In a lot of ways, it is. We are less violent than we used to be, although that can change. Europe was looking toward utopia, until WWI. So there's that.

But there is some evidence that humans are slowly adapting to a less hostile and more Christlike outlook.

The world has been white washed with PCism giving the false indication that we are getting along better... but the darkness of this world is as present as it's ever been. Once these things begin to come to light, you won't think we are better, trust me.

By what objective measure can you claim the above?

Life expectancy has risen year after year for over a century
Quality of life is better now than it has ever been before
technology has empowered billions of people to do things that were once undreamed of. I mean, there are people in huts in African surfing the internet...

So I just don't see things getting worse. Sure, we have our problems but this is a great time to be alive...

We do have three big things looming on the horizon though.. Climate change, we've got to get a handle on that. Population explosion. We've got to institute a world wide freeze on population growth in the next 50 to 100 years. Energy generation/consumption. The population and tech explosions means we consume roughly double the energy (electricity and oil) that we did just 20 or 30 years prior...

I won't sidetrack into this topic but suffice it to say that the signs of the end that Jesus spoke of are the exact same things as are being blamed on climate change... great distraction so that people don't look to their Bibles for an answer.

Population explosion. We've got to institute a world wide freeze on population growth in the next 50 to 100 years.
Much talked about, not well understood. The problem isn't the number of people but the allocation of resources by the small percentage in power at the top. Consider this, the entire population of the earth could reside in the state of Texas with 1000 square feet of living space for everyone.

Energy generation/consumption. The population and tech explosions means we consume roughly double the energy (electricity and oil) that we did just 20 or 30 years prior...

Energy is not in want, there is enough energy in one tree to power the world for a year... we just don't have the knowledge on how to efficiently harness the energy out there.

I'm referring to the darkest power... ritual child sacrifice, sex slavery, cannibalism, corruptions of the few affecting the lives of billions, endless war with destruction of millions for no reason other than profit, etc...

We are conditioned to not look at these evils or to think they are mere tales and not that prevalent to be of concern. Satan is the god of this world and all the evil he can summon is being practiced by far more than anyone wants to know.

We have more diseases now than ever before.
We have diseases today people never would have thought of 100 years ago.
At any given time there is a war going on somewhere in the world, more than one place too.

And what is so great about people being able to surf the internet?
If I didn't require internet access for my work (I have a website where I sell product) I would not have a computer at all.
I am only on this forum because I have to have internet, and as long as I have to I may as well use it for something good.

Not presently. You'd have to convert all the matter in the tree to a usable form of energy. So far, we can't do that.

We have more diseases now than ever before.

Fewer people dying of diseases than ever. And if you read medieval reports, there are all sorts of infectious diseases that were devastating back then, that don't even exist today.

At any given time there is a war going on somewhere in the world, more than one place too.

Just fewer than there used to be.

And what is so great about people being able to surf the internet?

For people like me, it's a gigantic personal library that can get me almost anything I want to know.

That chart is skewed to only show battlefield deaths... we know the method of warfare is changed and there are more civilian deaths now in war than soldier deaths. The following is a link to show there has been over 200,000 civilian deaths in Iraq alone.

Sorry, but that is Fake Good News. Another myth being promoted by those who are trying to manipulate minds.

The real Good News is the Gospel, but evidently Pinker has no interest in that.

When we firebombed Dresden, it was a city being used for refugees. Up to 135,000 of them died in the firestorm. Just one bombing raid. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were only slightly smaller killings each. How many civilians do you think died in WWII?

About 50 million of them from the war or war-caused famine or disease. Three million Jewish civilians from the Holocaust alone.

Birth rates decline with education and greater wealth. Check the data: the highest birth rates are in the poorer nations.

And as a corollary the highest abortion rates are in those same nations even when those nations have strict anti-abortion laws. The most potent abortifacient in our world is poverty and the desperation induced by an unplanned pregnancy. That is why the "Mexico City policy" has been such a massive failure in the effort to reduce abortions. Trump's ban on global abortion funding has led to more abortions - CNN

High infant mortality rates seem also to correlate to high birth rates.

It's kinda funny; PCism has given the world a "represssive culture" whereby "people can't say what they want" and that's a problem.
So, we get rid of PCism and who flurishes? Racist, hate speech; fringe ideas (which CAN be good)....

So yeah, poop on PCism if you want but I'd rather live in a culture that strives for political correctness than one that ENABLES racist rhetoric, behaviour, language, and expression.

As we learn more and most about evolution and deep time the world is getting better by any reasonable metric.

In the vast majority of cases bring PC is nothing more than simply being polite.
