A show I was watching recently (Broadchurch) had a character who was very friendly but overcompensated a lot during conversations, getting to know someone, and interrogating people. The other main character kept telling this overcompensating person to stop being that way. To just say what you want and then stop there.

As I was watching this show, this character, I realized that I do this. A LOT. I had never really noticed, or put a title to what I do but as I watched the show and this specific character, I saw so many similarities.

Do you feel you overcompensate?

Do you ever feel like you go above and beyond in conversation to make someone feel wanted, paid attention to, rewarded in some way?

I think so. I have a difficult time communicating with people the right way, so I guess I do try to overcompensate. I never want to hurt anyone, but a lot of what I say is taken the wrong way or out of context to what I meant. Being bipolar sucks, but I'm still learning!

Like your personality.

For example with myself when I talk to people I try to always make them laugh, I go out of my way to make them feel good and hopefully have a better day. Of course it's always great to be nice to people, but sometimes you can overdo it.

Like I do it a lot when I call for deliveries, especially if I get a hold of someone who is kind of snarky sounding or bored... I always like go into this spiel of saying things like "I sure am hungry" and adding things after my order like "I had that last time and it was so good".

I say things a lot like "I'm sorry for bothering you" or "Sorry but I just was wondering...".

When one is disabled, it is hard to find activities that are x. Doing nothing as fun doesn't last. One wants to be productive in some helpful work. But one is left with nothing.

I still don't like how you divide people up. It ticks me off.
