During those times at church when we are told to close our eyes, bow our heads, etc. during prayer time, I find it easier to keep my eyes open. Don't get me wrong; I still pray. I find it more comfortable to look down at the floor or up at the ceiling or stare off into space during prayer time.
Also during prayer time at home I don't find it necessary to do the same there, nor do I feel the need to fall on my knees, put my hands together, etc. As I've heard from others and what I also believe, offering prayer to God is a heart issue. The method in which I pray and/or my motives for praying are between me and Him.
If any of you believe I'm praying in error and that I'm required to use specific words, sit in certain positions, etc., please show me how and why I'm wrong (especially from a baptist POV). Thanks.
