of Jesus Christ, who is now, with its “For”.

Hebrews 6, then takes this another step higher, with its link of “Therefore”, and moves into the eternal promises of God and eternal covenant made with Abraham [etc], in Christ Jesus, and that true living and abiding faith in contrast with that which is mere 'fool's gold faith' [I believe, I believe, and no corresponding result, thus draw back into doubt, masking as 'faith'].

Hebrews 7, then going further into detail about how Jesus Christ can be a real Highpriest, is linked to the previous, with its “For this”, demonstrating that Jesus is after a higher order, a more ancient order of priest, the Melchizedek priesthood, to which even Abraham, the father of the faithful, acknowledges by tithe. Paul draws out a conclusion in vs 11, “If therefore” and continues.

Hebrews 8, reaches a midway peak, and summarizes all that has been stated before, with its “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum”, and continues by contrasting the shadows of the Levitical with the reality of Jesus' Melchizedical, along with the old and new covenants.

Hebrews 9, begins with the summarized truth, “Then verily”, and shows the contrast of the earthly sanctuary and its recurring animal sacrifices with that of the true Heavenly, with Christ as the real Mediator between God and man, and the one true sacrifice that was foretold from the beginning, which parallels the language of Colossians 2 and Ephesians 2.

Hebrews 10, continues the thought of Hebrews 9, with is “For”, and shows that the Levitical written laws had types, figures and shadows all pointing to their substance, their body, their reality, Christ Jesus, and because we now have the real sacrifice, sins can truly be cleansed, whereas the blood of goats and calves do not do so, and that everyone taking hold of this sacrifice may enter into God's presence through faith in it.

Hebrews 11, then takes us back to the beginning with “Now faith” and “by faith ...” in the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and unites the peoples of faith gone before, with those present, and all those yet to come in the redemption and resurrection provided in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12, takes this great 'hall of faith', and links to it with “wherefore”, for the now present persons looking at the significance of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of the Messiah, and continues with the striking difference between the judgments gone before because of transgression/sin, and the great Judgment to come, but not to grow weary and cling to the blessed Hope, which is Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13, one can hear the echoed “wherefore” of Hebrews 12:28, in that also in vs 29 God is a consuming fire, who is love, and so “Let brotherly love continue.”, and like as Jesus so loved, in Hebrews 13:12, “wherefore” we ought also to follow such an example of love, and thus, chapters 11, 12 and 13, might appropriately be called the chapters of “Faith, Hope & Love”, and the greatest of these is Love.
