Yes this is a place to visit and post your favorite Bible verses.

A little about me, I am a Navy veteran. Married and I have a son away at college.

I like airplanes, especially fighter jets, which is why I chose the username and avatar. I could probably tell you a lot about this particular aircraft since I belong to a non profit group aimed at preserving examples of the aircraft in museums and parks.

Timeloop edit--I decided to add this to newcomers that come to this thread--be free to share Youtubes of your favorite fighter jets, but vet them carefully, as many of these videos are made by people that don't quite have standards that are up to the par this board has. Make sure they don't contain profanity or profane lyrics, gestures or images. Some military people making these videos tend to be rude and crude, I am well aware of that as a military veteran. Let's keep it clean here folks. ;)

Do you like tanks?

That would be a nope. Not the army type at all.

I do like the A-10 Warthog-- a tank buster plane.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. -- James 3:17-18

Oh yeah (awesomeness)! That plane has literally flown in on one wing before!

I believe you are talking about an Israeli F-15 Eagle. Close in design, but the F-15 Eagle is not variable geometry like the F-14 Tomcat.

The Israelis call their F-15's 'Falcons' and give them individual names.

He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. - Psalm 91:4

That is an amazing Aircraft! I can’t deny that I favor the variable geometry of the F-14. I was in the USN, after all.

Israel does seem to be strong these days...

Joel 3:1 For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 2I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land, 3and have cast lots for my people, and have traded a boy for a prostitute, and have sold a girl for wine and have drunk it.

The F-15 is still in service in Israel, Japan and the US.

It is said that the F-14 was more a victim of powers in Washington at the time playing favorites with defense contractors, but that is a different discussion for another place.

The F-14 was retired in 2006. There are 78 examples of this aircraft in parks and museums across the US. There is even one on a US Naval base in Atsugi Japan. There are 8 of them in AMARG in Tucson Arizona in Museum hold, awaiting being sent to various museums across the US.

What I did in the Navy, for the most part what I did was administrative. I started out as a tech, but moved up to administration. So I was a paper pusher taking care of training records and writing training guides.

I was a tech too... but took a route with the “silent service”... and can’t say much of what I did...

Administration in the Navy is hard work!!! It’s never ending in fact! I remember getting changes to tech manuals every week and then getting changes to those changes within a month!

Thank you for your service!

Training and working with computers is mostly what I did. I actually worked with reservists training them, so I was actually attached to a reserve center. I was what was known as a TAR--Training and Administration of Reservists. I wasn't anything fancy. But being in the Navy I did get to go the base airshows and that is where I watched the F-14 in person. I actually do more with that airplane now that I am retired then when I was active duty.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4:8

Top Gun was what really hooked me on the Tomcat.

That intro etched it in my mind as my favorite fighter jet for life. Your preservation work with them is a cool thing!

One super thing about the Tomcat is that is speeds like a bullet when it’s wings are swept back, and it just peacefully sails along... but if its Pilot and Rio get Eye on a threat... it can slow down and those wings sweep out to provide intense dog fighting maneuverability!

Personally, I was not real keen on the acting or the subplot in that film. But I did enjoy the dogfighting. This classic scene does crack me up.

giphy.gif

In a real life scenario Pete Mitchell would have lost his wings, not so much for the tower buzzing, but mainly for insubordination and for hitting on his instructor. I served in the late 80's and early 90's. It was just after the Tail Hook scandal. There was little tolerance for that kind of behavior back then.

The film TOPGUN is Hollywood fiction.

A good source of footage of the F-14 is youtube. I can watch the aircraft and enjoy her sound without putting up with awful immoral plotlines.

I know where to find them if you want me to post the Youtubes. After all this a fun relaxation thread.

Funny... buzzing the tower is always a desire after a good dog fight and I totally agree about Top Gun... though I watch it once a year... and that is my favorite scene... :D

I think some cool Tomcat Videos would be awesome!

This is just the airplane herself without any music or other nonsense added. Enjoy!

That video is incredible!

I hope I remain in your graces... I spun the spinner around the world and somehow landed on this video... :)

I figured I would play the part of music and nonsense... :D

Nice. On YouTube's before I post them I make sure they don't contain any vulgarities or crude terms. This website isn't Facebook.

:D You would never have guessed it, but I have had my hand slapped a few times already.

I can’t lie... old Maverick always resonated with me... :)

But... I fully understand.

I believe there are not too many of us that haven't had our hands slapped at one point or another. We all make mistakes. The best thing to do is learn from them and move on.

Thank God for Forgivness... because it is the motor oil of life and Love.

John 21:17 He says to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you dearly love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you dearly love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I dearly love You." Jesus says to him, "Feed My sheep”
